The Swedish chef piece made me chuckle. Very good video, as usual. Trankil you gays.

Used to live in Grand Falls-Windsor. Instantly recognized the area you hiked. I used to see those mushrooms all the time and had no idea!

Newfoundland Outdoors is back! Great episode. I had never seen those mushrooms anywhere, and certainly not home. Question for you since I am losing some of my traditional foodways knowledge being away - but my Nan used to show us how to find what we called root beer berries. They're usually very low to the ground, oblong and white, shaped and sized about the size of a decent freshwater pearl, -- tender berries without much of a skin. They tasted a lot like root beer. We would find them at the foot of spruce trees in places with boggy soil. Did they have those where you grew up in Clarenville? Nan was from Gooseberry Islands but she moved to town when she was 13 and that's where she used to show us- all along the different ponds and trails of the Avalon peninsula, including Middle Cove trails.

YES! I totally forgot about those. But yes, I do remember picking those berries. Not to collect a lot of them, but to just taste them.

Risotto is my favorite! Have never cooked it either. Looked yummy! I guess we can blame it on the mushrooms if we stop seeing videos from you guys! 😆

Oh hahahaha - I guess it's a spoiler alert that we did survive the risotto dinner 😂
