Join us as we work to pad our cruising kitty preparing and transporting amazing yachts, including TP52s and Santa Cruz 70's. After visting some family at home we join Team Chico2 (a 1D35 Turbo racing sailboat) to compete in the 2021 Chicago to Mackinac Race on Lake Michigan.
Come sailing around the world with us and learn how to sail as you go! Other sailing channels we like are Uma, Soulianis, Zatara, Nahoa, Delos, and Doodles (without the sexy Instagram models).
We are Sailing Sweet Ruca! We are going around the world via Cape Horn and the Cape of Good hope in our performance cruising monohull, a J Boats J/46. We used to be sailboat racers, but have turned to the cruising life, along with our sailing dog, Roxy.
Who are these crazy people?
We are Kate and Curtis aboard our boat s/v Sweet Ruca. We are kind of like Sailing la Vagabonde, except we have a sailing dog named Roxy instead of a kid, and a monohull instead of a catamaran.

I enjoy watching your videos, especially your mix of racing and cruising. Not many have shown they can still do both, once cruising starts. I especially enjoy your cuts from music back to the most enjoyable natural sounds of water, wind and waves, with an occasional bird. I hope you both stick out the around the Horn and Cape of Good Hope means of circumnavigating the globe. How many other J 46s have made it?

Glad you are enjoying sailing along with us Michael! We appreciate the feedback :-) I know of one J/46 for sure that has completed a circumnav, and possibly one more but not confirmed. So maybe 2? I don't know of any that have been round the Horn. We are hoping countried will open, and still plan on going for it. We have met some awesome sailors along the way that have sailed there and have been super helpful in relaying what they have learned.

Watched the move over the top of Beaver Island live on the tracker. It was a wild move, but it looked like it paid off moving you ahead of a few other boats. Very cool to see the decision making on the boat and an update from you all on it.

Likely not :-( The expenses required to import us back to the Great Lakes from South America for the month are pretty substantial. If somone needs a ringer(s) we we could be convinced though ;-)

@@SailingSweetRuca I just came across your vlog last week. Was surprised to see you raced in the Mac last year. Chico 2 is a well-sailed boat. Might not be that well sailed this year (LOL) Was going to offer to buy you two a real Chicago pizza and a few adult beverages this summer. I don't see too many cruisers in J/Boats, I enjoy watching you say goodbye to other cruisers you pass during passages!
