@@TheNarrowboatPirate Does leaving the invertor on drain the batteries I know on our boat we only put the invertor on if we need power but we don't leaxve it running not sure if all boats are the same..

@@judiehenderson8904 ahoy, I only put my inverter on when cruising or engine is on to charge the dyson or use the washing machine. I don’t leave mine on all the time, but yes everyone’s set up is very different 😃

Good luck on your journey and learning to travel on your narrow boat. If a hard cheese even once the oil is separating out and it's soft it is ok to eat. I've carried oily hard cheese well wrapped on my bike while cycle touring, for a couple of weeks in hot weather, no problem.

You need to check how old your batteries are and have your alternator check. There are hundreds of Narrowboat Vloggers who would be happy to give you advice. A Narrowboat is just like a Car you have to check your engine, fuel, and oil before getting on the Road/ Canal. But, you will learn as you go. Best of Luck on your New Adventure in life.

Very exciting!! We hope the first cruise went okay and you have been enjoying boat life! ☺ He is generally okay and just settles down on the sofa when we leave him and go out, however he does bark when we lock him inside and we are on the move! We generally only do this going through locks and over aqueducts because he tries to jump up the walls! 😅 Hope your dog is settling in okay! 🐶x

Loving your videos guys. Just a thought on the fridge, does it have a manual switch between 12 volt and 240 volts? Electric consumption and solar input becomes a mad obsession when living off grid 😂

Thank you Nick! 😎 Unfortunately it isn't, just a standard 240v fridge :( Oh well! Haha, yeah, we tend to check it all the time! Especially the tiniest bit of sun and its "quick check the solar" 😅

@@BoatTime That's a shame. I'd recommend the Dometic compressor fridges if you change it, we have a CRX50 in our motorhome. We did just get a cheapish Dellonda compressor fridge for our mini camper we just built which has been brilliant and efficient.

Hi,I know very little about batteries but it sounds like they may need replacing or the alternator isn’t fully recharging them.I believe a battery lasts approximately 5 years,or a bit longer,depending on how it’s looked after.Hope you enjoy cruising.

They were replaced just before we bought it, and I believe they are charging properly! I think there's a slight problem with the bar readings, but I think the numerical voltage is accurate(ish)! 😅

Lead acid batteries can only go dead flat of charge (below 12v) so many times before they are knackered and won’t hold charge, generally they should last 3 to 5 years if maintained correctly, do you know when you had new ones fitted?

The boat came with a brand new set of batteries, so the batteries themselves are fine. We know generally what the issue is, it’s just that we use a lot of power so need waay better batteries. Our current set is 4 x 105amph
