God commands His people to be good citizens, even when we have ungodly leaders (Romans 13:1-6, 1 Peter 2:13-17). If God had placed us under Caesar, the idea of a responsibility to vote would be absurd. But God has placed us in a nation where the ultimate authority is "we the people" (as our Constitution emphasizes in its opening words). The way that "we the people" exercise our authority is by voting. We only have authority because it has been delegated to us by God, as Jesus said in John 19:11 (because ultimately Jesus has the right to all authority everywhere, according to Matthew 28:18). Therefore, God expects every American citizen who truly serves Him to vote, and to do so wisely. Our vote is one of the essential ways that we are "salt" and "light" in a decaying and dark world (Matthew 5:13-16). Ultimately, the purpose of our vote should be to glorify God. Part of glorifying God is to seek the welfare of the place God has assigned to us, even if it is a heathen place (Jeremiah 29:7). All of us know that if our congress member never took the time to vote on any bills, he would be an unfaithful public servant. The hope of every Christian is to someday hear our Lord say "well done, good and faithful servant." Will our unfaithfulness in voting (or failing to vote) cause us to shrink from Him in shame? If we refuse to exercise our authority to vote, will God take away our authority to vote (as suggested by the parable of the talents)?

It must be remembered that the Apostle Paul was a Jewish citizen as well as a Roman citizen. If you read the book of Acts you will see where Paul was arrested and assaulted by the Romans. The Romans then found out that he was a Roman citizen and feared because it was not allowed to beat a Roman citizen without due process. The Apostle Paul also appealed his case to Ceasar because he was a Roman citizen. Paul clearly used his Roman constitutional rights to seek justice as a Roman Citizen. It is no different with Americans who are Christians. You have the right to vote and use your citizenship as the Apostle Paul did. It is biblical.

Good clip. And we enjoyed our "clip" live last night seeing John as he checked us in to Thunder Canyon. This place rocks! And to answer your question, my husband Steve reminds us that governments in Biblical times were either monarchies, set by God, or given when the people asked God for a king. Little to no choice really. About what follows afterwards is written, New International Version When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan. Pastor Greg Laurie quotes the following, that voting is a matter of stewardship, “To him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin” (James 4:17 NKJV). For me, voting fits within the concept of stewardship: doing good, responsibly, and to honor God with the gifts he gives us. In our country, voting is more than a gift, it's our birthright. Let's use it as best we can to honor Him and thwart evil. No perfect choices for whom to vote for though, in our fallen world of sinners (like me!). "We're not voting for a pastor," adds Steve.

Mayflower Compact The Mayflower Compact was the first governing document of Plymouth Colony. It was written by the Separatists, also known as the "Saints", fleeing from religious persecution by King James of Great Britain. They traveled aboard the Mayflower in 1620 along with adventurers, tradesmen, and servants, most of whom were referred to as "Strangers". The Mayflower Compact was signed aboard ship on November 11, 1620 by most adult men (but not by most crew and adult male servants). The Pilgrims used the Julian Calendar, also known as Old Style dates, which, at that time, was ten days behind the Gregorian Calendar. Signing the covenant were 41 of the ship's 101 passengers, while the Mayflower was anchored in what is now Provincetown Harbor within the hook at the northern tip of Cape Cod.

{Australia) As voting in Federal, State and local council elections is legally compulsory for us, our mere presence at a voting site means that we both obey the Law and the Scriptures. However in all honesty, there are those times when a blank vote seems to make some sense as the options that are sometimes on offer at the Federal and State level can be problematic.

This verse isn't directly about voting, but it does apply. In the parable about the talents Luke 19.13, Jesus said to Occupy until I come. Well God gave us this country, and if we don't take care of it and vote, then we aren't occupying it. Not voting is like just burying our talent and seeing what comes.

Jesus said to occupy until I come. Not only should we vote. Christians should lead. Whether as a politician, business, education and artists. We are to occupy. Our Founding Fathers were most all Christian and leaders in different professions. This nation is inspired by and dedicated to God. Christians founded this nation for Christians to occupy and VOTE.

I’m 99.99% sure there is nothing in the Bible that says go vote. But we should obey the laws of the gov. Romans 13:1-2 says: "Obey the government, for God is the One who has put it there. There is no government anywhere that God has not placed in power. So those who refuse to obey the law of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow." My view as a Christian is it is our moral duty to vote and to stamp out as much evil as possible. Although, I also think it is biblical that these times we are in are foretold in scripture. 2 Tim 3:1-5 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God- 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

Here are some to consider: Micah 6:8 (NIV): "He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." This verse calls for justice and righteousness, qualities that voters should seek in their leaders. Proverbs 29:2 (NIV): "When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan." Encourages choosing righteous leaders, as their actions directly affect the well-being of the community. Romans 13:1 (NIV): "Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God." Reminds us of the importance of engaging with government and leadership, as they are part of God's order. Proverbs 3:27 (NIV): "Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act." Voting is a powerful way to contribute to the good of society, ensuring that justice and fairness are upheld. Jeremiah 29:7 (NIV): "Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper." Encourages believers to seek the well-being of their community, which includes responsible civic participation like voting. But I would also add these to point out that nothing happens without God who is always the ultimate authority: Daniel 2:21 (NIV): "He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning." This verse shows that God is actively involved in establishing leadership, reminding us to trust His control over political and leadership shifts. Romans 13:1 (NIV): "Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God." Paul teaches that all authority is under God’s control, encouraging faith that God has a purpose for those in leadership. Proverbs 21:1 (NIV): "In the Lord’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water that he channels toward all who please him." This verse assures us that even the hearts of leaders are directed by God, giving confidence that He can guide their actions for His purposes. Psalm 75:6-7 (NIV): "No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt themselves. It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another." God is the one who raises up leaders and removes them, reminding believers to trust His judgment and timing. Proverbs 16:33 (NIV): "The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord." Even decisions that seem random are guided by God, encouraging trust in His providence in all matters, including leadership. Psalm 22:28 (NIV): "For dominion belongs to the Lord, and he rules over the nations." This verse emphasizes God's ultimate rule over all nations and leaders, reassuring us to trust in His control over worldly affairs. The key takeaway is that we should go into this season of voting through prayer and the leading of the Holy Spirit. There is no such thing as a perfect person, everyone falls short and needs Gods mercy through the gift of redemption through Jesus Christ the Son Of God.

Ephesians 6:10-17 (ESV): 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,

John & Mercedes, if you are looking for a scripture to tell you to vote in the US election, you may be hard pressed. However, I do want to share this from a Kenneth Copeland Ministries magazine article regarding our responsibilities as Believers... "Our nation has a covenant with God in the same way God has a covenant with Isreal. And just like He (God) held every Jew responsible to His prophets and His direction, God holds Christians responsible for America today. As believers, we play a major role in the outcome of this election, Nov. 5th. It is not the responsibility of anu particulat political party. That duty rests solely on the Church. If we do what what we are responsible to do this November, we will see things change for the good in our nation....When you vote in faith, in obedience to God...God will take care of you no matter who is in office or what is hapening in the world. We are encouraged to: Pray, listen to and obey God's voice, then go to the polls in November and VOTE. You may only have a single voice -- but your voice, and your vote, MATTERS!"

The parables of lost sheep. Matthew 18:10-14 and Luke 15:1-7 Both I think applies to voting this November. If you know a Christian that may not vote because they don't like either candidate. Both actions are like a shepherd going out to find its one lost sheep. May God Bless You

The proverbs you quoted is old covenant we’re under a new covenant of grace to answer your question about Christian‘s voting. What did Jesus say when he stood before pilat John 18: 36 ¶ Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. 37 ¶ Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. 38 ¶ Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all. also, Trump is in the club. Elon Musk is going to push us into the Mark of the beast system. It doesn’t matter who you vote for. We’re all heading into the beast system. I appreciate all your work and your sincerity and wanting to know the truth. We’re under a new covenant . It doesn’t matter who’s in the government. We lay down our life and pick up our cross and follow Jesus just like in the book of acts the early church was persecuted by the Jews and by the Romans and they didn’t care who the president was. They still serve Jesus Christ sorry for the long comment. Blessings in Jesus name.

It seems to me like he may be paraphrasing one of the verses in the passage John 7:4. I don't know. I don't recall reading any verse like that in the Bible in any version.

Could be John 7:26 Jesus was speaking publicly when the rulers were trying to kill him. Or Luke 12:8 I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God. It’s not about just voting but publicly stand up to being Christians and we must vote.

I think this comes mostly from prayer. We rule through our sincere prayers in faith. The scripture says that we have not because we ask not, and when we do ask we have to build His kingdom upon His answers, not our own kingdoms. This messenger that you have highlighted is the result of God’s people praying. Not to say I’m ungrateful for him and you. 😉

No one got to vote in Biblical times. We WORSHIP Jesus , we elect leaders. We vote because the leaders must represent the people in governance. We should select wise Godly men. Not perfect ones , they all will be sinners , the ones who proclaim Jesus is Son of God is who we elect.

Luke 20:22 “Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no? But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me? Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Caesar's. And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's.”

I always fall on the verse " Give Cesar what belongs to Cesar and render to God what belongs to God." I try to follow this verse when I'm "of this world but don't belong to this world," and need to make decisions such as voting. Moral obligation to vote for the person that's Christian and follows God's laws before our man made laws. Especially when you did something to stop the evil.

As you research, you must research only the New Testament because we’re under a new covenant. The reason people are deceived is because they take the promises made to Israel from God under the law and try to apply them to the new covenant. Only part of the new covenant is of the 10 Commandments You shall love the Lord die God with all my heart all my mind, all the soul and all the strength and the neighbor as they sell, and of course they shall not commit adultery shall not kill that shall not cover it, but as far as the Sabbath day and the animal, sacrifices and dietary laws they do not apply to the New Testament church. Blessings in Jesus name.

Is he putting the admonition not to hide your light under a basket into his own words? This ia what I hear. I don't like his version, it goes beyond the text in a way that is off because he credits his paraphrase to the Lord when it is not.

The only time Jesus marveled, had to do with faith or unbelief. Matthew 8:10 (Faith) and Mark 6:6 (unbelief). Jesus taught this but I don't know of what exact verse this preacher is referring to. Faith requires action. If you have Faith in this country then get out and vote. If you don't vote then your full of unbelief. Its as simple as that. Read James 2:17-18. Faith without works is dead.

So, you're going to vote for a thief and a liar??? They all are, hello! If these scripture verses do not pertain to you just tear those pages out of your Bible. Rev.18 [4] And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. John.15 [19] If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. ...Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.

So you’re convinced that it’s important for Christians to vote, but you need scripture to support your conviction. I’m confused, it appears you’re simply looking for justification for something you already are convinced is true. That’s the very definition of circular logic. Based on your comments, it sounds like you two don’t personally need justification to vote, but you need scripture to convince other Christians to vote.? Am I right? It is my belief that, at this moment, politics is doing great harm to the church, and leading many Christians away from the Word and toward a desire for worldly power. Personally, as a believer and an American, I will justify my vote by serving truth. Jesus is the way, the TRUTH, and the life. There is one candidate who is sacrificing truth on an altar of lies in exchange for power. I will be voting for the other candidate. Sorry I could not help.
