Zach, your positivity after a miss is something all hunters should strive to copy. Also, I’m so glad to see bow hunting this late in the season. Makes me happy I’m not the only one still living on a prayer 😂

I love that you guys stop the music when it's time to hunt! The hunt is so much more intense without music ... I feel like I'm right there with you, hearing the crunch of every step, straining to hear every sound, my senses on high as I soak up everything. Music is fine, but so many hunting channels and shows think they need to add drama to the kill with music, when the reality is that a person who has hunted will feel so much more locked in when it's presented the way you guys do it. Please don't ever change! :)

It doesn't look like you shot low it looks like you shot high. Maybe he was closer than you anticipated. Or I'm way off??? But I thought I saw your arrow stick into the dirt high. Either way good job. That kind of hunting takes patience and like you said you can't rush it. To just have an opportunity in such wide open country is a success on your part. I'm in Arizona, I know what you mean by It's not rushing it and being patient. Great job nevertheless. Hey Zach was wondering what broadheads you were using? Really love your guys take on fixed blade / COC broadheads and the show as a whole. Was wondering also when you missed that buck if you noticed any break/chip after ? Simply asking because I feel like in my experience when typical and popular bought arrowheads go through deer or, more often for me miss into the woods they always seem to dent a lot and they never fly the same which is why I was wondering how durable those are. Appreciate the help- thanks!

Looks like he moved either from the sound of the bow or the approaching arrow before the arrow ever arrived, which can be the case in longer shots. There is really no way to know if, or how, a deer is going to react when the bow goes off. I have had them stand there like statues, as the arrow went thru them, and others have dropped/rolled away at the sound of the bow, even at close range. Good misses are better than bad hits.

Good on ya for not giving up. I had a similar situation recently on a doe and I was really worried about coyotes eating her alive, or just her slowly bleeding to death on a frigid night. It was weird but I felt more connected to that deer in that final moment, when I found her, than any other kill. I think in her deer-y way, she forgave me. I still feel it though...

Hello THP crew. I’ve been obsessed with your videos as of late and loving every minute of it. I’ve recently come into possession of an older recurve bow and I’m in the process of getting it tuned up for next deer season. I have to recommend to you, if you’ve never looked into it, you really need to look into Southern Illinois for some content. We have a very high deer population, a lot of terrain variety, and a reputation for some really big bucks. Keep up the good work and hopefully we’ll see you here in Little Egypt.

Can't get them all but dang what a disappointment. Still the best content on KZbin as far as my opinion goes watching Zack crawl into these deer.
@ScottWConvid192 жыл бұрын
It's not called Killin, it's huntin. I purposely aim low when they're looking at me or they're alarmed but they don't always drop. My son is new to hunting and in highly pressure public (late season) he had a deer come in hot at 7 yards full draw, he stopped it and it looked right at him and he didn't think to shoot low and it dropped at the release giving him a high hit. The arrow passed through with meat and hair on the arrow and tiny bubbles on the fletching. Looked like maybe one lung and almost no blood to track. We waited for 4 hours to start tracking and tracked it for over an hour until the blood trail was gone. You never know what the deer will do, but they almost always move at the sound of the string. That learning curve can be a butt kicker, but the memories are cherished and they hone the skills. It does seem that that curve takes on a paradox, but it's called hunting. Hunting public makes private land seem like a guided hunt on a deer farm, sometimes. 😂
@christianweister16512 жыл бұрын
I love y’alls videos id love to hunt in public land, but here where im at in West Virginia are public land is destroyed and the deer hunting isn’t very good. Im suprised y’all don’t use bows like bowtech, PSE, hoyt, Matthews, etc.. im just wondering why do yall use bear bows?
@mitchellelmer32372 жыл бұрын
If I recall correctly, when you were in the desert hunting you had wished you had been faster and more aggressive on your stalks because the deer often moved before you got to them. In this video and the last you are talking about how time doesn't matter when you are stalking a deer. Then later in this video you mentioned that you knew you wouldn't have much time to make the stalk work. 😄
