Try ADOBO (UH-DOH-BOH), its pork & chicken stewed in garlic, soysauce and vinegar, Dalena will love that im sure! It's what I'll call Filipino Soul food. Also you should have tried the REAL Filipino dishes on the Menu, the SINIGANG (sour soup) & SISIG 😊. and BALUT (BAH-LOOT) if available, balut is a soft Boiled egg but with a small chick inside. You can skip eating the chick inside if it creeps you out, but the broth inside the egg is delicious! Those are the dishes worth calling Authentic Filipino. 😉👌 If you get to visit PH, look for CnT Lechon, Ayer Lechon or Rico Lechon, those are my top lechon brands! Dont try Zubuchon even the locals doesn't like that brand haha.. It was sad Bourdain only got to try one brand and he thought that was already the best.

Filipino foods are usually made to be eaten with rice, like in the same bite! We have foods specifically called "sud an" which is basically "a dish accompanying rice", and it's usually some kind of meat. We use spoons and forks instead of chopsticks so we can heap "sud an" and rice in the same bite. This is why the flavors are so salty and strong by themselves, they're made to be balanced out with rice. Glad you got to try it out!

Love the crackle of the lechon kawali! ❤️ The brown sauce is normally paired with lechon, grilled /fried pork and chicken dishes. The pork barbecue skewers are usually dipped in a spiced vinegar sauce. If you get a chance to try out other Filo restos, please do so - and try to get recommendations from Filo friends or the restaurant owner. The food you ate are mostly grilled and good for breakfast (tapa, bangus). I was looking forward to seeing you try the salmon belly sinigang - traditional sour tamarind soup which is cooked wth either pork or seafood 😊

Here are some reference for you guys. Brown mysterious sauce = Sarsa (popular brand is Mang Tomas, otherwise it is a home cooked pork liver with varying spices) Lechon = the one you ate is called "Lechon Kawali". The one you might be looking is simply called "Lechon" like the pig suckling you described in China. Not sure about the taste difference since I haven't tried the Chinese version. Bangus = Milkfish. It has a lot of tiny fishbones if they don't de-bone it. I LOLed at the banging and it sounded like Bang bus. Halo-Halo = Famous Filipino dessert. Halo halo literally means "mix-mix" so you have to mix everything before consuming it. We do have spicy dishes although limited compared to other Asian countries. Our spice levels might not also compare to India or Thailand, but we're no slouch when we cook spicy foods. Most of Filipino dishes are on the salty, sweet, and sour side, and our dishes are basically influenced by many nations - Chinese, Asian, American, Spanish, etc. so some might resemble a dish that looks similar to their cuisine, but the taste is authentic Filipino. We also have bitter and spicy ones ^_^ Not sure how sweet tooth Dalena can be but our sweets can be really sweet. Food Suggestions: 1. Pork Sisig (a true Filipino delicacy and 100% Filipino) 2. Kare-Kare (Beef oxtail usually but better ask the resto since pork is also used, indian inspired food - not spicy) 3. Chopsuey (mixed veggies, Chinese inspired dish) 4. Lechon (Spanish influence) 5. Bicol Express (pork dish, spicy food) 6. Sinigang (it could either be seafood, pork, or beef - sour type dish) 7. Durian - must try fruit. no clues haha! 8. Balut - must try evening snack. no clues too!

Hi, Dalena & Chonny! I'm so happy you two both got to try Filipino food! The prices are quite high compared to the PI. Typically, where I live (which is Saipan, CNMI that has plenty Filipinos), pork or chicken BBQ stick is only $1 each. The beef tapa is called "Tap-si-log" because Tap is from tapa, Si is from Sinangag= fried rice, & Log is from Itlog= egg. It's typically a breakfast food, where the meat can be replaced. Such as hotsilog= hotdog or Longsilog= Longanisa. You should also try the sisig! It's fried pork ears, but I PROMISE you it tastes delicious! There's also Filipino spaghetti, bicol express, sinigang, and so much more food to try! As well as deserts like Halo-Halo (which means Mix-Mix), leche flan, etc. Have a nice day! :)

The sauce is called “Mang Thomas” used for lechon. It’s either that or vinegar when we eat lechon.

The brown sauce is probably Mang Thomas (a brand). It's a liver based sauce that is usually used for the Lechon. Some areas use vinegar instead of liver sauce. And you were exactly right Chonny, the sauce cuts the fattiness and compliments the crispiness. Keep up the great content. Oh, Hi Dalena!

BeatsByBeyya 1 second ago Some of my favorite Filipino dishes are Torang Talong (Grilled Eggplant Omelette) Sometimes they put ground beef and/or other veggies but i like just the eggplant and egg, they charr the skin and peel it...you just hato try it it super delicious! Kare Kare (Paenut Butter Ox Tail Stew) paired with shrimp paste, use it one the side & eat with rice, Adobo, Menudo, Caldetera...the list goes on! Atcharra is a yummy pickled side too, and pickled mangoes!

I'm Chinese not Filipino but I love Chicken Adobo. You can get pork instead too. What I love about the chicken is lots of grilled onions and vinegary sauce is really unique coming from eating mostly Chinese style chicken. This and the pork skewers are a couple of my faves.

The skewers or pork BBQ here is usually dipped in vinegar sauce. The brown sauce, made of liver etc, is for the lechon. The pickled veggies are to balance or cleanse the palette. We eat most of our dishes with rice thats why it might be saltier than usual.

Awesome video guys! Love love all your contents 😊 Next on the list Chonny and Dalena, try Adobo pork or chicken (the most traditional filo food) and also Dinuguan, it's an acquired taste, Dalena might not try it though cause it's predominantly made of pork. Have fun exploring all different types of Filipino food 😊
