Melissa sorry about the bad news. I called Saturday to check on my dump trailer I ordered two months ago. They Told me that I would be lucky to recieve it within the next couple of months. Mike as I stated before I work in the pool industry. Fiberglass pools are readily available in our market. I have a few buddies who exclusively sell fiberglass pools. One thing we are having trouble with is our filtering, automation, cleaning equipment. We’ve actually had to change our SOP’s because of the shortage of equipment. When we sign a contract, regardless of where they fall in our install schedule, we start securing equipment to ensure we have it. Many others in our industry have not adjusted their ways and have massive delays in completing projects because they haven’t adjusted to ensure they have their equipment. The equipment is usually one of the last things we do, now they are the first things we get. We’ve been lucky so far. The other major road block is chemicals to treat pools. They’ve been giving us “excuses” as to why prices have triple and can’t produce. All due to COVID-19. Good luck with your swimming pool project!

My oldest grandson who is now 23, used to help his grandfather out like that when he was that old and I swear this boy has got the best work ethic. At his age of 23 owns his own house and is a go getter. So proud and his my husband was still alive he’d be proud as he was the one who instilled that in him.

friend of ours installs pools - same situation, delays. If you don't want a fall install (which has advantages) you are likely a spring of 2022 install. I'd go with the fall install if you can get it - installers would prefer fall versus early spring given the more frozen nature of the ground - although I forgot you are digging the hole...not them...still easier digging in the fall.

We ordered 2 pillows 2 months ago and received an e-mail about the shortage of oil byproducts from the freeze in Feb. damaging refinery's. The foam is made from urethane. A whole host of other products we buy and use daily may be effected too.

Couple things... 1) Where I live, we collect rainwater in our cisterns. It surely would be beneficial for you and would be a great source of water for topping off the pool. Buying potable water is cheap but the trucking is expensive. For a rainwater system you should put in a little purification plant. Not a big deal. 2) Why not build a cast in place concrete pool? Have a day!

Mike & Melissa -- Perfect solution for your problem. Put a retaining wall on the two sides of the cistern facing the driveways. You will only need one tenth of the fill dirt, and the driveways will need zero grading. Art & Melissa

I heard over the weekend that Advantech Flooring material is at a stand still also due to no resin to make it with. The guy at Lowes I heard this from said they tentatively have some scheduled for delivery in July at the earliest. He said their main warehouse is now empty!!

Melissa and Mike, sad to see the pool delayed indefinitely. But , as the old saying goes, good things.come in time ! Have a question. Are you going.to do some type of filtration system on the cistern to keep the water from "skunking up" as we call it down here. I know several people that have cisterns that would get 3500 gallons of potable water delivered and it would go bad in a matter of 2-3 weeks to the point that it stunk so bad it was not usable. You could smell it 10 feet away from the vent.

Hey Mike you know you was talking about the pool going is is set back. We’re I live there is a boat manufacture call Tracker Marine that is owned by bass pro. And I used to work out there in security and they’re still going hot matter fact they just opened up the other plant to get more boats out because they’ve got a big one that they build out there. They build this boat out there at Tracker Marine and it’s 35 foot long they had to add two more winches to be able to lift it up so they can get it on a trailer. Sorry to hear about the delay's. Living in Texas the freeze was devastating for many of us. We just don't see it here. So many of my neighbors had broken pipes and water damage. We don't build for single digit weather. Our houses are built with 2x4 walls, with R-13 in them, and that was no match with temps in the 0's and teen's with no power. Plumbers were in high demand. From an industrial perspective the refineries, processing plants, and power industry are just now recovering. Grocery stores took weeks to get restocked.

Roger, I think all the North Texas Bluebirds froze to death in that hard weather we had. I have heard from more than one acquaintance that they found them on the ground under their shrubs after the harsh weather. I had three that took shelter in my Bluebird box that froze. I’m in Pilot Point.
