Actually if I remeber correctly he didn't mention that they actually let a microphone down there and recorded noises that sounded like thousamds of tortured souls screaming. However the most horrifying g part to me was, that if you play the whole thing backwards you can hear "talking"... there was a series on the audio streaming service fyo that covered this... really interesting but also deeply horrifying to me

The game does depict the dirty conditions in coal mines, but some of them really cleaned and addressed the perceived grime. I've been down a few coal mines back in the day when the NCB was still a thing. We made gearboxes for coal mines, even had a few in Australia, deepest pit I went down was around 2300 feet. Controlling breathing is a must.

Occupations like Mining are for a rare breed, especially if there is a situation like a gas pocket or partial collapse you have to keep your shit together, both mentally and physically. As a SAR team member who specializes in critical situation rescues I've seen what happens to those who suffer mental breaks, it isn't pretty. They people who survive such incidents, from getting lost/trapped in a cave/mine as well as those trapped by a collapsed structure have a high rate of self deletion after they are rescued.

@@thefoosterchannel One place that would make a truly creepy setting for a horror survival game are the abandoned bunkers on the old Siegfried line from WW1&2. Some of those places go down past the 600 meter mark and are huge with tunnels connecting to other bunkers. Went down one a few years back to do a SAR for Urban explorers/spelunkers who got lost and trapped when the tunnel they went down collapsed and one of them had to climb a vertical shaft almost a hundred meters straight up with no ladder to get a SAT phone signal to get help. It took over 70 SAR team Fire fighters and medics nearly 48 hours to get to them and get them out and they were damn near catatonic by that point, the shit they mumbled would make your blood run cold especially if you heard saw what was down there.

58:00 i love that Fooster is in such a panicked, stressed, and scared state that he fails to connect the dots between the "thing in the center of the room" and what Clarence says. Clarence is the ghost of the previous explorer after the abyss absorbed him. He's clearly referencing the broken/stuck mole in the room and calls it his iron coffin.

Yeah I wonder if the drill malfunction earlier was how the actual Clarence died and that’s why his mole is still out there

My paranoia for holes in earth is very simple: 1. I probably die immediately due to fall damage. 2. If I survive the fall damage, I may still die to it, due to lack of medication. 3. If I don't suffer much of fall damage, I might get seperated and lost due to lack of communication. Such lack can make me die of thirst and hunger, due to lack of resources. These scenarios are way more realistic and scarier for me, and monsters are nowhere closer to them.
