Loving how Frankie just nopes out of this conversation 😂. That edit was great too.

10:42 noooooo... not back to Elden Ring. I want to hear more of EJs Dark Souls 1 adventures :D thanks for the spoiler warning btw shortly after, since i haven't played the game yet and just wanted to hear EJs general take on it.

I didn't enjoy shadow of the erdtree as much as the base game but I think it has a handful of the best bosses, bayle and the dancing beast come to mind

When I bought Demons Souls on PS5 the guy at the game store asks me "Would you like to insure the games disk for an extra £5 because this game is incredibly hard and you will likely break the disk out of frustration" I laughed and showed him my Dark Souls tattoo on my arm and he looked at me and said "Cool tattoo man what's it from?"

EJ, I was struggling with the Catacombs after beating Ornstein and f***ing Smough. God!!!

Did the RCA guys play Armored Core 6? That one needs its own Erdtree-style DLC sequel 👌

Lore always sounds better when read by a British person. Never played elden ring. i'm still trying to "get gud" at dark souls lol. have a great day red cow family.

GotY for me and nothing comes even remotely close. And it was a great year for games.

Playing methodically certainly drops the difficulty just a smidge. Like I’m playing Silent Hill 2 (2024) right now (on Standard/Standard for my first run) and if you smash every window, collect every item, and save reasonably often… I have 60+ bullets, 20+ shotgun shells, 12 syringes (full heal) and 12 or so health drinks heading into Toluca Prison. It’s impossible for me to get stuck on a boss/enemy encounter.

I personally hated elden ring, to me the open world level design was like playing basketball on a football field. The world is wide as an ocean but deep as a puddle, the constant re-use of assets across 30 of the same mine/catacomb really grated on me. IMO the DLC was much better as the open areas were more concise and actually had rewarding things to find hidden throughout. The amount of times in the base game I would platform to a secret area and fine nothing but a message saying “but, hole” really killed it for me. Best one in the series is Scholar of the First sin, and I will die on that hill until I go hollow

I agree, but Scholar being your favorite is crazy.

Base Dark Souls 2 is so much better than Scholar. The DLC absolutely did do the open world thing better than the base game no question. Bloodborne's the GOAT though.
