One of the compulsory steps to get married in the UK is to give notices of marriage in the local Register Office at least 28 clear days before you are able to tie the knot - and we did it, on 2 December 2020! We have our wedding date confirmed in January to make everything legal. Since Roger took a day off for this purpose, we decided to walk around town and look for wedding rings on the first day of Lockdown 2.0 in the UK ended.

Hey Kiran! Very heartfelt congratulations to you! You finally got your 'yesss' :D It will be 28 clear days with a Fiance Visa holder like us (70 days notice is for visitor visa holder to be referred to the Home Office). And yes, we gave notice to the local council. But if you would like to give notice in other district, there's no requirement for foreigners to live in the district 7 days before giving notice in that district. They have to be in the country only for 7 days in order to give notice. I would suggest you to contact the council that you want to give notice as soon as you arrive to book an appointment! (There's a huge backlog at the moment due to lockdown.) Safe flight to you and take care! :D [I'm so excited for you!]

@@riyabhatt111 Hi Riya. Not sure if the questions asked will be different from other Registry Offices but we were asked about some pretty general information. For example: your partner's name, date of birth, occupation, partner's father's name and occupation, and basic details about yourself. Each of us was asked the same questions separately (I waited outside the room when my partner was questioned, and vice versa). Nothing too scary like an interrogation! :D Hope this put your mind at ease :) Thank you for dropping by our channel!
