As a RN in a Hospital setting taking care of Postpartum Mothers and Babies, the wait time can sometimes be a bit longer since we are so understaffed/Covid. Please just know we are doing our absolute best and it breaks my heart as a nurse to see Mr. Shine so hungry too! So definitely don't think for one second they "made you wait" etc. We're trying so so hard with what staff we have, it breaks my soul to hear how upset you both were about waiting for Shine to be seen. I'm so glad you got him checked out and that he can eat again

Perfectly Said! Lots of time people don't know we're understaffed and think we can handle everything! We cry too! We get upset as well! I don't like hearing babies cry and I get emotional but then know you better hold those tears back! It's been many times I myself would say something to collegues do something because I'm breaking down! People don't know we on there supporting each other and building each other up to get through a day! I just wanted to grab baby Shine and comfort him with some milk but that can't happen! It will get better is my Prayer! Essential Workers stay strong! We got this!♥

Very well said… knowing how many babies have died with RSV it’s good they got him check and it’s nothing major. I know how heartbreaking it is to see your child cry and be so hungry but again so glad they didn’t just walk away.

I’m a mom so I definitely understand. Never apologize for advocating for your child, that’s not complaining. Parenting is literally like having your heart live outside your body, it’s understandable to defend your child’s right to basic needs. You guys handled the situation so well! Be proud of yourselves!!! I love you guys!

I was terrified of hospitals, then my son's appendix ruptured at 2 and my other son had to have major surgery at 3 months and the stress and pain I went through was horrific but as parents we Have to do it. Y'all did amazing, my heart felt this. Hearing our babies cry is the worst. Especially when you can't help. Love yall

Watching this video brings back memories. My son was two days old (still in the hospital) when I found him choking on his reflux. One of the scariest moments in my life. We did gas stuff and medication as well. He grew out of it thanks goodness. Some tips my pediatrician gave me were if bottle feed burp every 2-3oz. Hold baby upright for about 30 minutes after feeding. Also since you’re breast feeding watch your diet. Some babies are lactose intolerant so when you eat certain things it upsets baby’s stomach. You just are doing an amazing job just know that! It gets better guys! 💕

I feel you guys totally...but as a nurse I can tell you that this is unfortunately the only way to do this exam and get accurate results and they have to be NPO for 4 hours sometimes 6 to have a successful test otherwise it would have to happen again...I'm glad he is better and you guys are out of that stressful situation...

As a Hospital employee please know that no patient is being mistreated! There is a lot of other things behind the scene that need to be done before bringing any patient in for procedures! There's a reason for no eating before a test! The patient not only can be harmed but can become worst where complications will occur because directions were ignored! As new parents I understand not knowing and/or being stressed, worried and upset that staff aren't moving as fast as you want. However please understand that it's so important to bring your patience! One false move can cause a whole lot more harm than good! I'm not fussing just want to make awareness of understanding the hospital staff is there to provide care and results! Welcome to parenting! You will have more of these days but understand it's so important to follow hospital directions in order for the right care to be provided. God bless and know that your best is yet to come!

I agree with this but I don't agree with the replies from others. Riss & Quan are first time parents, they are learning however, they are amazing parents and there's nothing wrong with them complaining and stressing! People can't always be happy and atleast they aren't faking, they're showing their true emotions on camera and even though they are complaining, they are just stressed about their baby. Obviously they know hospital staff are doing amazing jobs but in that moment, they were obviously extremely stressed, emotional and probably didn't know how to cope or what to do. There's no need for negativity. Also, if they say their baby is hungry, their baby is hungry, it's their child and they know their child best.

I’m so sorry y’all experienced this but I am so happy y’all shared this because now I know that things like this will happen and most of the time it’s not because of the parents it’s just something that babies go through some times. You have this! You are more than an Conqueror! New parenting get easier! Stay strong! As a Hospital employee know help is there if you feel overwhelmed! Staff is never ignoring the patient! We're preparing, prepping for the procedure that need to be performed! We cry too seeing the parents emotional, overwhelmed and upset! We don't like the fact of having your baby fast before a procedure but even with adults they cry too! We have to make sure no more harm is done because majority of the procedures performed requires no eating until after because it can cause harm to you! Welcome to parenting world! Your Best Is Yet to come! Praying it gets better, praying for healing for your baby and yourself! God Bless♥

I know how stressful it is when your child is going through something. My daughter had to get stiches once and they had to strap her down also. She was 3 at the time. But despite how hurtful it is to see your child like that, you have to try not to let that energy come through...try to comfort him without having him feel your stress and fears. That will help ease him more, rather than him feeling your stressful energy. Im glad he is ok ❤ shower him with cuddles #teamshine #teamrissandquan

I'm so sorry u guys I pray that it's something that will pass and when he gets gas the best thing to do is open up a blanket put him on his stomach his head over one of the corners put his arms on his sides of his body take side of the blanket bring it over his back and under his stomach as tight as you can the other side the same way but that one will be in front wrap him like he's in a straight jacket what happens is the gas that's inside it pushs it out and at the same time he will sleep I had to it to my kids and then you might want to see if the doctor can change the milk that milk may not agree with him

This is something that makes influencers successful. Transparency is absolutely needed. I totally understand the stress and pain you all were dealing with. My daughter used to wake up out of her sleep at 1 year old vomiting mucus. Nothing but mucus. And we know mucus is thick and sticky so it was extremely hard on her to get it out. Took her to the Children’s Hospital and she was diagnosed with acid reflux. She turned 6 on the 12th of this month. My son who’s 1.5 now was in and out of Children’s as well for the same thing. I was tearing up feeling your stress and distress and thinking back on how I felt with my own babies 😔 You two are great parents and remember that baby can feel your energy. Continue to love on him as I know you will 🥰

Let’s talk about how adorable he is!!! Glad you all got to the bottom of things. Since you are nursing, you may have to switch up your diet a bit. Additionally, when he eats, do not lay him down if he falls asleep. Keep him upright at a 90 degree angle for 30 minutes @ minimum to help with the reflex. Hang in there! As a parent & health care worker i understand both sides. As a new parent it’s scary with the unknown, my daughter had gastro issues so I understand the frustration & concern. It’s not fun & hard to see your child in pain. As for the hospital, the healthcare workers are burnt out & tired themselves. Don’t think they are just not doing anything behind the scenes. Work on being patient next time, you’re not the only patients in the hospital. There are lots of factors that play a part. One parent went back because of COVID. Healthcare workers are people & have families too that they have to protect. Be understanding.

My youngest son has Cerebral Palsy and ironically just had a major surgery on Monday, and one of the most bothersome things about hospital experiences are the wait times. I’ve experienced 2 hour wait times before and from a parent standpoint, it’s completely frustrating, makes you wanna cry and be completely emotional, but you almost feel like you can’t bc you have to be strong for your baby in those moments. From one parent to you both, I pray wholeheartedly that you don’t ever have to experience anything like that ever again. It’s ridiculously overwhelming and to be in the unknown as to what’s going on is just as nerve wrecking. So you all will be in my prayers. And even in the years to come, I pray an abundance of peace over you both and that GOOD health shall be his portion! I love y’all! 💙

I totally understand the way you'll feel. As a parent you will go through so many emotions when it comes to your child. Always remember to allow patience because this will not be the first time and trust me when I say the headaches and stress will not help. There will be appointments where you will be scheduled and still sit and wait as if you didn't even have a specific time. I'm so glad Shine is feeling better and the both of you as well. Being parents does not come with instructions, so you'll will continue to learn as you go and just know that you're your child's best advocate. Praying that the results find no acid reflux.🙏🏾🙏🏾

My son started out with the same thing of reflux. After each feeding, I or his dad had to hold him up for 25 minutes before laying him down. This did help for a while, he also was on medication for reflux. So pray fully this helps Shine feels better and continue to pour out all his love to team Riss and team Quan. 🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️❤️

I know you guys are stressed out and especially this your first child. Hospitals are stretched thin right now. I'm glad you all found out what was wrong. Acid reflux hurts in a adult so, I know it hurts in a baby. Having a baby going through medical situations will test your patience. Have him sit up after every meal for a couple of hours so that acid won't come back up. Praying he will grow out of it soon!

I hope he starts to get better, it's always upsetting having to go through seeing what is going on with your babies. I would always want to take my son's pain away and have it on me instead of him. It's so stressful to constantly worry about your baby and praying they don't have to go through anything. I pray your baby gets better 🙏 Shines smiles at the end was precious 💕

I definitely understand what y’all going thru! My daughter went thru the same thing and I was breast feeding and giving her a bottle. Took her to get that same test done came back no issues. Until her doctor changed her milk to Similac Alimentum and since then she had no issues no more. I pray Shine Boy gets to feeling better!!

Yall are definitely new parents 🥺❤ it's okay u feel helpless with any pain or discomfort for your child. We always feel like what our baby problem is bigger than anybody else's. Especially going threw this threw covid is the worse. Things are completely different for parents and hospital appointments, constantly having to clean up and overly sanitize. Things be so hard but it's for the best. You guys just have to breathe threw it and stay as calm as possible. Shine can feel yall stress and it will cause him to fuss and fight ❤❤❤ it will be okay just breathe

My son had severe reflux and a tongue and lip tie. I had to take him to a pediatric dentist where I wasn't allowed in the room and they had to strap him down and do laser removal on his tongue and lip tie. The entire procedure took 3 minutes, but I was balling my eyes out the whole time. When I got him back they explained they he felt nothing and he was perfect and was able to nurse properly after that. You guys are amazing parents for staying on top of everything with your baby. ❤❤ Being a parent is not for the weak of heart.

Same here! Mine was so bad it triggered appendicitis. I would have episodes for months and would have to drink a G.i. cocktail to make the pain all end. And throwing it up relieved so much. I told them to just take my appendix out because i could not bare the pain at all anymore. It felt like my whole stomach was full of acid and someone kicked it as hard as they could. I would much rather get my teeth yanked out 1 by 1 than to ever go through that again. I hope Shine doesn't have to go through this one day :(

You're wonderful parents..I know that feeling of helplessness when you're waiting for your child to be seen when their sick. You both did an amazing job dealing with a stressful situation that was beyond your control. Shine is so bless to have you for his parents. I'm praying that God will heal him from whatever is going on with him. That handsome smile is priceless and it warmed my heart to see him smiling at his parents. Keep doing what you do there's going to be moments where you may feel anxious especially when our children are sick but just know God will strengthen you to go through and be there for him and each other. Love you all and I'm going to keep your names lifted in my prayers 🙏🏾💓

I’m so happy Shine is alright and feeling a lot better! I had a similar experience with my 2 yr old when he was 2 months old. Brought back a lot of difficult memories. But be on the lookout for the projectile vomiting worsening! My baby started the same way with the reflux and upset tummy right before turning 2 months old. We changed his milk like 4 times and nothing helped. Then at 2 and a half months he started projectile vomiting literally every time he ate. And i took him to two specialists and they always tried to convince me that throwing up was normal. Even had him on Omeprazole for a couple weeks. But when he turned 3 months old and was only getting worse i took him to the hospital and demanded an ultrasound of his stomach. The doctor was about to send us home bc he thought i was exaggerating. He did the ultrasound and turned out he had what they call Pyloric Stenosis and they admitted him immediately for surgery the next morning. The reason they were so shocked is bc Pyloric Stenosis tends to happen in younger new borns and my son had already turned 3 months. Crazy thing is I had suggested to his specialist that i thought it could be Pyloric Stenosis and she brushed it off and told me she was sure it wasn’t that. Luckily he’s been a perfectly healthy baby since his surgery. But it was the hardest thing I’ve been through as a mom. Best of wishes to your family and your baby boy Shine, God bless him!! 🥰🥰🥰

I can’t imagine going through that with my baby! My son had bad acid reflux, never had to get him tested for it but dealing with seeing him having reflux was hard enough..probiotic drops, gripe water, and soy formula is what helped my son the best. I hope baby shine is doing better and hope you both are at ease now and the stressful-ness is gone.
