2:24 Eck, technically Brodeur scored on Dan Ellis in 2013. Although it was an own goal on a delayed penalty, Ellis had just left the net but attempted to hurry back to stop it. Since Ellis was on the ice, it counted as a goal against on Ellis’ stats, and therefore Brodeur technically scored on a goalie. However, physically shooting and scoring on a goalie has never happened in the NHL, and probably not in any serious league.

Well they can’t carry the puck past Centre Ice, so it would at the very least be a goal scored from just beyond halfway down the rink, which is also quite rare. It’s statistically highly unlikely that it will ever happen, but if it ever does happen, it will likely only ever be once, and whichever goalie manages to score on another goalie in net, will be forever an NHL legend, and the highlight reels of it will live on long past the span of their life.
@robotba89

Sounds like most of Brodeur's career. Of course he has major help to get another statistic through association. A real goalie goal would be a sinking wobbly hopper that bounces. Watch some "bad goal" compilations. It's definitely possible, but I don't think many NHL goalies want to even bother sailing one at another tendie, out of respect. NHL goalies would not even want to do that to another goalie. Some of them might, but most wouldn't because if the goalie stops it.... I guess you call it an aggressive dump-in snipe that missed the corner?

We almost had a time in the NHL where a goalie scored a goal when the other goalie is in net. It happened in 2013 (February 9th to be exact). The Devils were on the penalty kill against the Penguins. During the penalty kill, Marty Brodeur lost his stick. Travis Zajac took the puck out of the zone, allowing Brodeur to grab his stick. But as Brodeur was getting his stick, Fleury took the puck back in the Devils zone, it hit one post, then it hit Brodeur's skate, it hit the other post, it was moving right where Brodeur was moving (BEHIND HIM BY THE WAY), but it STAYED OUT of the net, and Brodeur made the save. So close, but it also turned out that a Penguin was still in the zone when the puck went in the zone, so even if the goal was scored, it would be disallowed due to offside. But man, was that insane. It would have been interesting to see Fleury get a power play goalie goal against Marty Brodeur (which is funny since only a month later, Brodeur HIMSELF would get a power play goal).

I saw a goalie score in a 2nd Period at a tournament when I was younger. The other goalie was in the net but it was the perfect amount of confusion. one team shot and the puck went off the goalie and went up, WAY up. when the puck finally came down no one moved, everyone thought the puck hit the roof tarping and that the play was dead, here is the thing tho, there was never a whistle. the goalie went to the puck and shot it, the other goalie was skating to the corner where I assume his parents were, by the time everyone noticed he couldnt make it back in time. This was a "house league" tournament and I was 15 or 16 years old, my team played next so we were watching until the end of the 2nd and im glad I got to see in person one of the rarest plays in hockey :)

This makes this the only instance of a goalie scoring on other goalie in the NHL, but only because broduere played the puck and the other team ended up putting it in their own net resulting in a goalie goal with the other tender (technically) in net

No NHL goalie has ever scored against another goalie who was in net, but Brodeur has the only goalie-goal with the other goalie still on the ice. He had just kicked out a rebound that was picked up by Carolina at basically the same moment that a NJ player drew a penalty elsewhere on the ice. With Carolina controlling the puck, the penalty was delayed and so their goalie at the other end headed for the bench to allow the extra attacker. Meanwhile, the Carolina player in possession rebounded a back-pass off the boards that got by everybody and slid all the way down to the other end. The Carolina goalie couldn't get back in time and the puck went straight in the net. Since Brodeur was the last NJ player to touch the puck before the Carolina own-goal, he got the credit - and thus became the only goalie in NHL history to be credited with a goal with the other goalie still on the ice. That's pretty freakin' cool!

I saw a video of a European game a few years ago where a goalie scored on a goalie in the net. On replay, you could see the defenseman barely hit the puck at center while it was in the air. A goalie scoring with a goalie in net has happened before in the NHL…on the stat sheet. One of Martin Brodeur’s 3 goals happened with a goalie on the ice; he was trying to go back & stop it however he wasn’t in time. On the stat sheet, he was on the ice & in goal. Funny enough, Brodeur in his first career start with the St. Louis Blues was going to the bench for an extra attacker when the puck came to him. He played it by shooting it down to Pekka Rinne, who either made the stop & covered it, or just went wide for icing.

2:10, those scenarios you mentioned could lead to a goalie on goalie goal, and I can also imagine a scenario where a goalie goes to stop a cross-ice shot from the other goalie, and the knob of his stick catches on the net, causing him to fumble his stick or stumble, which allows the puck to go between his legs or something. Similar to how Brodeur dropped his stick on a routine stop in the Stanley Cup finals against the Ducks and got an own-goal. Basically, it would have to be due to the other goalie getting hindered by something, or a mental lapse.

I don't know of any goalies scoring on a tended net in ice hockey, but I've seen it in football/soccer, Tim Howard in the English Premier league playing for Everton, I forget who against. That might at least give a blueprint for what you're looking for, as this wasn't a case of a goalie running up the field to join the offense (the soccer equivalent of pulling the goalie; you have limited substitutions so you just have the goalie abandon the goal) but no, he kicked it the full length of the field

@jeremykraenzlein5975
@jeremykraenzlein5975 10 күн бұрын
I didn't think that there was ever any plan for the Red Wings to keep Jonas Gustavsson long term. I thought that we just signed him to be the veteran backup until we were confident that the young Petr Mrazek was ready to be a full-time NHL goalie. On another Red Wings note, I am a bit jealous of these Minnesota fans who got to see their goalie score on live TV, even though it was a road game. The only goalie to score a goal as a Red Wing Is Chris Osgood, who scored a similar goal on the road in Hartford back in the 1995-96 season. That game wasn't televised, as only selected games were on TV back then, so we all found out about it through various after-the-fact media reports, which just isn't as exciting as watching it live. This lead many fans to write letters to UPN-50 and PASS Sports, the Red Wings local broadcasters of the time, demanding that they start broadcasting ALL Red Wings games. The networks got the message, and announced that for the next season one of them would be showing every game not covered by national broadcasts. This was an experiment, they warned, which would be abandoned in future years if we fans didn't keep their ratings up. But both sides have kept up their end of the deal ever since: they kept broadcasting every game and enough of us kept watching consistently. Fox Sports Detroit debuted a year later, buying out PASS Sports' contract to broadcast half of the non-national games, and a few years later they would also buy out UPN-50's rights to broadcast the other half. In both cases, they let it be known that they would honor this deal to keep broadcasting all games so long as the ratings were maintained. I found it appropriate when now-retired goalie Chris Osgood joined their broadcast team years later, considering the history that the goal he scored had lead to such an improvement to how we can watch Red Wings hockey on TV.

Here is what happened last year (or maybe two years ago) in the NHL: The goalie caught a shot from the opposition, and both teams stopped playing. But the referee didn’t blow the whistle since the goalie decided to drop the puck and continue the play. Meanwhile the goalie at the other end thought the play was over so he skated out of his crease, towards the corner, as they often do. A defensemen at the other end saw this and shot the puck the length of the ice and into the net. But if the first goalie had done that, it would have been the first NHL goalie goal with both goalies on the ice. If this ever happens, that’s how it would occur.

I had Jarry in Yahoo Fantasy last year, Gus in ESPN Fantasy this year ... neither allow the commissioner to count goalie goals. WTF?

The most likely scenario for a goalie scoring on another goalie is when one is being pulled, and the other scores before he gets to the bench. While anticlimactic, this would still count as a goal against and I cant find any footage of this ever happening.

Martian Brodeur has scored a goal with the opposition goalkeeper on the ice; via a delayed penalty going back into the Hurricanes net- via Jordan Stall, which last touched The Devils Goalie #30.

When teams put forwards on the blue line on power plays they deserve short handed goals.
