Tutorials. Not strictly step by step but stuff you’d have wanted to see when learning about mechanics. Like ChrisFix is good but it doesn’t show the genuine struggle of how one rusted bolt over here in the uk can ruin your day when you’re just working on jack stands in the drive, can’t get an extension on the breaker bar, knuckle bashing, propane fuelled rage sort of deal

It doesn't make sense for that being a tds box, the ratios are actually shorter compared to a regular m52 ZF . I just checked first and second are massively shorter (tds 1st is 5.09:1, 328 is 4.23. TDS 2nd is 2.8, 328 is 2.52), 3rd is mildly shorter (0.1 shorter for TDS) and 4th and 5th are basically the same. the thing that is longer in the TDS is the diff, it's a 2.56 vs a 2.93 in a 328 and 3.15 in a 325. Also haven't watched it all the way through so idk if you had that issue, but if you had a tds box, you would have to remake the trans mount. Diesels sit more upright for turbo clearance, and so does the transmission, so when mounted on a gas engine the angle is different and therefore height of mounts too, so the trans mount is different from one to the other. Edit: also at some point we see the part number of your old box, and while my 5min research didn't come up with anything conclusive, I see lots of posts of americans talking about that part number and debating whether it's a 328i box. So can't be TDS since they didn't get that in America. Honestly I just think it's a 328 box, you should look what your diff is. Either way there's not really a ZF box that's longer than a regular 328. Even getrags.

I like the idea of a 340i badge which looks original - the fitted one is too small for my OCD! Reckon you could make a genuine looking one by carefully cutting the 5 of an E34 540i badge, and join it to the 3 off your 328i badge.
