Some of my pet peeves is it when people build the nail almost completely flat, no apex, sides filed so hard it's exposing layers and angled, the free edge is flat, no c curve at all 🙃. I've been seeing this a lot lately even with well established techs

I freaking LOVE polygel!!! It really is a GREAT WAY to learn! You don't have the time restraints like with acrylic, but you have the benefits of acrylic with the strength and stability and how it stays until you decide you want it moved... it's like the best of both worlds!😄 I think you'll gradually find yourself getting better and better at other mediums just by using polygel. I never thought I would TOUCH builder gel, and I thought that my right hand was just always gonna have a shaky application, and that these were facts I just needed to accept... But I actually don't use acrylic anymore unless I ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO! (And I have found ways to make working with my left hand easier... well, it's still unnatural feeling, but it has MUCH BETTER OUTCOMES! Actually, most of the time my right hand looks better because I'm being so careful!) But yeah, girl, if you aren't loving acrylic, but you're great at polygel, you'll probably LOVE gel too!💖 No stinky knockout monomer smell!
@craftymomma59373 жыл бұрын
@@katielunn6394 i love polygel too!!!! It's so much easier to work with! I'm good with polygel on myself but when it comes to others, it's a different story cause everyone's hands are sooooo different and they aren't mine that I'm use to working on😂 but I'm working on it.... I got the essential stuff for acrylic but haven't got to practice yet on how it actually works... you're right the momoner is stink🤧 and polygel, you can use an alcohol based liquid to use to work with the polygel! Which is amazing!

An apex is sooo important for the structure of nails. Especially longer ones. I’ve seen some really bad breaks that snap the natural nail off when nail techs haven’t built a proper structure. That doesn’t mean the nails need a huge bump in it, the size of the apex depends on the length of the nail. Glad you covered this suzie. Tyfs ☺️💕 Xx

I always visualize my apex as a teardrop with the bigger end toward the cuticle and the point going pretty much all the way to the end of the nail. Sometimes it's a little squat tear drop and is more spread out and other times it's thinner and more elongated depending on the shape and length of the nail.

@Monsoon03103 жыл бұрын
If you want short nails you don't need the high apex and strong c curve. Basic saloon shapes have c curve that is 30-50% of circle depending on lenght - the longer, the more circular the c curve is while looking at the nail from the front/tip. You can try pinching built nail extension just a bit, but only the extension part, or try finding good video on how to properly use paper forms - Indigo nails polska has some technical videos with english subtitles on how to build nails, they have short oval nails with gel tutorial - even if you don't use gel you'll have all the theory you'll need :)
