Your home gets prettier and more functional with every project! Slow and steady wins the race, and it kinder to the bank account.

I like how the mirror frames your head like a crown. My hubby is very skilled also. It does take longer but I feel like we get exactly what we want. Great progress.

If it was me I would make finishing the 2nd bathroom a priority and finish the slider door after that.

When we bought our house we knew it would take a lot of work to update it and clean up the over grown bushes. It’s been two and a half years and we’re still not done. My husband works 12 hr shifts and we’ve done 95% of the work ourselves while cash flowing it. Our son is 2 1/2 and only knows construction and changes. lol He went to a friends house and pulled off trim on their island. 🤦‍♀️ Thankfully they were super understanding and we later realized it was only held on by one finish nail. So I guess he saw that there was an issue on his level. 🤷‍♀️ It’s been a long process but completely worth it.

Exciting times at your house! You are really making it exactly what your family needs and it is refreshing to watch you make an orderly careful plan for how and when changes occur.

I married a carpenter moved to our fixer upper forever home 25 years ago and we did it all ourselves. I also underestimated time got better at hidden costs along the way and I’m loving watching you two on your journey. I’m your mom’s age just on final bits of death cleaning bc I’m not doing to my kids what my parents left for us. Sooooo much more time for fun stuff with less to look after I run roombas on each floor!

37 years later still under construction. There will always be something. By the time you finish one part of the house. The first thing you started is old and needs to be updated. Things change depending on the flow of the house. What I see is you have a good idea what works for you and the quality. Grant does a great job. I had a vinyl white fence put around my house. A couple of years later decided to put concrete around the house. Workers took off the door. Easier for pouring concrete. Afterwards the fate door is off. Big gap. Had painters a few years later. Paint was splashed on not to old concrete. Seems every time I have workers something else goes wrong. Take your time. You are blessed to have a good knowledgeable (carpenter) and many other trades. Quality work. Love your ideas of how everything is going to look. Exciting! Can’t wait to see the finishes. Take care! Blessings

I agree 100% with this! When we moved we hired movers and I wish I could turn back time and do it all myself. So many things went wrong and were trashed. This is why we also do a lot of things ourselves. I hope you have a great Monday!

Shannon, the door will be great and let in so much light. My husband too, always reminds me that good things take time. He always has me double the time and the budget and then says “ we’ll be ahead if we save time or money”. He’s usually right! I’m happy for you!

It always costs more and takes longer than we think. My husband was a carpenter/drywall before retirement. He really dislikes having someone else do anything. Same as your husband, very high standard of work. Love the new door, going to look so nice when done.
