Alright Bill and specifically Jordan.. I want your input on a matter i wonder about . I personally do not use cameras, I am traditional old school. But I still have a question and input??? I love journalism!! My question is out of all the photos you guys get actually total . How many deer do you get on camera.. I believe it could be hundreds in which that itself is a great population. What I m getting at is .I hunt public how do I tell what the heard is like if I dont put up cameras ...point thus the DNR SHOULD put up 3 public trail cams to attack people online for more sales for hunting .wildlife ... ? Wife went to Penn State and my Son is currently there. Its hard to win a White-out game at Happy Valley, sorry for your loss Jordan. I was there and it was the second highest attendance ever, despite the all day and night rain.

We were at the Iowa-Penn State game in 2021 when they were both rated top five. We were in the endzone where the backup quarterback had so much trouble. It was deafening. I was screaming as loud as I could with my hands cupped to my mouth like a megaphone and I couldn't hear it! You literally couldn't scream loud enough to have someone next to you hear it. I was hoarse for a week after that. That was really something. Good luck this season. I do like Penn State, so I can honestly cheer for you now that you have beaten Iowa.

George, there wasn't much online to go off. Guys say they have no problem getting them to stratify in the fridge during the winter so I figure nature can do that too. I see tons of young apple trees here on the farm growing wild, so if nature can do it, I should be able to help it along. I cut them in half to better expose the seeds and to keep from putting too many seeds into one hole. It will be interesting to see if this works. If it does, I will do it on a larger scale. It's the sclsu mud Dawgs. I wonder if they still got that water boy 🤣🤣 I finally got some cameras on my lease and this 6.5 year old 8 pointer is morning and evening day light. He's real big like that buck the big 7 you hunted. Should have a Crack at him this year as his core area is down to about 60 acres dramatically smaller then last year and in the daylight way more.I learned this from you years ago about how they start to shrink areas down the older they get. Like double g4.

Yes, Adam Sandler should have won an Oscar for that role. It is interesting to see how much easier they get to kill once they get old. The hardest part of killing an old buck is finding an old buck to hunt! Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

David, I am almost 100% sure he is 4 years old. We saw him from the Scrape Tree (he came right under it) last year and he sure looked 3 years old then. If Jordan doesn't get him, I am going to let him go. He probably has more upside. What a beast of a body though. Dang, at age six he would look like a Hereford bull coming through the woods. They have to stay in the pole building. I thought about putting in underground wire fence (I bought it and everything) but it is sure nice when they can run with us when we go on rides on the farm so I decided against the fence at least for now. They have that fence in the backyard back home and it works really well. Good luck.

Nash, they are an experiment this year. I just planted them right into the outside rows of sorghum. If that works - if the deer actually go for them - I am going to do this more and more. I bet the deer here have no idea what to do with a pumpkin so I may have to open them up and give them a head start. I will report back later in the fall on how the deer react to them. People say they work awesome - that deer love them. So, I am giving it a try. Have a great day.

That is rough. They just don't keep them in inventory so they have to build them to order. We toured the Hoyt plant. It is impressive, but that is how they make pretty much everything except the most popular sizes and models which they do hold in inventory.

you guys should considered planting apple trees, but not like that though… it’s best you just take the seed out and peel the covering of the apple seed with a knife on the pointy part of the seed… once you peeled out the cover of the seed then soaked a paper towel and put those seeds in it for 5-10 day… once the seed sprouts roots you should pot it…this is the best way to and seed

No doubt, but if this works - even a little - we can quickly cover the farm this way. There are tons of wild apple trees on the farm and they are getting started somehow. If we can just help nature along a bit, that would be great. I will probably plant some true cultivated apples like the Liberty or Enterprise, just for our own consumption. But I will plant them from seedlings.

All are good options. We just have tons of wild apple trees on the farm so it was an easy experiment to see if we can grow apple trees from wild seed just by digging a hole and dropping them in. I do have a plan to plant some chestnuts soon and did plant 100 wild plums last spring and plan to plant another 100 this coming spring. I am not sure about persimmons. I need to find out if they will do well in this climate. Have a great day.
