Was it worth the 8 months’ wait ?! What do you of this style of episode (step by step installation)

🎉 Woot on the watermaker! I laughed out loud when Jeff said, “it would be better cold”😂 We are making water around a TDS of 270 so 190 is bueno! We are still too 😅😊 Nice episodes - it’s a rainy day in the San Blas so I’m catching up on some of them

Yeah we’d have to check it again the next time we can make water as Jeff thinks it’s gone up ! It’s a rainy couple days here too, so we’re doing a lot of sitting around too unfortunately. Thanks for tuning in, every little bit helps!!

- Joco Crew so glad that it appears you have the water maker working. - Christin, I know how all Jeff's minds work. Keep an eye on your Jeff now that water is readily available. I would not put it past him on solving the conundrum on how to turn the watermaker into a beer maker. - Well done on getting the water maker up and running.

Hahahha so funny !!! Well, if all our videos did as well as this one is so far, maybe we COULD get a beer brewing machine onboard too 😜😜🍻 Stay tuned tho , because this watermaker saga still isn’t over., even tho it seems all is peachy 😳😳⛵️

Y'all are absolutely amazing! 37 ft boat? The positivity on y'all's faces blows me away. Learning by doin, congratulations y'all.👍🇺🇸❤️

Thanks Christopher we appreciate the feedback! It’s hard to stay positive when you’re in a tough circumstance but we would just go into a dark hole if we weren’t so gotta keep the chins up ! Joco is a HR352 ; 35 foot boat. Even smaller ! Haha

I am happy that you seem to have your watermaker working. You have a lot more patience than me. I would of made it a boat anchor a long time ago. Of course I understand this was a large capital expense, and nobody wants to lose out. I did enjoy the breakdown of the components via step by step.

Hahaa so funny ! This is 100% true but yeah like you said we have so much invested in it - it’s gotta work for us to pay us back a little bit !! But stay tuned … there’s more to the story coming up

Glad you got the watermaker running. Not very efficient though with 30 amps for only 8 gallons per hour. Very noisy as well. My Spectra makes 14 gallons per hour consuming 19 amps @ 12 volts. Almost silent as well.

Initially we chose to go with this watermaker because we could run it solely on our solar . We didn’t want to have to run the engine or purchase and listen to a generator. It was loud because we had it all open for testing/ fixing - when we put the cushions back down overtop and close the door you can barely hear it👌
@mitiempo10009 ай бұрын
@@sailingjoco For a watermaker to be run off solar yours is 3.75 AH per gallon. Spectra starts at 1.5 AH per gallon for the small Ventura 150 and only improves as you go larger. Mine is 1.35 AH per gallon - a true solar powered watermaker. Spectra are very quiet when out in the open as mine is.
@mitiempo10009 ай бұрын
Also a Spectra is self adjusting as far as pressure is concerned. You can go into fresh water is you want and it remains at 800 psi - no adjustment necessary. Also unique among watermakers Spectra can be mounted vertically.
@sailingjoco9 ай бұрын
Theres definitely a lot of pluses for your WM unit ! But we don’t have the budget for a spectra. Neither then or now. We’re just bums on a boat lol

@@sailingjoco That's all I am too. I bought my watermaker used and had it totally rebuilt professionally - all new o-rings etc as well as new membrane and feed pumps. Total price under 6k Cdn. I learned long ago if you buy very good quality equipment and install it properly with good access you should not have many if any issues.

My assumption was that you only make water when you are off shore. 🤔 I’m guessing Jeff is a mechanical engineer?
@sailingjoco9 ай бұрын
We can definitely make water at anchor and most people do. You just have to pick which anchorages you’d want to do that in. Some anchorages are small and in ‘lagoons’ and the water is super rich with “nutrients”🤢 so we wouldn’t make water on anchor in those places! But mostly it’s fine 👌 Jeff has a background in marine aquariums so plumbing etc comes pretty easy to him. He’s also dubbed (lovingly of course) as Manual Man 😜

That seem like that's the only thing sailing couples do.

Get their watermakers to work ? Yeah we have heard from so many cruisers along the way there’s always problems with their watermakers even when they’re new !
