Again, Josh, I applaud your honesty with your friend, I'm the guy that my friends and family ask to be in on a vehicle and/or motorcycle deal so, I getcha brother! Good luck, the search goes on. A lender probably wouldn't go above 18k tops, I'd be willing to bet, judging from the deal I got last year on my LBZ with half that mileage. I like your videos on what to know and watch for when buying a Duramax. I haven't see all your videos. But I wanted to know. Is there a easy way to tell. If the injectors have been changed or replaced. I'm purchasing my first diesel Duramax the weekend. 2002 lb7. It has 168,000 a clean truck. I'm just wondering if the injectors has been replaced under the factory recall. My dad is a retired diesel mechanic. But he retired before ever working on any Duramax stuff. I just want to save myself trouble of having to replace them. I have the torque pro. So I'm gonna try to scanner the injectors before purchasing the truck. And tips. On what to look for if they are factory or have been replaced. Love your turbo video. I found your channel searching lift pumps on here. To see if it's something I need. And will be buying one. As soon as I get the truck. Keep up the great work. Tips on buying. And honest opinions!👍
@Duramaxjon5 жыл бұрын
Check the injector balance rates with a scan tool and they should all be within +/- 4 when the truck is idling in park. Look around the valve covers and see if there's rtv squished out. Look around at the hoses and wire loom on the engine and see if anything looks new or like it's been messed with. Look at the high pressure fuel lines and see if they look like they've been replaced or if the nuts have marks from a wrench, or if they are numbered with a paint pen or marker.

James Fox ford makes the best truck overall. There is absolutely no denying that, why do all hotshotters run fords or rams? Ford chassis with a cummins engine, that would be a good truck.

Great video and you now your stuff when it comes to these rigs so let the haters hate. I'm really enjoying these types of vids. I have a family member with an 2008 duramax that is currently pulling horse trailers up in Canada and hope one day to buy it. This is why these vids are helpful. Thanks and keep up the good work. cheers

Seems like I got a decent deal on an 08 Sierra 2500 for $9k with 310k with an ARE topper and newer LT265 tires. A few dents/scrapes and light hail damage on hood but it was a kinda southern truck and minimal rust on it.

I drove to colorado from northern wisconsin for my truck. It was a one owner old man truck; untouched. He had a service bible he kept in a composition notebook for EVERYTHING ever touched on the truck (i maintain the notebook to this day). It had 180,000 miles from his yearly trip to the family campround with his small rv. Not a single leak anywhere. Anywhere. Not a bad bushing or bearing. The ONLY thing i had to replace when i bought this truck was some new headlights as his had fogged. You could not have found a better truck than mine. I would NEVER have paid $20k for it. Only a moron would. I paid $12k and 3 beers each at the bar next to the lot we met at. I still talk to the dude and show him the progress on HIS truck (itll always be his, even if im the inheritee of this beautiful rig). He doesn't necessarily agree with all of my mods, but he loves that someone who loves and respects the truck has it. He kbows i will baby it just as good as he did. He knows i wish to drive it till i die of old age and pass it on. If you really bought this truck, especially for $20,000, you're an idiot.

Here in missouri we call this region the "Rust belt". Everything rusts bad here. We don't use as much salt as we used to on the roads but it's still wet all the time

Dude I feel this 100%. My duramax that I currently own, I really should have passed on and found something else. But the owner and the dealership it was on consignment with both kinda scammed me. Firstly, I paid wayyyyyyy too much money for it. He was asking 25,000 I got him down to 21,500. LLY with 140,000 miles. When I test drove it, I got up underneath it and checked, and she was spotless. There was a tiny bit of surface rust and the usual dirt and dust everywhere. I didn't really care that it had been offroaded some, and it did have a bulldog tuner on it and I was nervous when the owner told me he usually ran the highest tune. But it was fully stock otherwise. The big red flag I should have seen was that it was parked on the grass. I assumed it was because it was a huge truck that was parked at a small dealership and it was for looks. I found out not too much later that in reality, she was leaking oil from the turbo drain. Then when the shop went to fix it, they told me that it was an aftermarket, larger turbo. And that the installer used silicone instead of a true seal when replacing the turbo. There was also a huge chunk missing out of the backplate of the engine. Then right after that, a piston in the engine shattered and destroyed the whole block, so I did a full engine replacement. All in all, I've spent somewhere around $40,000 on this truck including the price of the truck. I love it to death, ill never trade it. But I should have passed and found a better deal and been more aware of what I was buying.

The frame it looks like surface rust ...
@spyder0000694 жыл бұрын
Here in illinois they can rust from the inside out from all the salt sitting in the frames. If you coat them its even worse because it plugs up the drain holes. People talk about a oil treatment that gets sprayed into the frame that is supposed to work well if you do it from the get go and repeat every so often.
