FIRST Freedom to Learn Homeroom in the Freedom Summer 2024 series. This special Homeroom will unpack the important decision to strike New Hampshire’s educational censorship law (HB-2) down as unconstitutional. We will welcome Deb Howes (AFT New Hampshire President), Dan McNeil (AFT General Counsel), Paul Ortiz (University of Florida), Tina Kim Philibotte (Chief Equity Officer in the Manchester School District), Becky Pringle (National Education Association), Emerson Sykes (ACLU Senior Staff Attorney), Randi Weingarten (AFT National President), and other movement leaders to discuss the legal, policy, and practical impact of the case. They will provide timely analysis and outline the broader implications for the fight back against education censorship. We will also be joined by Jesse Hagopian (Zinn Education Project) who will detail their plans for the upcoming Teach Truth National Day of Action on June 8th. As usual, we will also have our signature segments led by Kimberlé Crenshaw, Kaye Wise Whitehead, and Tim Wise. During this homeroom, we will debut a May 3rd National Day of Action video recapping some of the many activities from that day.
