Love Focal. Former Elear owner, currently Clear OG and Utopia 2020. The Utopia's are so good, I haven't listened to the Clear's since the Utopia's arrived. I also have the Sopra Center and Sopra No1s are on order. This was such a cool video to show all the care that are put into these pieces of art.

I'd put money on the Utopia Tournaire still having headband creaking noises even at the $120,000 price tag LOL. They just really love cheap plastic internals for their one and only headband. Dupont dry film lube takes care of it.

Always nice to be reminded of how much is done by hand, because of it's complexity to automate. The Sennheiser factory in Germany also does most of the assembly by hand. Really makes you appreciate your headphones a bit more.

Wow Andrew, so happy for you.... You totally deserve it you have given Focal a huge amount of positive exposure which they deserve, so cool man. I know it might be against your mantra but Focal should seriously consider giving you a good deal on a Utopia... Seeing them do so much by hand too was a revelation for me and definitely increased the value of Focal products in my eyes, knowing most aren't made in some other country like China and are just imported ready to snap-in. Seeing the driver being blown on and moving and the explanation about the lightness of the materials also gave me great insight as to why they are so low impedance, where traditionally I would say the dampening inherent with high impedance is better, so now I understand the technology better and why low impedance isn't a limiting factor but actually a requirement due to the manufacturing precision, fascinating. Keep it up man, I am a fan for life and hope the trend of manufacturers and reviewers interacting in these non-review-focused but very transparent ways continues!

Can you ask them, why Focal Elex model fails in so many cases? Almost no single pair without issues exist - either one driver stops working after few months of normal usage (after buying new pair or second-hand, does not matter) or there is obvious channel imbalance between L and R, much louder than 0.5db? Btw, even 0.5db is a lot...8:40

That's what I want to see ans ear in the iems. The driver. The capacitors and resistors for the crossovers and the most important, the box resonance that gives that closed acoustic timbre echo that we ear in focal speakers. Hate when an iem has a driver and a tube that bring the sound to the nozzle , when companies like 64 audio and fir audio bring the chamber like a real speaker to give that hi fidelity sound.
