It's called the victoria arches, was used as a WW2 air raid shelter, if you go further in, there is a full underground railway, there is also a phone exchange called the guardian network down there that was built in the 50's to provide phone links in case of an atomic attack, runs from chinatown to ardwick. This place these muppets went into was called the Victoria Arches, if you google it you can find others exploring the place, there are bunk rooms, showers, toilets, there is internal lighting around the place, you can see the light cabling and old sockets above on the ceiling. There is an underground shop structure too, it was basically designed to be a fully functioning city in the case of an attack on manchester. There are power meters and equipment near arch 1A, paper towel dispensers on the walls and all sorts. Access can be gained from several manholes in the city, or there are some slightly hidden street level access doors too.

@billdoggonejones5 жыл бұрын
It probably isn't. If you look at all the more modern stuff, urinals, etc, it looks like either a cold war bunker, or some kinda council complex for sewer maintenance. My reasoning is the following: If it were an air raid shelter, would there not be a large entrance for people to enter quickly? Why are there so many random rooms and halls? The largest air raid shelters in London were the London Underground stations. Would it not be sensible that the largest air raid shelters were public Underground structures in this region? In short, this place is probably an old council building, or construction site.

I admit I was wrong, they were initially constructed during Victorian times and then converted later into WWII bomb shelters.

Anyone who didn't know Manchester is actually built on old Manchester. People have found old tunnels and one well known one was a guy literally appeared from nowhere in a bank and nobody knew how or where from. An if you look at the banks of the rivers you can see old windows that used to be there in certain places. You could explore so much under Manchester it's unreal and tunnels are still being discovered now as buildings are being developed I've been fortunate enough to go under myself legally and see the old streets that still exist underneath.

First things first. good video, I like it a lot, not hating. But I just had to get my detective glasses on. 1st sound: Door Bangs Open and Shrieks because of a small draft. 2nd sound: Girl Screaming? I don't hear shit. 3rd sound: Pipes. I mean c'mon lads. 4rd sound: Sounded like a brick slidng down something or a piece of metal grinding on another. 5th sound: Same shit as the 4th. 6th sound: A thinner pipe as it was higher pitched and closer to the outskirts of the city centre. (You can tell because it was louder where the deeper ones were further away). I've been there and I didn't really experience some weird shit, just sounded like some Pipes banging and bricks sliding off one another. Maybe cars and people passing and screaming. Not fake, just misunderstood.
