Just taken delivery of my EV3 Air long range, it’s brilliant. So comfortable to drive, so much tech it will take me a week to read the manual. I only plan to trickle charge as I don’t do more than 30 miles a day so can charge overnight and have it back to 89% for the next morning. My first electric car and delighted having just undertaken my first charge. Have heard some negatives about the Air spec not having electric seats and boot opening , but for an extra £5k and all the features it has you are paying a lot for not much.

Sometimes I think im doing quite well and earn a decent salary, then I hear a £37k car being referred to as affordable.

Waiting on delivery of an EV3 in January. Here in Ireland it comes in 3 variants, Earth 2 (with a 57kw or 81kw battery), Earth 3 (only 81kw) and GT Line (81 Kw). The Air model reviewed isn't as well kitted out as the Earth 2 over here. We have gone for the Earth 3 which has 19 inch alloys, electric and heated seats, phone charging pad etc and comes in at €44,000. The GT line is €48000 and has a sunroof etc.

… you are fortunate to have Kia importers that listen to both the buying public and your wallet unlike here on ‘treasure island’

I can see KIA UKs logic in only supplying 3 trinm levels, but with the fast approaching "luxury car tax", (which hasn't changed for years and should by now be £48k for ICE cars and about £4K more for BEVs) they will only be selling Air models (the GT-Line is only below the £40K with the orange colour that most markets don't seem to have). In Korea the Air trim can be had with HUD, Heated/Cooled Seats, auto boot etc. as extras.

Is it true that the GT Line (supposedly going to be the top seller) is only available in ghastly orange if you want one under 40k? Any optional colour choice in the configurator seems to put it over the line. Compare that with the Skoda Elroq with a tasteful blue basic colour and a range of metallic choices that don't take the price over 40k. May not matter now but will after April when the luxury car tax applies.

Hopefully KIA will see sense, like with the Niro, and ditch the orange.

Forgot to mention that if you configure the Elroq to match the spec of the EV3, you will be paying an awful lot more than for the EV3

@@rogerevans425 Yes, but at least it won't be orange!

the GT line has lower range than the Air Trim - because it has large wheels

I don't think the Air trim has vehicle-to-grid or vehicle-to-load unfortunately. Do correct me if I am wrong...

Not sure it has 1500W outlet by tge rear seat but V2L should be available via a J1772 Adapter Patiently waiting for one to arrive in Canada

I don't know anyone who has €36,000 in their account to pay for it. Nor do they have to pay the instalments on a loan to finance the car. What makes you think that €36,000 is affordable? Affordable would be at most 20000€ for most workers and employees who don't get a company car.

For me the suspension is too soft, and the placement of the screen for climate control is close to being criminally stupid 😂
