It proves what I have said for years. Much of the world has gotten critical towards anyone who is Muslim. That is because they see radical extremist Muslims waging wars and terror. But the truth is not all Muslims are bad people and ignorant people don't realize that the Quran specifically states they must be forgiving to others. The radical Muslims rule by fear, indoctrinate hatred to the people they rule from a young age and lie to them to make them believe that they must live a life of feudalism. Oman is moderate Muslim state and the people want peace not war. That is why Nate and Kate found them to be extremely nice.

Ramadan fasting is essentially intermittent fasting light - without the scientific name 😃 Dawn to dusk is about 12h, intermittent fasting calls for 16 min. Very healthy. Also it's considered a private matter so a person working in a desert is completely free to have some water, as long as he doesn't make a spectacle out of it. Oh and the clothing he wears (being wrapped in it) actually reduces perspiration/dehydration - little known fact. Plus concentrated tea tricks 😃 Long story. You are hardly ever going to see an Arab in a desert gulping water - and then sweating it out in next 5-15 min like an idiot 😃 Body gets trained not to waste water as long as it's kept in approx constant conditions (wrapping in white cotton). When Ali saw Nate in black and shorts he probably panicked like "this guy is going to die soon" 😃 So, Nate, next time going to a desert just buy some local Arab clothes - head to toe 😃 Yes including the headwear 😃😃😃

As a car tech, even some car tires that come shipped flatter then usual are a PITA to seat. We use something called the cheetah, its a small air compressor and it pushes all its air out into the tire at once and it helps seat the bead, ur doing that while filling up the tire with an air compressor lol. You guys got very lucky that someone came to help. Usually the other thing that works is a ratchet strap around the tire to help it squeeze it towards the rim walls. Something that can work is flammable liquid inside the tire then light it, it sucks all the oxygen out and pops the bead on the tire, its dangerous and doesn't always work. Glad you made it out safe and sound. Tire popping off the bead are a nightmare. P.S. That smell Kara loves, i grew up with, my dad is an Armenian priest and they use that in church :).

It's pretty good lesson about the extra strain partially deflated tires experience. The way I was taught in the army was to deflate tires once you are already stuck and then inflate them back up once you are free, but the training wasn't for sand desert so I don't know if it's applicable.

Also, we used to live in Abu Dhabi and we found that the Omani people we came across were all so nice!! I am glad you found that to be the case. Also, so glad you accepted the dates! If you come across a situation again someday, it is also polite to have small talk and ask how their family is doing. If it wasn't Ramadan, as you mentioned, food and drink would have been offered. Well done you two. Ali was correct, WE are stronger together. ps in the warmest months we used to turn our hot water tanks off that were in the bathroom, which allowed the water to get cold with the AC in the house then used that to mix with the now boiling hot water tank from the rooftop to get a not scalding shower!

I’ve watched a couple of travel vlogs of people traveling in Oman. A more gracious and welcoming place I have never seen. God Bless the people of that country❤️

Ali made me melt when he said, "Welcome Kerra." It's such a beautiful way of pronouncing your name. Angels really do roam the earth, especially in the Middle East.

How much better would our whole planet be if everyone was as selfless and helpful as Ali. ❤❤❤ Thank you, Ali, for your extraordinary kindness and generosity in helping two people in need. Xx

The world definitely needs more people like Ali. I hope that he sees this. Did you know that in Scotland, when people wear kilts, they wear a knife in one of their socks. The knife is called a sgian dubh (ski-an-do). In the UK, cilantro is called coriander.
@Callie834 ай бұрын
I'd be so turned around bc I grow cilantro in the states. If I don't use enough and it bolts, or goes to seed, I'll save them as coriander. If I went to the market and was looking for cilantro and couldn't find it, I wouldn't search for coriander and expect it to look like cilantro. Another reason to make friends in new countries!

@@Callie83 Every day is a school day. It's the same with what yous call egg plants. We call it aubergine.

We call cilantro 'coriander' in Australia too. We also use 'egg plant' for aubergine.

Wonderful video and Kara, I absolutely love the recipes you randomly share in making in your vids! I have made a few of them and they are awesome! Love this series... been waiting for this video!!! One of my favorite videos is the first time they went to Oman and did the desert camp, so super excited to see like a part 2 of that trip.

I also love Nates' accidental foreshadowing of the stuck in the desert part stating they had tons of food and water to last if they were to get stuck.

Ali saved your lives, probably. I went into that area with locals a long time ago. Iirc we took 3 vehicles in case 2 didn't cope with the extreme environment and travelled with helpers in case of misadventures. We drank a lot of water. We stayed in sight of camps (I dont think gps existed much or at all then). We drove in convoy. You were extremely lucky friends. Very poor of the rental company not to supply adequate tools for an off-road experience in an off-road vehicle. I hope you were really, really generous. Ali: new hero. ❤
