I am glad to hear that the ChaSTE payload in pragyaan rover has found a huge temperature difference in lunar surface (i.e 50 deg Celsius on topsoil to -10 deg Celcius under 8cm depth as shown in the graph). This indicates that temperature gets extremely cold when depth increases. This finding has many benefits. To answer your question @madangowri, In future, if we build a space station in the moon, we can store rocket fuel like liquid hydrogen and liquid nitrogen inside the surface. Because, liquid hydrogen and liquid nitrogen are cryogenic fuel which require -253 deg celcius to store. Since, the rover has found that the temperature decreases when we go deep into surface, so this may be useful to store such fuels. Benefits of storing such fuel in moon is, if we have space station in moon we can go to other planets quicker than from earth. Somehow we need a rocket to travel from moon to other planets, so the fuel stored under can be used for rocket. Another benefit is, we can also store water inside the surface in ice form. so that it may not be evaporated soon and can be used whenever there is a need. This paves a way for human existence in moon. Jai Hind !🌘🌙🌚🌑

I think limited budget is the reason why we achieved Chandrayan 3. Also another interesting fact is that India went to South pole knowing there is potential resources by using Panjanga kanipu..This is according to ISRO scientist Myilsamy Annadurai.. Moon is cooling plant. When sun light directly reflect in moon the surface would be hot 40+. Because no tree, no clouds and no plant is there. The type of sand (cooling sand) keeping cold started from .1 mm.. so depth would be lass temp. If sunlight not there in the surface it would be always less temp like -10...
