Loveddd watching Mal giggle as Stephen witnessed the utter chaos of her show she watched years ago :')

Pushing Daisies is fantastic, seconded.

I loved The Pretender back when it was airing but I never caught the end. Good to know that the unanswered questions remain unanswered, lol.

When I was a teen watching this show, all I could think of when Jarod got confessions out of people would be that they were under duress and would never hold up in court. Like, literally threatening to kill people unless they confessed. Also, Miss Parker was played by Miss Parker.

Pushing Daisies is definitely a fun show and one I remember liking a lot. Really unfortunate that it had to be cut short due to the writers strike at the time.

I'm not gonna lie. I'd love to see both your reactions to ALF. It only has 4 seasons and a movie and is such beautiful mid 80s cheese

A show that starts relatively simple but progressively gets wilder and wilder across the seasons, and part of the fun is seeing how insane it can get? ...So you're saying Mal needs to get into Kingdom Hearts!

Or the Captain Falcon anime!

Yes, I know TNT. Not because I've watched any of their shows, but because in the 2021-2022 NHL season they took over broadcasting select nationally broadcast NHL regular season and playoff games (sharing that duty with ESPN). They are also going to broadcast some races in the middle portion of the upcoming NASCAR season as well.

Honestly, hearing about a show setting up and then never answering questions really made me think of the Matt Smith era of Doctor Who. Each new season sets up 3 questions and answers, if we're lucky, 1 question. BBC Sherlock also suffered a similar problem where they tried to create more and more mystery but without answering anything and at some point you just stop caring,

I’m not sure if you have watched it yet, but if not I would highly suggest you watch Cowboy Bebop. Another show I would recommend if you want an anime to watch is Yu Yu Hakusho… though that’s definitely more violent in certain episodes, so keep that in mind if you pick it. There are also plenty of other non animated shows I can recommend, so feel free to ask if you’re interested.

I never saw season two of the invisible man but I did see the first season which was kinda neat I liked it a lot. Never saw the pretender. It sounds interesting.

My parents liked this show too and I was even named after the main character but just spelled a little different.

I have a couple shows I'd like you to check out some day. The first one is Twisted Metal on Peacock. Only 10 episodes so far, but hopefully it gets renewed for season 2. The other is an old Sci-Fi network show called Warehouse 13. I feel like there are some structural similarities to The Pretender but from what I remember, they actually tended to resolve the plot points they laid out. Makes it easier to watch like 5 seasons of a show.

I remember watching that story when it was actually airing... I think it's more than time for a rewatch. At times it felt like a fever dream though.

Maybe it's just the era that the show was made, but the storytelling Stephen describes is exactly like Alias that was airing around the same time.

I remember being glued to watching the Pretender but being too young to actually understand it, since it was on TV when I was like... five? Maybe I'll have to rewatch it now that I've got cognitive thinking skills!

I am glad that you both found enjoyment in the show it does not sound like a show for me. The fact they never answered anything just sounds like the writers are stringing the audience along the entire time which I hate.

for some reason i thought the pretender was like a buddy cop kinda show/movie?? like a guy pretending to be a cop. i might've confused the plot of one episode for the whole thing, or, i confused another show/movie yall watched with the pretender. anyways, speaking of old shows, my friend's internet went out for christmas (ISP thought installing fiber on christmas eve was a smart and achievable idea), but it did mean i got to watch the first 6 episodes of buffy the vampire slayer and i'm a little bit hooked. i dont enjoy "whedomisms" as they're called in a lot of modern blockbusters, or that style of writing that's been memed into the group, but for buff it just kinda works. I think it's because the show doesnt take itself super seriously. the monster of the week format is enjoyable too. it's just plain good fun and i wanna see more

Any chance I get to recommend it: Infinity Train. Might have some issue finding it, though, since it was one of the shows that got scrubbed from streaming and reruns because... money reasons?? But even the creator urges people to find it via... *cough cough* methods.
