I don’t know if this is one of the reasons why oranges are a Christmas thing but Christmas did originate from the Middle East, and it is quite warm there all seasons. But I read that in the 14th-18th centuries, oranges were rare and expensive because they couldn't be transported chilled and often went bad on the way to the UK. And they were also seen a a luxury

It's Leb-Ku-chen. - Leb: imagine saying "tape but pronouncing the a like a long "eh" - ku: coo as in "cool" - chen: thats a difficult one bc the sounds of the ch doesn't exist in English. I'd say imagine saying "jalapeño" how it's supposed to be and not "yalapeno" Kuchen means cake. Lebkuchen is basically gingerbread, but it doesn't taste anything like English or American gingerbread.

I was literally gonna comment “if anyone in the comments needs vegan side dishes or appetizer ideas by chance this year look at Indian dishes! They’re flavorful, have a lot of spice and seasoning which is fitting for the holidays, and they’re so easily vegan” and funny enough JoJo picks out so many Indian options in the video lol. It was a life savor for me this year using Indian inspired methods to make super filling, flavorful vegan meals that would satisfy meat eaters too in the same way. Seriously y’all, look up nutmeg or chai related dishes especially, and ones with pumpkin or sweet potatoes. Spiced/chai pumpkin stew is a favorite starter.

Just noticed that you had a Thanksgiving video. Many foreigners don't realized the effort involved in a typical Thanksgiving meal. Americans generally share the labor with friends and family. It is truly a holiday for friends and family like the first Thanksgivilng. Usually the person preparing the turkey hosts the meal at their home. 20:18 that’s around $77 USD. Here in the states, that would’ve easily been over $180+ in groceries, probably pushing $200+. It’s shocking how much more affordable food is in the UK. Even at Aldi which is the cheaper option for us, that would’ve been pushing $200. The plant based food would be unreal expensive. For a vegan turkey for two, it’s usually around $26 at my local store, but sometimes you can find some brands selling them for around $14-$16. It makes me sad for Americans how expensive food is, especially quality food, especially plant based options or organic options. That thing of easy peelers JoJo got would probably cost between $8-$14 depending on where you went. It sucks that here in America the good food and produce has the premium, while the overly processed junk is cheaper (not even cheap anymore lol even our junk food is expensive now).

Hey, thanks for your comment 😊 You're right, it is shocking the difference in prices between the US and UK. We know that from personal experience as we went there in 2019 and the food prices were the same if not cheaper (the US always used to be cheaper in general), but when going earlier this year it was much more expensive. A lot of Americans told us that it was to do with President Biden, so hopefully things will change once he has left 💚🇺🇸

@ I actually feel like I remember that video where you guys were all so shocked about how cheap stuff was here. It’s shocking how quickly the prices rose, it doesn’t feel like that long ago at all. As for the issue behind it, I think it was Biden mixed with a few other compounding issues. While personally I don’t really like Biden or Trump, I’m hopeful the prices will start to come down soon. The ONLY silver lining is big stores like Aldi, Publix, Walmart, etc, their organic store brand lines are often now cheaper than even the non organic name brand stuff, so people tend to buy a bit more organic.
