Melissa! I can't tell you how beautiful it is to hear you speak so lovingly and proudly of Mike and his work ethic and dedication to the family and all of the projects. My wife and I have been married almost 30 years, and so many of our friends complain about each other as spouses and what each one is not doing well, etc. Everyday, we talk about how grateful we are for each other and, even though we are very different people, what we each bring to our relationship makes it so special. God bless you both! 🙏🙏🙏

We had some heavy snow a few days ago and it has been chilly this week. Here in Colorado Springs. Melissa's commentary was fantastic! Informative and entertaining. She expressed the fear and awe of watching machinery operation in action. Yeah, I've seen a few moves, by operators, that have made my heart skip a beat! They were in complete control and new what they were doing, not showing off. On the "awe" side of the statement: I've seen operators perform ballerina moves... or traverse an area covered with obstacles, ditches, and hazards...faster than a cat! I called one guy a "Backhoe Dancer". That sobriquet stuck and inspired a competition between 3 operators. One softened ego chortled, "I can dig!" It was all good. Great episode.

Felt great to hear you say you're never late! OMG, my ex was just the opposite. She told her friend that it made her feel important to have people waiting on her. The only job she ever kept for any length if time was waitressing, because they got around her being late all the time. I'm just like you, much better to be early than late! Almost 35 years at Corning, I clocked in late one time...one minute late. My car broke down on interstate. I always took breakfast with me and a book and i ate breakfast and read for an hour, then I'd go clock in. Perfect! I honestly never considered the machine too close to hole, I know you! Yes, I loved y'alls stories about Hunter, made me tear up. Great video today, awesome!👍🚜❤

Heck yes I'm proud of it! 9 1/2 years on a brick crew for large construction company, labor came and went every week. Some guys couldn't even operate a shovel correctly. Who cares if you were late...late you lost a days wage or drove your own vehicle to next state where job was! Got married, started having kids, quit slack job, applied to largest highest paying company in the area, got hired, $25 hourly to operate big lift loading cables onto flatbeds. Thousands of people's applications stacked up just waiting for some slacker to lose his great job for coming in late or laying out! Not me buddy. I did my time and at 62 I retired with huge pension and retirement monies STILL growing! Yes, I sit at home watching Mike Morgan and many others in my paid off house w my paid off car and motorcycle out front, checks coming direct deposit to bank every month...hell yes I'm proud of what I accomplished and the joy of a free, carefree life I live now. Yessir!

You need to pick the Dandelions with skinny pointed leaves, they make the best greens. My Mom used to make a combination of Turnip, Mustard and Polkweed (Polk Salad). It was the best greens I have ever eaten! She always had Cornbread and Soup Beans with every Dinner. Cornbread with NO Sugar, that is Johnny Cake. Soup Beans are Pinto beans, always with salt pork or smoked ham hocks in for more flavor. My Son’s Mentor’s wife told him, Honey, don’t you know that was what the Civil War was fought over, whether to put sugar in your Cornbread or not? Southeast Kentucky no sugar!

Good morning all! I’m sitting inside the metal building we call the Phoenix Farmhouse (because it arose from the ashes of my family home), and I have a signal! I found a cell signal booster to bring the weak signal from outside to the inside. Prior visits I could get 1-2 bars if the phone was against a window but the ‘no service’ message even a few inches away. It isn’t installed permanently yet but even just set temporarily I can see it works. I like sitting in the overstuffed chair watching OWTM! Or looking at the flock of 7 turkeys about 300 yards to the south across the field. They had what I think is our bachelor herd of 4 deer sharing an acre or so in the middle of the field east of the house last night. I got Dad’s old (1970’s) vintage Homelite XL12 fixed yesterday. The bar had been pinched enough the new chain would catch in the slot. Big screwdriver, hammer, a little brute force, and that new chain runs around that bar so nice now. Even moves with the throttle on idle. I’m about to run get some .22 ammo, and then borrow a trailer to haul a gate and some fencing back from the MFA co-op. Y’all have a day as great as mine!

@@waynesellars4064 the one I got was a Surecall Fusion4Home with a Yagi external and an omni internal antenna. I think I might have 3 bars at the antenna, so that’s about max for inside. There is a tower only about 2-3 miles away but there are trees in the line of sight. Once I experiment with pointing the Yagi and positioning the internal, I hope to have more 3 and less 1 bar inside. Right now 2 bars is the most common. A guy at Waveform advised me on device and configuration. His was good advice. If you buy it through them, there’s tech help included. I’d have to say it is working as advertised.

@bluegrallis

That tank is deep enough it will NEVER freeze. Ground temp below 3 feet is 55 degrees F and heat rises up from below, warming anything above the frost line. There are cattle and hog waterers all over the midwest with no heat, and they never freeze, because they are installed with a"culvert" pipe around the water line, going down below frost level. The warmth below frost line, rises up, keeping the water from freezing in the tank above ground.

The question: are you going to catch/collect rain water often comes up with Cistern planning. I worked in the bulk water business, filling these tanks with municipal sourced water. We never said 'rain' water, we called it what it is, ROOF Water. Rain picks up air pollution as it falls and washes everything that was on the roof into the tank. Dust, agricultural spray, fecal matter from birds (I had a customer with local Canada Geese regularly on her roof). When you collect roof water, you need an overflow- you end up with frogs and rodents in there, and that's where they die. Folks say "but we don't drink it" - "brush your teeth with it?" - "yeah" - "You're drinkin' it" . One customer forgot to disconnect the downspouts before he had a new asphalt roof put on. All the free oils scummed up the walls of the tank. Real expensive to clean.

You do really nice work! You take your time and do it right the first time. Love watching you guys. Maybe a helpful tip for you in years to come. Draw a map with measurements,of where all the drain/water lines and tank are buried in respect to the building and keep it somewhere near the panel box or control room of the building. That way in years to come when the memory fades. You’ll know right where to dig if something happens. Maybe you already did so.

Okay, before I became hyperallergic, I was a Beekeeper. There will always be enough Dandelion for the bees 🐝 In Michigan the most important bloom for Bees is the Fall Goldenrod bloom, they build up their nectar stores just before Winter to make it through. I have too many Black Locust trees around my house, in the Spring when they bloom the sweet aroma of their flowers is wonderful. It supposedly makes the clearest, most flavorful honey, that will not granulate. I Love Bees, it is in the words of Hank Jr, a family tradition!

I kept Chickens for years too because I loved them. The are both very expensive habits. Don’t ever go into Bees or Chickens thinking you are going to make money. Unless you are big time you can’t compete. I Winter in Texas now but my home is in Gregory about 40 minutes away from where you grew up. I was fortunate to have a great Mentor about Beekeeping. Mike, you've probably touched on it in other videos, but you mentioned in this and the last video quickly on why you need to install the tank (wells have limited water??), and would be great on why exactly you're having to install that. Being from Wisconsin we would just dig a new well (deeper usually) if we had water problems. For us cisterns were in all the old farmhouses years and years ago and caught all the rainwater that came down the gutters/downspouts. Most actually were in the basements. Don't think they're used much anymore. Great video as always!!!!

Mike if you run a line from your new tank to the house, use one way valves and a pump. You could get supplemental water that way. If you put a pressure reducer it could automatically supplement the well water when needed. And on City water locally its 62.00 a month. Half of that cost sewer bill. Even if you just used to water your garden, they charge you sewer rates.

Mike, you made the right decision on the water tank choice. Relying on city water leaves you a prisoner to their rates forever.

Great job Morgan's on your life, your family, your morals, and on your work ethic! I have been a fan of your you tube videos for several months now, and I look forward to each new one as they are produced! Additionally I enjoy Melissa's "Morgan's off the leash" videos as well, but I only commit enough time daily to watch Mike's videos as they are so entertaining as well as instructive. I marvel at your talent and your energy as well as being able to tell us all what you are doing while you are working on your projects! Congratulations to Hannah on her upcoming nuptials and best of luck to her and her new husband! You guys have done a wonderful job raising your family through many of the normal trials and tribulations that the rest of us experience, but with added grace in dealing with the Autism that Hunter has. God bless your family always! You both are an inspiration to all of us out here in you tube land!

Ya done good old man! The ole' Mare is really holding up well! It usually doesn't work out like that for us guys, so I waited and married one 15 years younger. Which put me 15 years behind in free child labor! LOLOLOL

Im so jealous of the material you get to work with. If I dug a hole like that it would be 50% clay and 50% giant rocks! haha

Mike I know you have probably looked into using a cycle sensor pump monitor on your low producing water well. We live in Western Alberta and there are quite a few of those wells around here. I am lucky and have a 65' well that produces 10 GPM. A few of the people who have the low producing wells, less than 1 GPM, have installed large cisterns that they fill from the well. What they do is use a restricting valve to limit the output of the well pump to less than 1 GPM and install a pump sensor to protect the pump. They then run the household with a submersible pump in the cistern. Even at ½ GPM that gives you 720 gallons of production per day and once the cistern is full, the well pump would only be filling the top 1/4 of the tank or however you have the float set so it would not be running all the time. I would think that some of the well drilling contractors in your area have done systems such as this. Here are some links to the cycle pump sensor: cyclestopvalves.com/pages/cycle-sensor-pump-monitor-general-information franklinwater.com/products/drives-protection/residentiallight-commercial/pumptec-family/ store.waterpumpsupply.com/pumptec.html

It looks nice and level from this other view. :) I agree on the benefits of the concrete cistern. You are one busy guy. I wish I had half your drive. Nice job. :)
