i feel like programming the sequence in a small logic computer and just have "hit" or "miss" buttons for the button pusher is probably a good idea. hit triggers the next clay and the miss stops sequence and gives a point to the winner. cool concept. hope to see it grow

American shooter here... ESPN used to have a clay target competition that resembled that...was fun to watch...doubles usually reloaded (fully) after the clay was broken... semi-auto's were limited to 3 shot capacity, keep topping off the magazine at every opportunity, if ya run dry,toss one in the chamber & take your time... great game... even non-shooters would enjoy the spectacle....

When there is a bunch of us we play a game we call “Elimination”. Group lines up and the 1st one yells pull and gets 1 shot at the clay. Breaks it 2nd one gets to call pull on a throwing of dealers choice (button pusher). If the 1st one misses, 2nd gets the attempt and on down. If no breaks it goes to the 2nd to yell pull. If the clay makes it to the 4th then 1,2,3 shooters are eliminated. It goes quick and fast reloading is important because the one up does not have to wait for the line to be ready to yell pull. Try it out sometime.

The only time I've ever seen televised Clay Shooting (other than Olympics and Commonwealth Games) was a TV show called Starshot back in the Eighties. I remember Jackie Steward being a driving force behind it and it starred plenty of other Celebrity faces shooting clay targets against the backdrop of a massive metal frame in the shape of a dartboard. I seem to remember them using white clays and shooting at night under floodlights. Always looked like great fun to me.

we used to do this at the end of the day when the field is closing and we over payed for clays so we just have to rapid fire through the rest. Literally had one guy press the button as fast as it would go and try to hit as many as possible going down the line. lots of fun! Great video :)

Reminds me of the "batteuse espagnol " we shoot here occasionally in france (three simultaneous clays and two shooter team 30 clays in total launching virtually non stop) perhaps known as a two man flush in the uk? it is an absolute hoot! A good tip for the reload is have a baggy skeet jacket pocket and place your cartridges in the pocket as many as possible vertically with the primers upwards when you reach in you can grab two easily at the same moment and they are ready to chamber straight away. With practice you an get pretty quick at it and not miss due to late loading at least..... This new discipline/game you have invented looks even better should catch on I hope, I'll certainly suggest it at our club.

Local trap and skeet club did some fun once. Stand on top of trap house with no elevation on thrower,,clays came out just a foot or so off the ground. Only about a half second to hit before it grounded itself. On skeet start at station 8 low house normal spot and get closer with every bird, ducking pieces of hit birds as you got too close for safety. That was a fun day.

You fancy Britts with your expensive over/under shotguns need some less expensive/fancy semi autos or even pump shotguns to let you top up. Another variation is to have a team of 2-5 and throw 25 birds 1 or 2 at a time randomly (easy shots like these). Score is how many hit the ground unbroken. Team with low score wins. We do this in US with church outings and such as poorer new shooters can play and be helped by 1 or 2 good shooters per team. Good for beginners.

@JHruby
@JHruby Жыл бұрын
The other advantage of a semi-auto for this game is that you can be thumbing cartridges into the magazine without stopping and dropping the barrel to open the action. Semi autos are perfect for this game except, of course, for the inherent UK bias against semi-automatics. No matter how perfect of a fit and no matter the advantages, they just would plug onward with a double.

This would be interesting with ~5 shot semi-automatics. If you really start blazing away and spend a bunch of time to make sure you don't drop a bird, it gives the other guy a chance to reload the gun and puts you behind the curve. Now he has 5 in the gun and you have 2, and it turns into a race to force the other guy to run out of ammunition.

Im retired from the 3 gun world because of knee issues. I have several 3 gun shotguns that can hold 10 shells or more. It would be cool to find a place where i could do a 5-10 clay volley. Call pull once and get 5-10 shells back to back from carious machines. My local 5 stand will let me do it but only if im their by myself. And of course you need a semi automatic shotty or pump. I suppose you could do it with an over under with shell ejectors and a shell caddy

In a couple years, when I shoot better, I'd love to shoot this sport with a semi or pump -- pump because that's what I have, but an *instant* second shot isn't part of this. A fumbled shell wouldn't be a disaster, since you'd have two or three more in the tube, and you could load two if you feel you have time to keep the tube topped up. This might be the only clay sport where the repeaters actually have a (small) advantage, though it does seem like you might want separate classes for repeaters vs. double guns (maybe even one for single guns). It does seem like the guy with the biggest pockets might have an advantage here, too; if you get two guys who shoot really, really well, they could go through a box each before one misses... Seems like almost any Five Stand range could shoot this with little or no modification (take down or cover the menu cards and ready to shoot) and there's one of those less than an hour from my home (half an hour from work). Whether I'd watch it on TV, hard to say -- it's got to be harder on the camera operators than tennis!
