scott nagle there are DIY videos on KZbin on how to change the fluid on the ZF8 transmission and you should change the fluid depending on your driving habits. I change mine every 30k because I do take mines to the track.

The way you did it with keeping the base of the shifter and just using the top part of the F80 shifter works, but you need to either bypass the unlock button or add it as in external button somewhere. Your car froze because the unlock button is absent. Also the chime will stop too if you bypass or add the unlock button. Regarding park is a bit more involved but i can think of 2 options, i have not tried it because i do not have a F80 shifter yet, but if i am not mistaking you could probably tap in the e-break wire or another method will be to add a momentary switch underneath the e-break lever and when the e-break is pulled it presses that switch and engages park.

Idk if anyone is looking to do this, but in the head unit, there is a DCT coding option, you’ll need to activate that, if anyone is looking to do this, and wants to experiment, I’ll be down to help on the coding side if you wish to do this change (I’m not 100% sure if that changes and does it completely

Missing the P button is a no for me. I'm also not a fan of the DCT shifter to be honest. I like the shape of the standard sport transmission shifter a lot more.

7DCT has no manual park switch while the 8AT has conventional switches and controls. What could go wrong?

Hey Bryan, can you make another spectacular self-training video on how to inspect and maybe also replace a fanbelt and tensioner on the F30? I got a F30 320d at over 125000 miles that still drives like a dream but recently, whenever it's cold outside I hear a faint squealing from the fanbelt but don't get any error codes on iDrive. 'Bella' stands outside in the cold at night and has been so reliable to me that I wanna work on her to keep her in top shape. Thanks again for teaching all of us Kies'es on how to be Beemer machanics.

There is an “UNLOCK” button that has to be pressed on the ZF Automatic transmissions, how would that be adapted / eliminated / integrated into a DCT Shifter ? Is that the reason for the failure faced by Kies Motorsport with the video ?

I was researching for a month ago about this mod and I find out that the only issue was the warning that it generate. I think that if you don’t care about the warning message you can install it without any other issues I tested it for 2 weeks but then I removed it again because the warning was really annoying

you have to do it in expert mode but i remember this setting using esys. i believe there is a coding cheat sheet available in the forums you can use.

It would, but you would need to install paddle shifters on your F80 as well, otherwise the DCT wont work right.

This has always scared me right from the e92 days, you can essentially throw the car into reverse whilst travelling at speed.... If someone lent on it, or a child hit it, bye bye gearbox lol

Actually no. This isn’t a mechanical connection, and the TCU won’t let you engag3 park or reverse when at speed. I know cause I’ve down shifted min3 several times then realized it was still in D, not over in MS

Worst possible spot haha. Has anyone seen wiper and turn module randomly not working? When every it gets misty or rainy or cold my wipers go on full speed and my my wiper and turn signal sticks don't work. After turning the car off for 5 min and restarting it still happens but if i do that scenario where i wait and pull the wipers to put fluid on the windshield it seems to reset back to normal. I'm thinking FEM problem but I'm really sure.

Looked into this option, depends if you have and xDrive or not. Seems like it’s impossible to combine a DCT tranny with the AWD, as the transfer case was made only for the 8-speed AT tranny. Having said that… the X5M/X6M combine the DCT shifter with the 8sp AT - which is now the combination I am investigating for my F31 touring.
