Good video on roller bearing problem and replacing. It’s nice to see sawyers that have problems share there experience and fixes. I’m a mechanic and I always research parts and cross part numbers to find the best part and where it’s made. I find most of good bearings at Napa . Great job application you sharing and take care.

Thanks for the video. I couldn't how to adjust everything on woodmizers site. What did you measure to level the arm? It was at 7" but I couldn't see what you were measuring. Thanks

thank you for posting this video. relatively new LT15 wide owner here. set my mill up and have cut a few logs. going to check the setup when it warms up a bit and see how off the mill was out of the box. only thing i was thinking is that shouldn't you reference the blade off the tracks that the saw carriage rides on, rather than the bunks ?
@mcsawmill
@mcsawmill 10 ай бұрын
Definitely measure to the bunks not the rail. But before you start to check anything make sure the saw is perfectly flat and level with no sag in the middle or do all your measuring on the same bunk. The saw frame will flex up to 1/4 inch as the saw moves over it if you don't have all the feet set perfect.

Had to skip forward , didn't want to see you cut yourself more, why no socket or end wrench? Also on my LT 15 I use that big builders square you had at the end of the video to lay on the bed to check the blade height, get no deflection when your tape or ruler isn't plum and very easy to read. The outside of the head need to come up a 1/16" + to cut square. I use a little short piece of aluminum 1/4" flat stock to run under the alinement tool, just slide it forward and back ward to get the blade level. Great welders sock cap, where did you get it. What a great video covering all the adjustments for the cross slide, rollers and blade settings, better than any I've see on the tube. Wasn't being a smart A__ but just notice a few things that might help you out. Last thing, get a piece of leather and lay it over the blade, your gonnnnnnna cut your arm or worse, juggler..lol Great video 👍👍👍👍👌👌 OH, almost forgot, heard many say the auto travel doesn't work well, what do you think about it? I want one if it works on mine, Do more videos please. National bearings, number 1

Suggestion: buy some locknuts. They only have a vew (very few) installation lifespans. Open bearings, unless you grease the crap (pun) out of them will accumulated chips, dust and dirt.

These are supposed to be sealed bearings, the open ones are for the greaseable rollers.

The bearings always wear out quickest on the side that the water comes out.
@mcsawmill
@mcsawmill 9 ай бұрын
I get that because they get wet, but the replacement had seals on both sides, the bad one had no seal on one side so it would accept grease but I don't have greaseable wheel.

Same thing happened on mine! Kinda frustrating but relatively easy fix. I ordered the pulley with the bearings in it … going to get extra bearings from Amazon as back up. I have to check the blade tracking next … it’s definitely not cutting correctly. Thanks for posting

My LT15 is now 2 years old. I've got no complaints.

Yep. That's what happens when you run water to keep the blade cool. It gets into the bearings and rusts them. I owned a LT50 and now a LT 70 . I never had a roller bearing failure because I run diesel fuel as a lube and I occasionally pop the seal off the bearing and repack with high-speed wheel bearing grease. I just did a video of this procedure for a lawnmower bearing that I fixed. Check it out. kzbin.info/www/bejne/maq7c62Fjcd_hqc

Once I replaced it with a sealed bearing it hasn't been a problem, but your point is valid, diesel would have prevented the failure

You know harbor freight sells 3/8 drive ratchets and shallow sockets. 🤔 Your to old to be cutting yourself up like that 🧐. Anyway great video on those bearings, really good info. I just bought a used 2017 LT28 yesterday and have been watching everything I can find on maintenance on it. Thanks for the heads up 👍

yea I get it but I'm not doing production cutting of 8" boards, I'm doing very wide stuff so if you are off just a little that can mean 1/2" at the other end of a 35" wide board. It does matter.
