You could have cut the Ytong/Durox blocks to size before you glued them into place, or did I mis something important? The standard operation that bricklayers follow is to give the brick the correct size BEFORE you cement them in place. Your chainsaw would do a great job on these kind of blocks. But you will get there in the end, smart people learn from their mistakes. ;-)

Next time, okay? Don't glue any chips there. Make tougher glue and remodel brick with it, add plastic net into it. Simple. You will be adding few mm of cement glue of some sort anyway.

You guys can still have a regular countertop, you can put two or three potted plants (or one of those long planters) on that lower window sill so the countertop being higher than the window’s bottom would be unnoticeable. It would look like plants are coming out of your countertop☺️

If those blocks are strong enough to go four stories then even though you have lost some strength in the column due to the chipping, they should still be perfectly good for the two stories you planned on. Maybe even three. I would only worry about the strength loss if you go four.

It’s fine, my builder actually realized late that they had to cut down one row of aircrete blocks for the laundry room window so about the same thing happened. The wall just gets rendered in concrete too and they will only have a small bathroom upstairs, it’s not that much weight.

The aircrete blocks are easy to crack so when he put the block back to kick it for the thumbnail the ones next to it cracked. It happens but it’s fine☺️
