I spent all my childhood summer holidays at my Nan's in Cornwall. We always planned for an ice cream, bucket and spade day at the beach, with traditional Cornish pasties for supper (in the 60s the only place you could get them) but Mum and Dad 'and Nan' always had a 'wet weather option' planned something essential if you are holidaying in Cornwall. We were never disappointed and it seems like you have also made a plan 'B' for when you have 'different' weather (I refuse to say bad lol) as there's always something to enjoy come rain or shine. You are truly adapting to British sensibilities and you will always be welcome.

Fun fact..... Alcohol has been so prevelant in the UK for so many centuries because drinking the distilled beer was more hygenic than our water in the 16/17 and 1800's.... Especially during the industrial revolution.

If you guys are still here on Saturday, there is a carnival in the village of St Agnes. It is an adorable little seaside town. And the carnival is essentially a parade in which the locals go through the village with bands and costumes, and everyone ends up in the pubs. It is always a good night, also a proper genuine Cornish experience!

St Agnes is a lovely area. The Beacon has fabulous views. I went there on my summer holiday last year (and also about 15 years ago) and I have a very pleasant memory of walking up the Beacon in the evening listening to Mike Oldfield's Ommadawn.

MagnusBruce I had the privilege of living there for a year, now I live nearer St Austel. I used to run up the Beacon everyday and just stand in awe once I reached the top. The coastal paths are amazing Too!

As a child i went to north yorkshire a lot. Whitby..with its abbey and dracula connections. Scarborough, filey, knaresborough, brimham rocks, harrogate, skipton, north york moors, yorkshire dales, fountains abbey, jervaux abbey and pately bridge. Most people barely get past york but theres a lot more to North Yorkshire.

I'd have to pass on the beer because I don't drink but I'm glad y'all enjoyed it. The food looked great! We lived about an hour and ten minutes from Myrtle Beach growing up, we visited it quite often. Im a lot older than you two so I remember the closer you got the more of the ocean you could see over the horizon. That's before all the buildings were built. Thank you for sharing!

Even by British summer standards the weather has been especially awful of late, it was actually pretty nice for a lot of early summer with temps in the mid and high 20's at times. Such a shame for you because the grey and rain really does inhibit your enjoyment of the outdoors. Still, you're such positive people I know you will make the most of it.

Like a lot of Brits, the patter of rain on canvas actually puts me in the holiday mood and helps me relax. With a good book, fresh air and the hope that "it might clear later", I'm happy. Funny isn't it? Cornwall suffers from the same problem as Washington state: a West-facing coastline in the Northern Hemisphere. Still, it's a cool place.

You probably passed my home town, Exeter. You should visit Exeter if you like history. It's been a settlement since the Roman invasion nearly 2000 years ago. "Exeter" means 'River Fort' because it was originally a Roman fort next to the river. The Fort was called "Isca". The name Isca is still used around the city, like Isca College for example. There are still parts of the Roman wall around the city. You can stand on the wall inside the museum. There's a 900 year old Cathedral and Britain's second oldest hotel which has been a hotel continually for 700 years, you can stay in it still today. There's a road leading out of Exeter heading east that has very long straight parts, that's because it's following the route of the Roman road that went to northern England connecting other forts. Family vacation was dad picking a part of the country then saturating that part by driving and seeing the country. One summer was the west coast. Another was the east coast etc. By doing this I have been to all the states except Alaska, Washington, Idaho and Oregon. Great memories.

We vacationed every summer, for 2 weeks, on the Oregon coast. Just south of Yachats. Beautiful!!!!

When I was a kid our family vacations were usually spent in the redwoods and Oregon coast area. We did make it inland to Crater Lake and the Oregon Caves at least one year. When I got a little older my grandparents took me to Disneyland and Universal Studios in SoCal. Every winter my grandfather's company had a Christmas party over a long weekend in Tahoe, so we would go on that trip, too. Periodically our trips were farther. We drove I-80 to Denver and then came back through the four corners states. We got to see the huge crater in New Mexico and took a helicopter flight into the Grand Canyon back when flying below the rim was still allowed. I got to go on a trip to FL with only my grandfather when I was 8. I didn't get to travel as much with my son as he was growing up, but we still went on a few trips to Tahoe, Reno, SF, Disneyland/Knott's Berry Farm, San Diego/Tijuana and a day trip to Bodega Bay every summer. Travel was a lot less affordable when I was the Mom than it was when I was the kid. The State Fair in Sacramento is always a great time and we go when we can.

Try the Yorkshire coast. Whitby is pretty. It's the port in the Dracula story, where Dracula lands in England. There are a lot of shops selling jewelry made from jet which is found in the area. Yorkshire is more rugged and less rich than Cornwall. You're also not far from the Yorkshire Dales national park, which has a lot of old villages, amazing scenery, and country pubs.

Went to St Austel brewery in march this year - got there about 4pm and when they did the tasting we were the last ones there so they let us take home all the partially used beer bottles...best time ever with 12 nearly full bottles of beer for free to drink....also have to admit propper fish and chips rule...really enjoying your travels and vids. When I was younger I used to spend some weeks of vacation in South Tyrol/northernmost Italy, this is in the Merano area, Alpine region with fruit trees, vineyards etc. I repeated those trips a couple of times. I used to drink local wines, went to the Tyrol castle, went hiking in the mountains way up and at lower altitudes enjoying the subtropical climate/vegetation there also, and on the paths there were opportunities of eating local food too, just delicious.

Oh wow it's so weird to see something I normally pass so much. I went to college right near it. I'm glad you're enjoying Cornwall. It's a lovely part of the world that I'm glad I was brought up in. There's so much to see and do in Cornwall. Heligan Gardens is a nice spot. If you go to the coast you can go on a boat ride and maybe see dolphins, basking sharks or seals.

Up North, Michigan! Meaning anywhere in Michigan north of Roscommon. My family rented a cottage near Little Traverse Bay in Bay View and would go to Petoskey, Mackinac Island (ride bikes around the island and eat fudge!), Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, the Tunnel of Trees (M-119 between Harbor Springs and Cross Village, to the Legs Inn in Cross Village for fantastic Polish food, Tahquamenon Falls in the UP... The list goes on! Michigan is stunning!

The best way to view Snowdonia is on the Welsh Mountain Railway that runs from Blanau Ffestiniog through to Porthmadog, it costs around £20 for a return ticket but it is well worth it.

My family holidays were spent on the Kennet & Avon Canal from Bradford-upon-Avon to Bath, and sometimes extending to Bristol in the UK. Canal boat holidays are incredibly relaxing and you can spend time just unwinding and then exploring the villages, towns and cities you go to. I strongly recommend looking into it guys 👍🏻 x

My parents used to take me and my siblings to Yorkshire quite a bit. We went to the seaside town of Whitby (one of the locations in Bram Stoker's novel Dracula!) and also long walks in the Yorkshire dales, beautiful!

In answer to your question, Although I lived for 40 years on the Devon side of the border, I have been all over Cornwall for work & play. As a kid we had a caravan at Harlyn Bay near Padstow (Padstein, Rick Stein the famous chef who made his fame there) the lifeboat station at mother Ivey's bay & Trevose lighthouse can be visited, sometimes dolphins & whales can be seen from the lighthouse. just up the coast is Port Issac, location of the hit series "Doc Martin" & Tintagel some say where King Arthur held court. On the South coast just outside St Austell is the old port of Charlestown, a film location for many titles including "Poldark"

Holidays were in Scarborough and Filey, Yorkshire. The best fish and chips in England PLUS Bram Stoker wrote Dracula there and it has the ruins of Whitby Abbey. An open top bus that goes up to it is terrifyingly vertical, but worth it. Just beautiful all in all

As a Londoner we would holiday in 2 main places. Cornwall ( Mevagissey) and boating on the Norfolk Broads. If you come to the UK again, i highly recommend trying a few days boating! Its an incredible experience! Love your adventures so much. All the best in Thailand! 👍👍👍

How cool to see you at the St. Austell brewery. A friend and I got a personal tour too a couple of years ago, they are so friendly. I tried the Proper Black last May and liked it a lot. Shame about the weather, april to june were mostly great as far as I know - sorry to rub it in. It's so much nicer when the sun is out, especially along the coast. For a cool holiday destination I used to go to a lot when I was young: The Ardennes in Belgium.

when I had just turned 16 we had a great family holiday in the town of Newquay--Theres surfing going on, bikini clad girls everywhere ( when you are 16 that DOES impress) hippies living in coastal caves--to my young eyes it was a different world. Loved the brewery here, although as I watch this its ten in the morning and its made me want to go to the fridge and grab a beer---nope--best left to the evening. Our family either went to Co. Down by the Mourne Mountain in towns like Newcastle as well as the Antrim coast in towns like Carnlough, Cushendun or Ballycastle. We occasionally ventured to Donegal as well. In my opinion, the most beautiful county on the entire island of Ireland.

Loving the videos guys. I'm British so I often went on holiday to the Lake District, in particular Windermere as the grandma lived there for 30 years. I've seen your video of food stuffs in Windermere and recognised it. My honeymoon was in Windermere, too. My suggestion is for you to visit the city of York. Fantastic tourist spots, such as York Castle and all the old streets to explore. Also went there on my honeymoon.

I spent many holidays with my parents in the Pyrénées, the mountain range separating France from Spain. I didn't really get to enjoy it because it was mostly hiking and I had terrible blisters on my feet as a child. Now grown up I have special socks and shoes, and have spent 3 years in the Alps hiking everywhere, while working in Grenoble. I don't know if it would suit your fast paced style of vacation, you need to take your time in the mountains, and hiking in France is very physical. 800 m elevation gain is a family hike, 1000-1200 m gain a medium hike. But you get to see alpine lakes of all colors, glaciers, mountain goats or marmots. And the roads are spectacular, on the scale of the road you took to Gorges du Verdon. I've been to the US, Canada, Norway, Sweden or New Zealand, but I think the Alps are the best mountains to hike in for an accessibility/scenery ratio. The Himalayas or Andes might be more impressive, I don't know, but they're not easily accessed. Avoid Switzerland which is overly expensive, Italy is worth it though.

The Lake District was one of the places we went to most often when I was much younger, in particular the Keswick area, which is a little less touristy than Windermere and Ambleside. But if you want somewhere a little off the beaten track, check out the town of Ludlow in Shropshire. It's a beautiful market town with an extremely impressive castle, more pubs than you can shake a stick at, amazing local scenery and great local produce. There is a food and drink festival in early September which I've gone to every year for about 15 years. I'm not sure if you guys will still be in the UK by then, though.

If you go to the Lake District the pubs along the lake at Ambleside carry a fantastic brew called Thrappledouser. It's my hubby's absolute favorite and we always detour so he can get a pint if we are anywhere near the district. I know you were planning on going to that area but not sure if it was this trip or not. Give it a go, nothing beats sitting outside overlooking the lake watching a beautiful sunset with a darned good brew! Have fun :)

we usually had family holidays in and around the county of Ceredigion in Cardigan Bay west Wales, particularly coastal towns such as Aberystwyth, Ynyslas, Aberdyfi, Barmouth but spent plenty of time inland around the many reservoirs lakes and mountains, Also have memories of spending time in snowdonia .A point of interest, one of Cornwalls' Historic names is West Wales

Not to sound too tragic, but my family vacations when I was a kid were to a place on the British North East coast called Anderby Creek, near Skegness. When you walked out onto the beach to your left was more grey beach, to your right was a sewage outlet. Hooray for working class northern England holidays! I wouldn't recommend it, but I do have happy memories of it :-)

It's not common nowadays, but years ago we used to say there's two accents in Cornwall, one where they talk out of the left side of their mouth and one where they talk out of the right side of their mouth. People actually did that. It was a real rural thing, even more common in neighbouring Devon.

You guys need to check out the Northumberland Coast line in the UK, its in the North East of England below the Scottish boarders. Bamburgh, Seahouses, Craster, Dunstanburgh, Alnmouth etc so much gorgeous countryside, coast and castles!

It's such a shame that you had bad weather, I did too when I went to Cornwall at the end of June. When I was a kid we went to Paignton in Devon but mostly we went to Bournemouth in Dorset my favourite beach there was Sandbanks, if it was sunny it was like being in the Med! We went here because my Nan and Grandad lived there. Then we would go to North Wales, snowdonia because my other Nan and Grandad lived there😂 When I got a bit older and my parents were able to afford it we had our holidays in the south of France which was so nice as we had pretty much guaranteed sunshine😁 My husband and I have only just started to holiday in the U.K again as we have dog and it's nice to do walking holidays but it is a drag when it rains!

I'm from Denmark, and when I was younger we mostly went to my grandparents' summer house in the western part of Jylland where there's lovely white sand beaches :D

I grew up in Prince Edward Island so much of our holiday time was just spent there with occasional side trips to Nova Scotia and Cape Breton or New Brunswick and a couple of trips down to Bar Harbour, Me.

I bet those were absolutely beautiful vacations! We still haven't gotten up that way, but will definitely hope to explore the northeast soon :)

England in The summer can be red hot then pouring down and muggy then bone dry and red hot again lol its constant chaos and unpredictable. During this summer I have even seen Hailstone hit for an hour then completely vanish followed by heat. Love It. You guys should try Cards Against Humanity, but bear in mind you cannot be easily offended.

We used to go to Cornwall, Tenerife and Southern Spain/Portugal. Spain has a lot to offer, its very popular with British tourists especially the south but I'd l;love to check out the North one day.
