Howdy adventurers! We’ve seen a lot of comments from people telling us the vehicle we are driving is a tricycle and not a tuk-tuk. A tricycle is actually different, it’s a motorcycle with a cage built around it. This vehicle however, is traditionally called a tuk-tuk (or auto rickshaw). The company we rented it from even calls it tuk-tuk. Either way, it shouldn’t be a big deal, just relax and enjoy the adventure ✌️

No, You're good. We already have an object for a tricycle, it's a motorcycle with a side car making it 3-wheels. Filipino ingenuity.👍 This car right here is imported from either India or Thailand but it's known worldwide as tuk-tuk hence it should be called that way.

The word “tuk tuk” is specifically used in Bangkok, a dynamic and exciting Asian city that is every budget foodie’s dream. Generally, a tuk tuk is any type of motor vehicle with three wheels. Filipino translation = Tricycle. When in Rome.....

The rental company probably called it that because foreigners insist on calling it that and that’s the more familiar name to you. Traditionally it’s called tricycle in the Phils regardless of the form (some even have 4 wheels lol)

Which parts of the country are you going to? I spent a year ther once. Food Shock - Balot, chicken intestines on a stick. OK/for clicks - westerner tryz Jollybee. Learn to make Adobob. Drink coke out of a plastic bag. If you're going to Manila, Cebu, Puerto Princessa or Olangapo let me know I know those places well.

I spent a year in the Philippines and loved it, if you get the chance to visit the remote island of Polillio off the east cost of Luzon Island(Manila Island) its incredible. I went as part of an medical/church group once and it was amazing. I planted a tree there.

Hey Guys - a little tip on how to eat the Pork Sisig (the one you got at J-Kat for breakfast). The egg is mixed with the meat WHILE the plate is hot -- that should add texture to the sisig. You can squeeze the calamansi (the little green lemon on top of the plate lol), for added kick. Best eaten with rice! Love your videos, have been watching 4 days already lol.

Bamboo straws are so eco friendly, it is the 2nd fastest growing plant in the world, self propagating and the wood is strong, light and anti bacterial. Fast food outlets, cafes and bars take note and ditch the plastic.

I hope so. When I'm in the Philippines my cousins always have to tell me to stop giving to the beggars, and instead buy stuff from the street kids who are working hard and selling handmade jewelry, bottled water, etc. If I saw that kid I'd buy half his inventory of bamboo straws.

For a third world country, The Philippines is one of the easiest countries to travel on for foreigners. Even kids who sell on the streets in the province knows how to speak basic English! That's so commendable and impressive! If you encounter them, try to buy 1 or 2 of the product. It is a great help for their education and puts food on their plate. :) Safe travels guys!

Luckily we made some friends on the island who told us about all the best spots, especially up north. And a surprising amount of restaurants are on google maps, but our favorite way of cool places was just driving around and watching for signs on the side of the road. :) We definitely loved that Siargao allowed us to have such fun and delicious adventures all the time!

i understand most islands you might be able to transport one to, So I think I would buy or rent one and travel in that... looks a lot more practical than a bike... well for a 59 yr old anyway... it can carry your kit and keep you dry in the sudden rain showers etc... and has more road presence...

Where did you rent it? Its a much better alternative to a motorcycle in places like this, with the rain and you can take all the luggage with you if you want.. :) And yes, to the other comments, it is not a tricycle. That would be a motorbike with some add ons to it :) The term "Tuk-Tuk" is more popular in other countries though, but thats what most people would have heard already. In the country where the Bajaj or the TVS company is from (India) it would be a auto rikshaw. And so on, depending on the country. You could also say Three-Wheeler. Most importantly, it is defined as a car, by the filipino law, so you can drive where tricycles wouldnt be allowed, which is true for some bigger roads in the Philippines.
