Good thing you're there in the dry season... 😉 If you end up removing the teak seating in the cockpit, you could replace it with some Flexiteek or other faux teak planking that you glue down rather than screw down and it will look amazing!
@sailingjoco3 ай бұрын
Thank you for the suggestion! We def need to tear it out and replace it too. Omg what a huge job this is turning into! But the teak in the cockpit is cracking and breaking past repair so it’s time to do something about it. We’re even toying with the idea of slabs of nice plywood and staining it, sealing it etc for the seating? We’ve seen a few other HR’s do that and it’s something we can do ourselves too! About the floor tho hmmmmm
@kbbarton13 ай бұрын
@@sailingjoco Well, one good thing about faux teak planking besides it looking like real teak but not needing any of the teak maintenance is that is also grippy like teak (or maybe better even). If you put down plywood and say varnish it, it will look amazing but will be slippy like ice when wet... no bueno.

This is a really good point that we never thought of before. Dang it now we have to do more research! Hahhaa :)

@@sailingjoco There's a Practical Sailor article where they do a long term test of different kinds of non-skid. The one that was the best overall was either Flexiteek or Plastiteek or something like that.

Hey Kevin , 💪💪 good luck to you! Where in the world are you getting the work done? It’s a huge undertaking for sure, but you’ll get there! Are you replacing with teak or nonskid?
@lenamaysail2 ай бұрын
@sailingjoco I'm going with with non-skid, the teak is just too damn hot. I'm in Malaysia after sailing here from Oregon. I'm looking forward to the rest of your teak deck odyssey. Cheers.
@sailingjoco2 ай бұрын
Malaysia ! Love it! It’s a goal to sail Joco to Southeast Asia, we really enjoy the countries, people and food over there👌 I’m sure you’d be able to find some reasonably priced workers to help you out!

Hey guys! Always watching. Proud of you for the deck job. I still need to replace my cockpit teak. I noticed your pressure cooker. It's very similar to mine. Where did you get it?
@sailingjoco3 ай бұрын
HEY KEN! We were just thinking about you! Such a huge job hey? Lol How are you doing? We also have to replace the cockpit teak , not entirely sure how we’ll go about that . Send Jeff a msg with your plans! We got our pressure cooker in Martinique, it’s a French made one, Seb is the brand I believe. You inspired us to get one ! I love using it

Cool video, thanks for keeping me sane today. I've been digging for bodies using an excavator in Western North Carolina. I work during the day at Lowe's, and part of the night driving around river beds pulling people out. Aghhh...anyway the video sure lifted my spirits

Ok; add this question to the many that have asked, "how many leaks must there be in the house"? Uncommonly brave it was, to take this job on in the first place. But to do it without cover, was extra ambitious. Perhaps I just missed it, but what do you plan to replace the teak with? Please...not teak. Channel support comment complete🤐
@sailingjoco2 ай бұрын
Hahah hey and thanks for the comment! You might want to have a look at our q&a video we did recently which may answer a lot of your questions! But in short - we are going to kiwi grip :) replacing with teak is way out of our budget - like massively lol. Thanks for following along!

Curious... Are you charging your DeWalt batteries by an ac charger plugged into an inverter or a 12V DC cigarette lighter plug battery charger?

AC power plugged in to the boat which we run with a Victron inverter yup ! We recently learned that you can buy a knock off 12V dewalt charger too 👌

Not sure why you would want to tell someone to F...off If anyone was to complain about power tools at a quiet anchorage.

It was a joke silly ! You actually think we’d do that? No way
@danknox99863 ай бұрын
I think they were joking. That you be very much out of character. That being said the quiet anchoring boats can sometimes overdo it. Maybe not the problem the noisy boats present but they can also be a pain.
