This is the problem with gun laws. We have a constitutional right to keep and bear arms. There is no "right" to have a drivers lic yet anyone in one state can drive in any other wo worrying about whether or not their state lic is good in another state. WHY THE HELL CAN'T WE GET THIS FOR OUR RIGHT TO CARRY! It's infuriating what one has to go thru to try and be legal to travel across the country. We need to have a national carry lic. so that citizens who can carry have the right to carry in all states, counties, and towns. It's absurd how many loops you have to jump through to go across this country and still be able to carry.

John and Mercedes I'm glad to see my comments on the video prior to this one about knowing the self defense laws in where you are traveling through didn't fall on deaf ears. I applaud you two for broaching this subject. I thought you two did a very fine job on a very complex subject. Like I said in my earlier post it's not the transporting of a firearm, it will be the method / act of self defense in that local area. I briefly scanned the comments from others with the 2A comments, what one needs to realize is that the absolute greatest threat to our bill of rights is every time a legislature at any level meets. There is no greater threat in my opinion. Another point is to say absolutely nothing except fear for your life or that for your loved ones, and lawyer up immediately invoke the 5th / Right to remain silent within the first 5 seconds as in YOU need to be on the phone calling a lawyer then ( this needs to happen for all in your party). Why? several reasons you are traveling and probably just shot /killed a local person in the act of self defense. It won't matter that he or she was a dirt bag scum of the earth since they was 6 years old. What will matter is the family and friends will push that governmental attorney as well as the local LEO's into frying you in court. The other is that even though we are supposed to be using the same language, more times than not what you say will be misconstrued and twisted, thus will be used against you in a court. That includes any statement that your traveling party says regardless of age, relationship or any other factor. With that being said it's not a mistrust of the police, it is the need to invoke the right to remain silent. Your adrenaline is pumping, your mouth and verbiage has no filter you will be talking your way into a prison sentence. Let the lawyer explain EVERYTHING during the interview with the police. There really ideally should only be one story yours. Like I said earlier in my post of the previous video thank God for them ( the police / LEO's), but they will be pressured by the surviving friends and family of the person you killed or shot. Remember your a stranger traveling through, not a member of their community. Now I'm not a lawyer, and what I posted is not legal advice except YOU NEED a Lawyer, but one does not need to be a lawyer to understand why I say what I say. Also don't fall for the trap "oh if you have nothing to hide ...." sorry but that is a fishing expedition used by the LEO's. And trust me it is effective we as humans want / desire validation of being in the right. I apologize for this lengthy post but felt the need to validate your Video. I have only posted comments on youtube or any social media twice in my life and it has been your videos. P.S. and completely off topic did anyone notice that the National Park Service is being sued for going cashless by three people from differing states that should be a interesting video once the ruling comes out

During my one year service as a federal grand juror.... every gun related federal case we the juror heard... one of the first charges was stated that the gun was mentioned as "Interstate". "Interstate" related charges have to do with where the gun was made and the State it was made in. If a gun is manufactured in Connecticut and shipped to a dealer in another State..... The Interstate charge is in effect and brought to existence when the gun and suspect are charged with other related crimes that involves the gun being used to commit crimes.

@RVOddCouple5 ай бұрын
It is absolutely ridiculous
@EfficientRVer5 ай бұрын
If you're in your car, you're supposed to drive away, not shoot someone "trying to hijack" you. If you're not in your car, there is no gun/ammo separation problem. Until you actually pull the trigger, an empty gun can do anything that a loaded gun can do, as far as scaring off someone. And in the incredibly unlikely event that you're being shot at while in your car, hitting the gas is a way better idea than getting into a gun battle. Way too many people think of their guns as their best and only defense. It is never your only defense, and often is not your best defense. That definitely includes when you're in your car and someone is trying to get in. Fight or flight is an easy choice when flight will work and fight can get you killed. Everyone thinks they'll win a gun battle, even when they are taken by surprise by someone who has a head start on you. Just like everyone in the poker room thinks they're better than the other 9 players at the table. There are more fish than sharks, in both cases.

I know this for a fact. You can NOT go on, in or near Bourbon Street in New Orleans, LA with a firearm. You will end up with a code 95 charge at Orleans Parish Justice Center Detention Facility. They have police that specifically patrol only that particular area. Those particular police have body scanners on them. They will know if you have a firearm on you or not. You don't even have to show it. I know this because I used to work at that detention facility as a nurse. A good rule of thumb is "If an area has a high volume of alcohol sales, chances are it is zoned as a gun free zone." which makes sense anyway. Alcohol and firearms do NOT mix ever. Bad combination!!! Question: How can someone retreat in a 30' camper with only one door? Does not seem possible to me. What are the states you won't go to? Another good rule of thumb: Don't give them a reason to stop you. Stay within the speed limit if you have a gun in the vehicle. Drive like you should drive.
@EfficientRVer5 ай бұрын
Surely where I was born and raised (NJ) and where I went to college and spent most of my adult life (MA) made his list. Pretty restrictive laws, but nobody in my family ever had a problem due to that, and in MA, I got an unrestricted concealed carry permit at age 24, no problem. Bit of a hassle sending certified-mail letters to 3 places every time I moved (state office, and police in from/to towns) but never a problem. One MA law of note, is that it is illegal to leave a firearm in a vehicle unattended, out of your "direct control". And you know what? It was kind of nice knowing that criminals and morons could be prosecuted for violating tight laws like that, if they got stupid and left a gun in their car door pocket for someone else to steal. Oops, did I just call John a moron for doing that? As for cops not bothering you if you stay within the speed limit, I'll say that it helps, but is far from a guarantee, at least if you drive through Kansas. They are well known for conducting illegal stops and illegal searches, and are under federal court orders to knock it off. But this April 20th I was heading home from NV to NH, and happened to be passing through Kansas on I-70 a bit before Topeka. Note that Kansas is a "zero tolerance" state for marijuana, sandwiched between two legal-pot states, Colorado and Missouri. And note that April 20th is 4/20, and 420 is associated with pot. I am not a pot user. Just an old guy driving a Prius 65 in a 70 down I-70, on radar cruise control with lane assist. Car loaded up with cameras, astronomy gear, a freezer full of PowerAde and water bottles, a bed, and camping gear after a solar eclipse expedition in TX, visiting an RV nomad in AZ, and hiking in NV. My car has an alarm that goes off if I wander from my lane. It did not go off, and I was not wandering in my lane. They stopped me for wandering in my lane and "driving on the shoulder line". Said they were checking that I was OK. When they saw I was sober and perfectly fine, they said they'd run my plate and license, and just give me a warning. Then 3 more troopers arrive. A canine circles my car and puts his paws on my rear passenger window. Suddenly they say they have probable cause to search, and take me a couple car lengths in front of the car, with the canine cop keeping me there while 3 or 4 others rummage through my car for 15-20 minutes. When I told him I'd been camping near Area 51, he told me his story of seeing a UFO. Hopefully someday he'll remember they probed him and the dog. The head cop then says "He's right, there's nothing. Let's go." No apology, no hesitation to get back into their positions to illegally search someone else. And off they go, leaving me to re-pack my car, in an empty weigh station entrance. As I rolled out of the weigh station, the scale lit up. I was rolling down the road at 4180 pounds, with a GVWR of 4115. The one thing they could have gotten me for, they missed! I could not stop laughing. They'd been pretty polite and relaxed, but I was pissed about having my rights trampled. Despite having been 15 minutes from where I was planning to stop for the night, and very tired, I drove onward until I was out of Kansas. Kansas is now the only state on my no-go list. Though I know you should never answer any question from a cop, when they walked me away from the car, they asked if I had any weapons on me, and I told them I had 2 knives in my pocket. The canine cop just said "As long as they stay there, we won't have a problem." They asked whether there were weapons, knives, needles, chemicals, or anything else dangerous in the car. I told them what was where, not much. When I got back home and was unpacking, I ran across a machete and two bear spray canisters I'd forgotten to tell them about. So in 20 minutes, 4 guys can't find a machete or bear spray. What are their chances of finding pot if you hid it? Surprisingly, they didn't used the dog when searching. It's probably just trained to alert on command, but wouldn't know a drug stash or a bomb, if it tripped over it.

@@EfficientRVer Yes we had an issue in Kansas early on in my travel nursing career. We were traveling at night and my hubby was driving. Long story short, got pulled over. He got arrested and taken to the hospital for a blood draw. Then taken to the local detention center. I was able to get him out a few hours later. We went on to our next assignment but went back to get a lawyer. I wish I could have seen the look on the cop's face when the blood work came back negative for everything. Plus a lawyer in the room. Would have been priceless and picture worthy. We steer clear of Kansas also.

there are certain municipalities and states that, if you had to drive thru, you must not stop under any condition else you fall under their laws and do not have the "in-transit defense" ...
@ronvaughan80415 ай бұрын
New York is like that. If you stop for the night you are technically in violation. But then again that whole state just feels like you're about to get arrested for some obscure law that you don't know about. They are so special that their speed limit signs even are designed different than any other state.
@bigrollinghome20915 ай бұрын
@@ronvaughan8041 I love the "25 mph unless otherwise posted" and then you see a 35 mph sign ... so when does it stop being 35? whenever they want ....

@@ronvaughan8041 There are only 6 states I can drive to without driving through either New York or Canada. New York is the easier option, by far. Kansas is the only state I plan to never drive through again. They are crazy aggressive about making bogus traffic stops, giving bogus canine drug alerts, and then claiming probable cause for a bogus vehicle search. I'm glad I'm not a pothead, or they would have caught me when they mistook me for one. On 4/20, coming from Colorado. Lehto's Law had warned everyone about the "Kansas Two Step" stops, but you just don't believe cops can get away with that, until it happens to you. Despite being clean, and them finding nothing, I continued driving until I was in the next state. It sucks having your right trampled, but there were already federal court orders in place for them to clean up their act, but they just feel their "drove onto the shoulder line" (untrue, and I have lane assist/warning which never triggered) and "dog alerted to drugs" claims are a foolproof way to stop and search any vehicle they wish. Despite the stop being for driving concerns, and the search being for drug concerns, they did seem to spend a lot of time talking about looking for both drugs and weapons. Plus they were undoubtedly also on the lookout for bundles of cash to seize under civil asset forfeiture. The only good thing I'll say about them, is they didn't plant anything and didn't steal anything, and there was plenty of opportunity for both.

@@EfficientRVer Good to know about Kansas. I've been through there a couple of times but never had any problems. But it is a bit of an oddball state... Solid red but then some other quirks that don't add up.

Thanks guys for posting this video. I watched one you posted that bothered me as you mentioned where you kept and what weapons you kept. I would recommend USCCA, and you mentioned US Law Shield, so thanks. BTW, did you know that when personnel who work in law enforcement are involved in a shooting, they are placed on Administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation? Stay safe, stay vigilant, and keep practicing weapon-handling skills.

We refuse to travel those states as well!!! We have had USCCA for about 15 years or more. And I’m over the laws banning my 2A RIGHTS! By the way…. USAA will NOT cover you if you have an accidental firing, it happened to a lady from our church (former EMT & cop) where she had her gun go off with a live bullet instead of the training dummy in the chamber. Went through her apartment wall, struck the leg of a man sitting in his chair! 🤯

IF you're planning to use ANY tool to defend yourself, you need to plan to defend yourself from the ramifications of doing so, legally, civilly. Attorney's on retainer, US Law Shield, USCCA would be and are MY choices. And yes, I have and recommend using a combination of these services.

Just carry a replica Remington 1860 black powder revolver. It’s not considered a firearm. Same thing for Springfield muskets. With practice you can fire 3 shots a minute.

I traveled for years before I retired and always had the top tier of USCCA. Nope that we are retired, we still have the top level of USCCA. The ads for gun owner protection have become so cut throat it has become annoying. Good video as many people don’t have a clue of how against the people our government is.

I have carry licenses from NY,PENN,FLA AND UTAH, you neglected to say which you guys have . Those are honored in 38 or so states plus those that are constitutional carry. I do a brief look at states I pass through , as we travel to a destination state . I bring a lock box , and stick to ten round mags IF I’ll pass through one of the few that requires that .

Actually it is simple. The federal government is the only entity that has jurisdiction over interstate commerce. If a local or state entity tries to interfere with a persons right to transit through any portion of their journey that is a federal violation by the locals. And that will result in their arrest if the victim pushes hard enough to protect their right to transit.

If the unfortunate happens, it is critical to know what to say and not to say to anyone, including responding law enforcement after the self-defense incident. I have found immensely helpful information from the Wilson Combat channel. Of particular help was the video “Massad Ayoob explains making a brief statement after a self-defense shooting.” Critical Mas Ep 77. We, as law abiding citizens, want to be helpful to those who serve & protect, but the responders are required to report what all we said at the scene. Any turn of phrase that the we may use innocently, can be used by the prosecuting attorney against us. For example - never say “weapon”. NEVER! I have a hard time with that one because I grew up knowing that the firearm I was carrying/using can have lethal consequences. Anyway, I hope others find Massad Ayoob’s videos on the Wilson Combat channel helpful.
