Also, what a lot of people who never played sports or suffered a major injury don't understand is that healing is both physical and psychological. I broke my tibia when I was fighting amateur MMA. I healed pretty quickly (good health, great shape, good diet, etc) physically. But mentally it took substantially longer (a few months anyway) before I trusted that leg for support, let alone full force kicking again. It makes sense too. As humans, we learn from pain (that's why you don't keep trying to touch the red hot burner). So when something traumatically painful happens, we are hard-coded to try and avoid that same sequence of events. This is why I have so much respect for any athlete that comes back from an injury to place at the same level. It's not just the physical healing process, it is overcoming the mental side that has been hardcoded through millenia to tell us 'that hurt you last time, don't do it again'.

I know they pay well and it isn't like if you stop that it will make a tremendous impact. It's just terrible how many young people are growing up with normalized sports betting/gambling where they steadily lose money all the time. Yes you can get lucky and win but let's face it, the house always wins sooner or later. Say he's had a strained hamstring for like 8 months, reinjuring it multiple times and whatnot...that's a LONG time! I wonder if there's a length of time for muscle damage where it can actually have long-term implications - like it never heals quite the same? Muscle tissue and tendons that anchor it are all complex living tissue - i don't think there's any guarantee it'll always grow back the same after trauma.

Great video. Hamstring injuries are so much more devastating than the average nba fan knows. Let alone the average person. 3 injuries to the same hamstring is tough, and without proper rest and rehabilitation. He's got the Yips! Just like Ct Klay! Injuries can really mess with you, then you come back, if you hit a rough patch you start telling yourself its the injury, you mind becomes your enemy. Let's hope they have a good team psychologist. Tyrese is a baller of course, not a fluke, he was too good for too long for that to be true. It's all in his head, and if his mechanics are weird, there's a cool study i read that if a basketball players shot mechanics are unconventional, they're psychology plays a bigger role in their performance. Coaches can coach someone who's self taught themselves a unique shooting style. Then they try and fix the shot mechanics, and it gets even worse because theyre not used to it and ahhhhh. It goes downhill from there. Its important to recognize a player struggling psychologically early, because these intrusive thoughts get reinforced. Look at Ben Simmons! I mean he's the most extreme example of this, but there's still ZERO reason that Ben can learn to shoot NOW, we could at least get on a path to improving his shot and confidence, and fix everything. But we all know that wont happen because HE's TOO FAR GONE. And then the media gets all over it and make it even worse the longer it goes on for.

If the pacers medical staff thought this, they would've gave haliburton the beginning of the season to heal. There is no way they take him out now, without another injury. They are in playoff contention... I think it's a combination of everything. Being out with an injury isn't just a time for rest. You need to maintain your conditioning and training as much as possible. Maybe he was slacking on that front. And then joining team USA was a very bad decision. He should have just continued his rehab. And I'm not a "hater", but his offensive game is pretty shallow. If his three isn't falling, he doesn't have a mid range game to fall back on, and he isn't a great finisher. His best skill is passing...but if he's not an offensive threat, every defender just stays home, and he has no one to pass to. Lastly, he is still young, and consistency comes with age and experience
