Mike killed it! He should be really proud of how well he did his first time out. Both you and he found new hobbies that got you excited. I have to say... when I saw this episode would include gold panning, I thought, ehh... probably not gonna be very exciting. However, your enthusiasm and film work (and Mike's Barber dime thrown in there) made it very fun to watch! Made me wish I was anywhere near a good gold-bearing creek! Thanks for the awesome videos. I love watching you guys go up into the hills and find stuff that you'd never know was there without research, know-how, and the proper equipment.

So beautiful. The wheelbarrow looks like the one from a game of monopoly. I bet those boys might’ve played a game or two there. That river area reminds of a little place here in Oregon, called Tin Cup. My dad taught my siblings and I to pan for gold there. You can also pull the moss off the rocks close to the river, rinse it off in your pan of water and then look for your gold. It’s a lot of fun and if you’re not careful, before you know it, you’ll get yellow fever. Lol.

LOL I'm pretty sure the wheelbarrow is from a Monopoly game too!

Hey Brad, the cool boy scout kerchief thing is called a Woggle. I really love the music you play and it went so well with the stream as it rushed through and over the rocks, gorgeous. I think somebody caught gold fever ;) you did really well panning, awesome. Cool cool video and so pleased you found some as I have watched shows on here where people found nothing. Brilliant, thank you for taking us along. x

the geologists say 90 % of the worlds gold is micro gold, even in AK and here in Ca, Three colors per pan average, thus the suiice, to multiply pan count, and then you gather dust till a nugget comes along, working the odds like digging targets and fishing do it till you get a keeper ! nice Job GMMD !

@5:00, that "Made in England" aluminum piece is a rope tie for a tent rope. Thread the rope through one hole, over the middle, and out the other. Then know it off. Tie the other end of the rope to the top of a tent pole, run it down around a tent stake, and tighten with the aluminum piece by pulling it up. Tension keeps it tight. My uncle's tent uses those.

In the 1960s in the mountains of California my Dad was able to find a source of a small amount of gold in the Moss that grew along the creek sides. They would collect the moss and then dry it out and burn it to retrieve the gold flecks. Not enough to get rich but enough to make it worth doing. We would take miniature gold pans , some black sand and sprinkle a small amount of gold over the sand and then spray clear coat over it all and make tourist Items and Christmas presents from it all OOOO Real California Gold!

I have a 1950s dime and a 1944 penny hanging out at my desk. We always seems to get some really old coin in the till at least once a month so we like to check at the end of the day. I have even found silver quarters and one mercury dime in the till!! So even though I can't go out and swing a coil I do love the feeling of finding that old coin.

Just love the beautiful scenic videos! I enjoy spending hours hunting fossils and arrowpoints but do not think I would have the patience to swirl pans while standing in cold water for minutiae specks of gold. The kneckerchief thing would be called a " waggle " in the boy scouts in England . Interesting thing just for info , the U.k had boy scouts and girl guides , America had boy scouts and probably a similar one for the girls and the Soviet Union had something similar called "The pioneers " . They all wore a kneckerchief of scarf in the same was with a thing where the two ends went through
