We Fit NGK Laser Iridium Plugs and NGK Coils On A 2NR Engine For Genting Test | YS Khong Driving

Today's modern engines have evolved quite a bit; they now produce more power and are generally more fuel efficient than the early engines that I am used to.
Similarly, for the igniting of the air/fuel mixture, gone the are days of spark plugs that laste only 6,000 to 10,000 kilometers, and one single coil for the engine.
Today we have plugs that are used for up to 100,000 kilometers and also a single coli for every cylinder. What used to be on our racing cars are now in day to day cars, and in many cases, the technology has evolved to be even better than what we knew to be the best back in the days.
NGK has been in the automotive industry for close to 60 years now, and spark plugs and coils are their core products; in fact, NGK is the world's largest producer of spark plugs and ignition coils.
My relationship with NGK ahs always been a good one - I have used NGK products in my race cars, and they have never failed me.
NGK is an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) supplier to many automotive brands, and also makes REM (Replacement Equipment Manufacturer) parts for plugs and ignition coils. The REM parts are designed as replacement parts for the original, and they are manufactured to be as good as the original. They also make parts that improve performance, but for our exercise, we just wanted to check out if the replacement parts, in particular, the spark plugs and coils would perform as well as the original, and of course the best test would be to take the car up Genting.

As a Yaris owner myself, and driven manual car before changing to Yaris, I often use the Sports Mode (without switching to manual) when I am going for uphill / downhill condition like Genting. Sports Mode will make the gear switching behaves almost like manual by keeping the engine RPM at the optimum level, and even does engine braking, which is ideal for downhill situation.

and the spring kinda stiff when u change to sport, tried sport mode and manual, manual kinda interrupt the sports mode, so when using manual, no sport mode, when using sport mode no manual hahaha

I have Toyota Auris and had Yaris for several years, Aftermarket NGK is everywhere in North West England, So I prefer Denso SC16HR!

Ngk iridium are the best spark plugs they last twice as much and also the power is delivered more progressively without power surges but costantly especially notable on turbo engines like my Peugeot rcz 200 thp which is an engine which doesn’t like city traffic

if you're looking for performance, buy NGK Iridium. if you're looking for longevity, buy NGK Laser Iridium. but tbh normal iridium is ok since it lasts around 60,000km which is pretty good for me.

In the hierarchy of plugs, laser iridium is placed higher because they last longer, around 100,000 km. Laser iridium also generally cost more.

btw, YS i m a beemer n merc guy, the yaris for pegi short trips shopping, but still toyota is slaugtering us. i got my old altis, add on struts bar all over, feel great with 2 litre overhauled engine. i always enjoy ur show YS.
