The “hyena” looks more like a wild mama pig (sow) with suckling young. The nose is very stubby, and there appears to be a ridged back. I live in the USA where feral pigs wild boar, etc are a nuisance. Looks much the same.

@@CallmeGNana That's pretty cool. Unfortunately, Buzby is my married name. My ex-husband, whose name I kept, was adopted by his step-father, whose name was Buzby; my ex-husband, who was born in Pennsylvania, was a Sherman by birth. I was adopted as well, so I have no idea what my biological maiden name is. I wish I had a way to find out, but it was a closed adoption in 1967; the records are sealed. I did have a DNA test and it showed that I was predominantly of British, Irish, German and Swiss extraction, along with traces of a few others. I appreciate the information you gave me. I think I may pass along that connection to my ex-husband. Btw, I didn't think that figurine looked like a hyena either, more like a dog or perhaps another pig. Do you think maybe the Hyena is more likely to be a wolf, with its babies? I liked that find. It was so unusual. Shelf material for sure...but the little terracotta bubble pipe was also very interesting. So tiny and very cute. That also would be a good shelf addition. That place is so full of treasure. Have you ever studied the different types of Codd bottles? First thing to notice is whether its a two or four pinch neck. The pinches, as you probably know, were to hold back the marble when pouring your drink, and stop it from rolling down and blocking the flow. There are also square shouldered Codds and even Codd Hamilton hybrids, which as you can imagine has a Hamilton (Bullet shaped) bottom with a Codd top. There are collectors that specialise solely in Codd variants. Look out also for coloured applied lips, blue and rarely red. Codd bottles were sometimes made in blue glass and command silly prices. Here's hoping you might find one ! Best of luck from Cornwall

Your little hyena find reminds me of the statue of Romulus and Remus, the Roman twins raised by a wolf. They had been abandoned on the river Tiber. After killing Remus, Romulus went on to establish Rome.
