I agree with you, but to be fair the amount of meaningless violence and deaths caused to young people in Bōsōzoku is kinda insane, it’s not even gangs that include family associations or organizations or whatever; it’s a subculture designated for youths to rebel against societal norms onto each other until they ‘retire’ around 18 years old. Which is ironic as the whole ‘rebelling’ aspect only to be further pressured into assimilating in a designated hierarchy by other people for a set period of violence in chaos to fight others (that may target the people around you) is what constituted to its downfall.

He's still right. Part of CDPR's design team members originally opposed the addition of Rebecca because of her "loli" design. The issue wasn't that the script was already done at this point. Adding/changing characters and details after already having a script happens more often than people think. Of course the script already being finished would be considered in this process, but it isn't such a big deal that any additional change is opposed for that reason alone. And it wasn't like it was an extremely last minute decision either.

In general, the more people are in a fandom, the more chances for toxic and dumb fans to exist in number. A fandoms toxicity corelates on how many are in it and how accessible it is. So free mobile games and main stream anything usually has toxic fandoms, compared to niche media which are small but at least not stressful and the ratio of actual thinking people to dumb kids/ clout chasers is very ideal.
@Hawk7886 Жыл бұрын

When Garnt brought up how Charlie's takes are uncommon in the anime community, I felt that. I feel like people don't critically analyze anime and react angrily when you point out how this writing choice doesn't make sense or how certain actions of characters don't make sense. I think anime has evolved enough that we can start asking for things that make sense. It's still anime and will still be wacky, but they can still have good plots, consistent characters, good female characters, a nice ending, etc. It's so much fun to absorb media critically and form opinions outside of what the narrative wants you to believe.

They mock learning Japanese from subtitled anime which is true, but 3+ years of watching vtubers with and later without subtitles has done more for my Japanese vocabulary than the previous 20 years of being a weeb combined. I wonder why I still only recognize little fragments of sentences and couldn’t even totally translate it, but now I can use what I do understand and context clues to kind of sort of understand what is being said, which feels like an accomplishment
@kabiedotjpg56832 жыл бұрын
Maybe the sentences are more realistic/relatable irl? Like it isn't scripted so it's more real? Idk

It's because japanese vtubers actually speak regular japanese. No one speaks the way anime characters do. Plus, you're more focused on the vtubers when there's no crazy anime plot going on in the same situation (i would assume)

I think a fanbase gets toxic when it's popular enough that you see a lot of people simping over psychopaths. Neferpitou was a monster and all people focused on is if they're a boy or girl.

It's more that once a fanbase is large enough, there are enough people to make an opinion appear more popular. If 10% of a fanbase with 10,000 people think Pizza Crusts suck, that's only 1000 people: They're ignoreable. But if 10% of a fanbase with 1,000,000 people think that JJK is Mid, that's 100,000 people with trash taste.

@@tims3329 Yesss this exactly. Toxicity is always there, it just scales to a more prominent size as the fanbase gets bigger. A KZbinr with 100 views might have 2% of his viewers be toxic, that's just 2 people. But if he gets 5 million views, that small 2% represents 100,000 people now. That's a wholeass army that hates you, an entire city's worth of people who are toxic. It's damn near impossoble to have a gigantic fanbase without having a significant number of toxic people
