On Cod 4 I remember I got deranked below level 1 and the 'find match' was greyed out saying 'you must be level 1 to play'. The only way I was able to play was by joining peoples session until someone was able to rank me up.

I found a glitch in COD4 & only told 1 person online ever, & it worked in WaW too. On Xbox 360 with 2 gamer profiles, you get one to max level through legit play. Make custom classes with the max level account, then back out to main menu & go back into the class menu with the other controller on the low level account. Everything you picked, including perks would be unlocked permanently until your next prestige! Only reason I told that one guy was because he noticed I had UAV Jammer & Dead Silence around lvl 5 while playing Cage Match lol.

The old way was the CodTV section, that gives errors now, but you can go to leaderboards and look at any of the top players file shares, or in the community tab lol. Only way for Activision to fix this shit is to factory reset the entire game, reset everyones accounts, but they won't do that so there is no fixing it.

old xbox controllers could be rapid fire modded with 1 wire, everyone was doing it themselves in the cod4/waw era. Blackops did try to stop it, but then jittermod chips came out

I'm surprised that rapid fire was EVER an issue. I thought limiting the firing rate of semiauto guns has been a balancing and realism tool in FPS games for about as long as FPSs have even existed.

@@Dee_Just_Dee it was notorious in call of duty 4 for not having a limit. The pistols would shoot ridiculously fast like a Glock switch on a real pistol. The Barrett 50 in mw2 also was hilarious as it shot so fast the gun would empty the whole magazine and move across the screen in less than a second. When they tried implementing fixes and slowing fire rates with later games, jitter came out which iirc slammed the reload button while shooting, allowing for full auto again on burst and even pump shot guns. (Blackops 1) Then in blackops 2 you could make burst fire weapons full auto, just by holding down fire and flicking your mouse wheel to constantly change weapons while still firing, making RK5s and the like full auto, no mod required. It took them a long time to get it right lol

Speaking on how it impacts normal players, there was a year where the haptic feedback triggers on the stock ps5 controller would be picked up is irregular and get some people banned. Some were permanent despite Activision acknowledging the mistake

3:05, Here's the thing about that: they didn't tell the entire truth. They switched to a hybrid setup, not fully dedicated servers. They even publicly admitted that later on, making the sale of the game a false pretense condition. They got away with it too. Even now, in 2024, people can still lag switch in CoD. Some have even accomplished making software that does it, and all the cheater has to do is set a macro on their controls to activate it. Can't tell the fanboys that though, and that makes for an incredibly frustrating discussion. Let them tell it, CoD is flawless every generation, every ban is a false ban, no one cheats, and the people complaining are just buns at the game.

I remember a guy in like 2011-2012 giving me a Nuke in a care package infection for MW2, it made so I had a 100% of getting a nuke in a care package, it was fun to mess around with for awhile especially if the enemy team was winning if I remember correctly it only worked for me or the person who had it. And there was also a way to make it so nobody else could get the care package. So I trolled so hard with that throwing care packages outside the map seeing everyone go for it because it had the nuke symbol above it. 😂

Back in MW2 I stopped my progression at 9th prestige because I liked the emblem much better than the 10th prestige emblem. I got invited to a game by my friend and I didn’t know it but it was a prestige lobby. I immediately got put up to max level 10th prestige and I was so pissed. I had the stupid spinning 10th prestige emblem that, as far as I remember, didn’t even have a legitimate way to unlock it in game. I never forgave my friend for inviting me to that fucking lobby and ruining my account.

@@JustHam09 I don’t think that was an option at the time that it happened to me. Or at least it wasn’t an option in that lobby. I guess it’s possible that I just overlooked it, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t. This was pretty early on as far as jtag’s were concerned. They were pretty new and it was pretty rare to even know about those lobbies unless you were part of a jtag/cheating forum. I had heard about jtag and come across people using them for cheats in matchmaking, but even that was pretty uncommon at that time. I don’t think I even learned that down-ranking or resetting your level was a thing until after I had moved on to other games.

So on the jtag xbox key spoofing, it was illegal because it could be considered theft. What those key "generators" would do is just find a xbox with a good key and mimic that xbox. Essentially "stealing" its key. It happened to my xbox and i dealt with microsoft for about a month and a half because my key was compromised. Never got comped for that lost time of gold

Literally the same thing happened to me. Right in the midst of Halo 3. Unfortunately I was so busy getting into the Army that I didn’t have time to do anything about it until I got back from my first deployment and just bought a new Xbox. Still very salty about that because it’s the only Halo Multiplayer I didn’t get to enjoy and it’s probably going to go down in history as the best one. 🤷🏼

A misconception about cheating in video games is that cheating = hacking or hacking and exploiting are the same thing. Hacking is changing the way a game behaves (usually to gain an advantage). Exploiting is using bugs in a game to gain an advantage.

A few related things I’ve highlighted Ricochet anti cheat is meant to detect hack/mod tools and automatically ban you, it also runs off player reports too. So if several people report you for being sus or just outright good at the game after a certain amount of reports it will ricochet you into a shadow ban you. It will kick you out of your current game and show everyone in the game the ricochet logo so they’re going to think you’re cheating. You’re then in a shadow ban lobby until it gets reviewed, normally takes a few weeks until you’re then permanently banned or go back into normal lobbies with everyone.

I remember coming across a modder in literally my first game of MW3 in 2011. I was playing on the map *Interchange* and someone had modded the lobby so everyone was running at like 5x the speed the player would normally move at. Definitely not the worst experience with hackers, but it was certainly shocking at the time to see mods in a brand new game on launch day.

I played WaW WAY after it’s prime, but someone actually gave me mods somehow and even changed my loadout names, where it had different colored text. I could fly around, was invincible and it was cool for a bit. For obvious moral reasons, I didn’t abuse it and instead just observed the few games I played if my memory serves me right. The mods all disappeared as soon as I turned off the game. I kept the modded names for my loadouts as a reminder of that one time. Beyond these two stories, I can’t think of any other times I dealt with modders/hackers other than when playing modern Call of Duty.

I still remember multiple people telling me to turn my rapid fire modded controller off back in the day in BO zombies. The irony was I was in fact playing on a modded controller with a high quality rapid fire mod but never used it. Was super excited when an older family member came around and modded it for me. Even swapped out the LED's and analog sticks.

The shadow ban lobbies were abused horribly for a little bit where just getting reported enough gets you sent to the shadow realm. So whole teams in lobbies would spam report a single player in a lobby for all options and after a while of this happening just following the player through lobbies by joining on them, the victim is stuck in the shadow ban lobbies until Activision confirms all reports as false.

I remember when I used to play bo2 multiplayer on ps3 there would be people that hack in a zombie mode but it's still in multiplayer, 1 team is "zombies" and the other team is the survivors and we would all get wallbuys, mystery box, and a giant platform made out of the care package box model. speaking of modded controllers. They've made it to where it's just an attachment to your first party controller and intercepts controller input. It can do all sorts of crazy stuff like shake the screen slightly to make aim assist work better for example. Also it could make you crouch and stand over and over while aiming down sights making you harder to hit while only aiming down sights. however they're sold as a set of paddles as an addon for your controller.

Bugs and glitches are not things implemented into the game, they are things that don’t work as intended. Most of them are considered cheating as it’s abusing something that should be immediately reported and not abused

nowadays in some games, despite internet being significantly more resistant to lag switching, if you disconnect for 0.1 seconds, it just kicks you out. Which is especially annoying in my area because the internet just randomly kicks out by a tiny bit and it's just game over. And even worse if it happens in quick succession and the game server is like "nah you banned"

In 2020, maybe 2021. A friend and I loaded into a mw2019 match and quickly noticed that the game was somehow set to headshots only. Turns out a guy in our lobby had somehow set it to be that way. It was actually really fun, I kinda wish they just made that a mode. We talked to him after the match and he said he was gonna do another one soon and that he’d invite us, but we checked his account a few hours later and he got banned.

I can still remember a glitch to get out of the map on Karachi in MW2, it was unless in trying to kill players in the match. But I remember there was a spot where you could fall forever with out dying. But the game didn't think you was failing, so if you had marathon and lightweight perks on, you could max them out in a game or 2. Giving you easy XP and the Pro perks super easy.

I just remember in black ops 1 for a while, they had been a bit heavy handed with one of the patches and my FAL would 'jam'. I didn't have a modded controller, but my time playing l4d2 using primarily dual pistols had really built up my trigger finger. I'd end up spamming, then the gun would suddenly stop shooting and I'd not be able to reload or switch weapon. I stopped playing after a while because of it.

COD expert here. I'm currently at 2,556 hours between MW2, MW3 and BO6 (COD HQ) Xim was banned by Microsoft and Sony. Ricochet has done nothing to help cheaters. It actually made it worse because it advertised that cheating was a thing to people who didn't know cheating was that bad. I play on PS5. The amount of PC player I go against is crazy. BO6 Beta had cheaters. THE BETA!

4:30 Man, I remember practicing my trigger finger technique so I could full-fire in MW2 and Gears of War 2. Barret .50 and Deagle for MW2 (sometimes the FAL), Hammerburst for GoW2. Got so many accusations of modding, but there were just specific techniques you could do to rapid-fire.

Late days of old MW3 got matched against a guy running god mode and invisibility in S&D, i switched to my troll LSW with rapid fire and managed to kill him, 5 minutes later i lost all of my progress and stats in multiplayer, it annoyed me but it didn't take too long to get everything back. Its just sad to cheat, if you have to cheat to have fun then don't play the game in the first place.

On mw2 the speed glitch would work for private match on ps3 and I remember being with people and using the map to launch ourselves out of the map, on Karachi the sprial stair case would ramp you on top of the roof in which you would jump out from the telephone pole, you could even find the old blacklot building out there. Same thing on bailout and skid row with speed ramping onto the fire escape. Spent so much time playing that with dudes I’ve never talked to since

I remember getting mod locked, all the time, but I never had turbo mods. I used to play paintball and could easily set off the mod detector. I then had to switch to smg.

The WaW mod stop was annoying when you had them fast fingers. I used to shoot with two fingers and get blocked. Glued a popsicle stick to my controller one time too to train to shoot faster.😂

Shadow bans happen when you get reported alot. Its like a verification stage where you can still play without disrupting legit players if you’re cheating. They’ll either idk manually look at anticheat logs and ur processes etc to determine ur cheating and ban you. Its really just to get at rage cheaters with undetected hacks or people trying to appear legit while still being quite obvious that they’re looking through walls etc.

I had a legit bug happen to me (twice!) in 360 WaW that would reset my profile back to level 1 with a pistol im every slot. Pistol for perks, pistol for grenades, pistol for everything. After that the the profile was permanently bugged where you couldn't use default items in create-a-class. The bug would happen if i went to search for a co-op campaign lobby then back out to the main menu. The only way to fix this was use a zombies mod menu to prestige my profile.

At least the modern gave you 11th prestige in WaW. My younger brother got deranked to which he could only play Basic Training which you couldn’t find a match to level up to play the in the standard matchmaking pool.

I remember getting my hands on a rapid mod controller as a kid, I don't remember how exactly but a friend of mine got it. I even went as far to disassemble it and put the modded controller inside my cool custom 360 controller shell. I still have it to this day. Wonder if the rapid fire still works. Nowadays at least on pc, you can just enable turbo on your gamer mouse software and get rapid fire for free, although anti cheat is better at picking that up

I used to do the whole JTag modded lobbies in mw2 back in the day. But no aimbot, wall hacks etc. just some of the fun stuff. They were fun to play in private matches, especially the 30 minute nuke timer ones. Shame that people decided to use them to actually cheat in public matches though.

In these games, I've seen Twitch streamers and non-streamers get killed repeatedly by the same cheating troll. Even when the troll's team was losing, that troll was only killing his victim over and over instead of trying to win the game. When the victim started another match, somehow that troll was on the other team, killing the victim again. The trolls often used multiple accounts to get around blocking. The dedication these trolls have to ruining just one gamer's experience is disturbing
