Hi Nike, just to let you know your videos are amazing and gives someone like me who lives in Canada insight to a part of this planet which without your efforts I would not be able to experience. So thank you! FYI, most of the other sailing videos I watch are like six months to a year after the fact so for you to stress out over your being in Europe and broadcasting these videos of South and Central America taken some time in the past is totally unnecessary. It however speaks to your integrity and concern for honesty which I admire. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for continuing to share your adventure. Among other things I find your videoettes calming. I've watched them all and today my mind clicked from watching as an arm chair sailor to thinking "maybe I can do this too." I'm sure you've inspired many to untie the lines. Can't wait for episode #48.

Thanks for continuing the videos. It certainly brightens my den as i watch them here in Ohio. My boat is tucked away on the hard for the winter and we have snow a month earlier than usual here, so seeing the tropical settings that you provide is wonderful!!

Hi Nike, I live up in snowy Buffalo NY, where we just had a freak snowstorm, off from work for four days, which was nice. one of my crewman and me were able to get to my sailing vessel, on the hard in Buffalo, covered for winter. It's sure good to see another one of your videos. In fact my cat walked over keyboard 3 times, so I got to watch it 3 times, which was good. I really enjoy your u tubes up here, helps me get thru the winter. looking forward to season 2 regards Patrick

Cool, glad to see the dink sails OK, some sail better than others. Always nice to not have to bother with an outboard or rowing. That place you found to eat reminds me of the place I found to drink in Freetown Sierra Leone, it was a home that just happened to have a refrigerator, enough beer and a smiling face!

Great video! Watching them is like taking a little vacation. I was disturbed by your previous video, not by your admission that you weren't still sailing on Karl at the moment, but by people slamming you for not admitting you were back home. I'm glad you did not pay the $15 fee for Anchorage. Some islanders are so nice where others will try to rip you off pretty much like that all over the world. I love your videos.
@WhiteSpotPirates10 жыл бұрын
Troy Reynolds I do not mind paying for an anchorage in general, if it helps the community and if it comes with some small sort of service for you as a sailor, like you can leave rubbish or sth like that e.g.. It was just that they were being very rude, in my opinion, as they did not even greet us upon arrival but without saying a word pointing to a receipt about 15$ with a grumpy face. It just seemed a bit wrong to us. Maybe we are spoilt by the very friendly Kuna that we had met along the journey so far ;).
@smacksman110 жыл бұрын
We had the same in Fernando de Noronha, off Brazil. First year going south we just anchored and had a friendly time. Next year going north we were grilled by a new port captain and charged mega bucks to anchor in the same place. No extra facilities to warrent the extra fee - just a rip off. For us it was three days sail to the next anchorage so we paid. Still a lovely place and lovely locals. You did the right thing - maybe the message will get through to them?
@Chainsaw_18.9 жыл бұрын
WhiteSpotPirates LOL @ the "Pay Part" I was down that way years ago, they even tried to make us pay for "Taking Pictures" :()
@gschnog10 жыл бұрын
Great video as always :-) I understand your predicament when being asked to pay for anchorage. Sometimes you may not even know if it is a legitimate payment request or someone just trying to take advantage of the situation. It seems that island has been hit by the greed bug. Amazing however that you can have neighboring islands that are untouched by such mentality. The unspoiled parts of the world become hard to find every day. Keep up the fun.

Yet another great video! Awesome work. You are at the forefront of "next generation broadcasting", and a case study for KZbin. However, what are we all going to do when Series 1 ends?! Fridays won't be the same. Imagine if you AND Brian SV DELOS took a break at the same time - trauma! How about you do Series 1.5 - a Vlog from Europe - "Preparing for Cruising - the other side of the story"? OR - what about you use the time in Europe to find other WSP's and make a blog about that? In a sense, Series 1 will have inspired others, maybe your channel could be a distribution channel for other WSP's? Just a thought.
@WhiteSpotPirates10 жыл бұрын
Kameleonline hehe, actually, what you were saying about other WSP is my long term idea about the platform. There just has not been enough time so far to develop it. I have already a couple of things in mind to keep you busy between the seasons, no worries :). Thanks for watching and have a nice weekend!

I know that you are back home, but could you get that wind generator working!!!!Seeing it flop around when it should be working!!! Great Videos!!
@WhiteSpotPirates10 жыл бұрын
ROBERT BOUTERS I know...I was a bit...well...let's say neglecting a couple of projects once I got to the San Blas. It was just so wonderful to cruise around, meet people, snorkle and just sail from place to place. But there is a big list of things that I still need to do. When I am back, I will try to find a good balance between fixing and cruising :). I think after all that time in Shelter Bay I was just a bit too lazy on the refit side, hehe. I think the wind generator needs more weight on the back. It had a flag from metal before and my friend Dimitrios replaced it with a beautiful flag of wood, but I think it is just too light, that's why it does not stay in a good direction...I'll try to figure it out :) Remind me if I don't ;) That's a good thing having you people commenting here, it gives me a good push to get some things done sometimes :) Thanks for watching!

@rorydimov4059 жыл бұрын
Wow, it is a fabulous life/dream you are following! I have similar dreams and intend to pursue them soon hopefully. I just have a question for you. Have you considered getting some fishing equipment so you can catch fish while under sail? A fairly good method for fishing is trolling artificial lures 5-10 knots behind the boat for excellent table fare such as wahoo, mahi mahi (also known as dorado or dolphin fish) or tuna. One good catch could feed you for days at no additional cost. Just a though. Wish you all the best on your journey where ever it takes you.
@WhiteSpotPirates9 жыл бұрын
Hi +Rory Dimov, actually, I do have some equipment on the boat and I trawl when I am sailing and spearfish when I am at anchor :). Caugt some false albacore and sierras whith the trawling, was delicious! Good luck for your dreams, fingers crossed! Ahoy, Nike & Karl

It's your story.... tell it how you want to. It's called "poetic license" and sometimes a bit of license makes for a truly great story. I'm here watch your story as you decide to tell it- I don't care about small details like facts and the perfect truths and real timelines....

I have really enjoyed your videos. What camera do you use?
@WhiteSpotPirates10 жыл бұрын
Clarke McGee Hey Clarke, thanks for watching! I mainly use my GoPro Hero3 white edition. Also, I have a canon camcorder Legria HF G25 which is fantastic but I don't use it enough (but will try to use it more for the next season!!). For a short while, I tried out the Garmin VIRB, but when I took it snorkling, the waterproof case was not so waterproof and that was the end of it... I love the GoPro thought, because it is so small and you can take it anywhere and with the case, it is perfect to be used in this wet and windy environment.

Its all a rip off, you buy things their and they don't understand that. Its greed like much of the islands have become. Some places here in Florida you have to tie to a morring ball for a fee. You can't just be on the hook. The whole world has become greedy and learn how to be greedy from other places doing it. So you have to pick and choose. Plenty of places here in Florida where you don't have to tie to a morring ball just have to know where thoese places are.

I’m really disappointed in you about that $15 bit. These people are quite literally dirt poor. And you begrudge them $15 to visit their paradise. I feel many of these comments congratulating you for “not getting hustled” are either from people who have never experienced moving amongst these types of impoverished communities or people that just wouldn’t care either way. Giving back to a community you visit is about more than buying some chicken and plantains for a meal and a couple fish. Saw you a long time ago through Barry’s channel and just got around to starting your videos from the beginning. I hope this experience was an anomaly because your story is quite intriguing. I’m looking forward to continuing that story.
