Activision seriously missed the mark here. Instead of shutting down the H2M mod with a cease and desist, they could have recognized its potential and partnered with the independent developers behind it. By doing so, Activision-who didn’t originally own the H2M mod since it was created by independent basement developers-could have gained control over its release, ensuring it wouldn’t interfere with the launch of Black Ops 6. Once they had control, Activision could have strategically planned to release the H2M mod under their own branding, possibly as Modern Warfare 4, promoting it as the biggest Call of Duty release ever. Imagine launching a game with over 50 multiplayer maps already crafted by the H2M team. They could have taken it a step further by involving all their studios-Infinity Ward, Treyarch, Raven, etc.-to work on the game together, polishing it to a pristine level and adding even more content, like new maps, modes, and more. To cater to different player preferences, they could have created two distinct playlists: one featuring the classic MW2 movement and another with the modern Call of Duty mechanics. This would have appealed to both nostalgic fans and those who enjoy the latest gameplay styles. Additionally, Activision could have introduced unique camos, skins, and other cosmetic items to monetize the game even further, creating a massive revenue stream. Releasing classic OG Modern Warfare 3 maps as DLC throughout the year would have kept the player base engaged and excited. By shutting down the H2M mod, Activision missed a chance to turn a community-driven project into a blockbuster title under their own control. It’s frustrating to see them pass up on such a massive opportunity to create something truly epic with the combined efforts of all their studios, the ability to cater to different movement preferences, and extensive monetization potential.

I bought MWR the other day and spent a few hours trying to get it to work which pushed my outside the 2 hour refund window. Kept getting stuck on the shader cache process. Look up H2M revived, apparently some people were able to save the files and set it up again.

It does make sense for Activision for squash stuff that’s actually fun because it raises the bar to having games that intrinsically fun to play instead of being sugared up systems of extraction and exploitation. People don't know that the investors don't care about player counts from the old games they only care about the sales and the player count of the new games. Yes the player of people playing mw remaster would make activison look good but not to the investors. The current investors didnt invest into mw remaster thats why they dont care how well old games are doing because none of them are probably around during the time of the old games. They only care about the sucess of the news games because those are ones that they are actually investing in. Activsion is greedy but they don't just take whatever they get they want it in their own way. Why'd they do it? Because there's no beetle pess, there's no micro transactions, there's no 20+ bundles that use the same gun (M4, MCW, XM4) over and over leaving other weapons with like 1 - 5 different blueprints at most. It drives retention away from the latest game and retention is now seemingly more important than quality. Just an FYI if you mention H2M when asking for the refund on steam they will give it to you seemingly no matter the play time. A lot of players have talked about getting a refund with 5 or 6 hours played.

This is someone else’s creation at the end of the day. The same way musicians don’t let people sample their music without their consent and receiving a percentage of the earnings of the song that uses that sample. It’s THEIR property and they make a living off of it, it’s who they are and what they do everyday most of the time. Put yourself in their shoes. Would you let someone “modify” your creation without your consent? Would you be happy about someone “remastering” your creation when they don’t even own the masters? Yeah sure it would be flattering to have people love your creation so much that they would even want to put their own twist on it, but it’s also kind of rude when they don’t ask for your permission to. How would you feel if you saw your creation on KZbin being modified and remastered without your involvement? Regardless if it’s an old game, callofduty is a franchise that is still alive and thriving, Activision isn’t some old company that went bankrupt 10 years ago and everyone’s forgot about them.. If you want to make a real impact, just straight up stop giving Activision the time of day. It’s time these companies get hung out to dry and stop getting the air time from you guys. @@kinnexion I'm happy to discuss this if you're open to an honest dialogue. From my perspective, there's multiple variables to this. A big one: this channel is my business. It's what I pay my bills and the people I work with. I have increasingly integrated more and more games into the content (because of my frustrations with the franchise), and I'm happy with the results thus far, but entirely removing COD cripples that progress we've made in the last year. Also, as a side note, I feel like if I stopped posting every game that had a publisher that did something dumb, there'd be almost no games to post. I mean, sure, I'm biased because it's myself, but I also like to think I do as best I can to keep an honest approach to everything. I don't buy anything in game, I don't promo the shop, recommend trying things out before you commit anything towards it with the new games and such, etc that I don't think I'm just some straight up extension of the game's PR. I'll talk good, I'll talk bad as I see it. I'd hope that as a viewer that's something valuable to amplify criticisms to put pressure where it can be applied and if there's things like dev calls that I'll be able to contribute some tough questions, press an issue where someone else may not. If it's not, I apologize. Another variable, which I know in the age of the internet today is blasphemy, I'm actually looking forward to playing (at least) Zombies and Campaign for Black Ops 6. MP, who knows, will probably have more time in Zombies and Campaign (for Dark Ops) like prior years. Situations like these suck and inevitably make someone angry at me for some side of the issue, but hopefully this can at least give a logical understanding into where I'm at, just trying to talk about games with people as best I can.
