Do people not normally eat soup like that? We were taught this as kids by our grandmother. She used to say "like a little ship at sea, my spoon it sails away from me". It is done that way so that any liquid that is going to drip falls back into the bowl before you bring the spoon to your mouth.

Very curious as to what countries royalty you are following...it can't be English royalty, as etiquette dictates that the Queen is always the LAST to arrive and last to enter. It is a respect thing (as all eyes will be on her) as it is also a safety thing. The only time that protocol is not followed is at a wedding. At a wedding, the Queen is the second to last to enter. Followed only by the bride. So idk what country they were using but it wasn't the monarchy of the Windsor's.
