I just want to clarify that if a word starts with a vowel sound like hour or herb, it's AN. if it starts with a consonant sound then is A.

I think to some extent the trio are the assholes in this episode for making fun of the English used in letters. The subtitles of their videos have mistakes as well. Would they like viewers to scrutinize the subtitles and make fun of that as well?

further add on, in HDB use case, we are saying "H" first, and in UK, H is pronounced aitch, vs other parts of the world, pronouncing H as Haitch. So in this use case, it should actually be "an HDB" because SG should be pronouncing HDB as AitchDB, therefore start with "an"

@@animacroix If we can dish it, we will take it too, in fact - there has been numerous occasions that the the subtitles has errors, which we eventually open the subtitling job to audiences and viewers and we pay them for it, so now as a matter of fact... The subtitles are done mostly by our viewers :o

No, it's cuz as a standalone letter, H is pronounced aitch. so an HDB flat, a housing board flat. It's based on the pronunciation. Another eg is an SMS. But you're right if it's 'hour' cuz H in hour is silent. So it's an hour

@25:46 I believe that everyone has the right to know about things. The mother has asked that the family not to mention about the father, but in this case, it was the nephew who wanted to know about the situation. In this case, it was the mother who has failed to explain to the son about the situation. OP would be the AH if he had just mentioned that information without any prompting. Maybe this is due to the typical asian stereotype and culture that don't accept anything other than a traditional view, where a man must be male, and lady must be female, coupled with the culture of keeping everything under wraps.

I will tell the nephew and i will tell the nigel’s girlfriend in that example. Facts dont change and dont care about her wishes. If it didnt come from the uncle it could have came from another source. What makes the source “more okay”? Mothership? Even so doesnt change the fact that it happened. I am a strong believer that if you want to gossip about someone, dont expect the person ure gossiping to wont say anything out even if that’s your best friend or spouse. if it happened to me i wouldnt fault my brother, (the uncle) in this case.
