FYI, the ferries take you to the islands of the inner Oslo fjord. On a working trip back from China I visited a Dutch friend who'd immigrated to Norway, and we took a ferry one day to Hovedoya Island ... very pretty.
4:30 when you talked about what they do when it snows, it reminded me about earlier this winter (January, I think) when people were skiing and snowboarding down the opera house! There should be some videos out there :)

This is the totally wrong time of the year to be in Oslo, but at least you got some sun. (I'm living in Oslo). The snow conditions in the woods are not good, and the streets are not cleaned up after the winter. They will be cleaned before May 17th every year.I liked your video, though. I hope you come back in the middle of the summer (or in August). Then the city shines. The Tiger is because if the city's nick name, the tiger city. The reason is strange, though.

About that tiger: Tigerstaden is a nickname for Oslo, inspired by Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson's poem Last Song (later called Godt Mod) from 1870. It is a name that refers to Oslo as a dangerous and merciless metropolis. In the poem, Bjørnson depicts a battle between a country's horse and the city's tiger. The expression was quickly adopted in newspapers.

@@letterboxfilm No, the origin is unsure. Some say it is from Bjørnson, others say it is from Daae, others say it is unknown.

Oslo looks beautiful. It's almost as if everything is well thought of, designed to look nice and work well. The Norwegians make the rest of the world look like rubbish. I know that Norway is a rich country and that makes things so much easier. The keyword probably is: taxes. Yes people pay high incometax but look what they get in return? Why does the world not learn from this?

That was a Norwegian troll there. :) They are part of ouf folk tales of old. I don't like them though. Glad you guys liked Oslo. Oslo is known as "tigerstaden", meaning the city of the tiger.

All our kiosks have hotdogs like 7/11, Deli Deluca and Narvesen🫠 But not “traditional”. We don’t eat traditional foods here unless a specific cultural event or Xmas. At least compared to other countries as it’s seen as old fashioned and we are very fashionable people🤣🤣🤣 I was the last generation (Millennial) growing up in the 90’s and 2000’s that grew up eating traditional Norwegian foods. Gen Z doesn’t even know what traditional Norwegian food is unless foods eaten at Xmas or on our constitution day… we normally eat international foods like Mexican, Japanese, Korean, Italian, American, Thai, Viet, Indian, Turkish etc. The list goes on. My parents who are in their 70’s they still eat traditional foods.

Why is it that women always complain that things are smaller than they expected, but then admit it's still kinda cool? (I'm referencing the Scream, of course) Edit: and the creature outside the souvenir shop is a Troll. They generally range in size from child-size to skyscraper size, and much like Tolkien mentioned in his famous works they usually turn to stone when exposed to the sun.
