My physics teacher regularly hosts an astronomy group where we drive to a remote field and take pictures of various objects from sunset until about midnight. Last time, we accidentally took a photo of this supernova without knowing it had happened! (This was a few days after the discovery) He was really happy that we took a picture of it :D
