It's not all sunshine and rainbows here though. Canada's an amazing country, but it's also important to remember that our history is also built off of racism and slavery, and our treatment towards minority groups (specifically the Indigenous people) have barely improved in the last 400 years.

We are both immigrants to Canada.....I have been here 48 years from US and my husband came here from Argentina 32 years ago and neither of us regrets it. Canada has been very good to us . Now we are retiring in Montreal and making plans for our winter travel as the cold is a trifle intense for us now. However we are true Canadians at heart and what you said about Canada is true.... the kindness and the humility are foremost. Thanks for your very personal and informative presentations. We are looking for inspiration and you certainly provide that in spades. Have a wonderful week.

I'm a bit late watching this. But I wanted to mention how much I enjoy visiting Canada. I'm from California. I have visited Canada many times in the past. My husband was in the U.S. Coast Guard when we were first married in the early 1970s. We lived across the strait from Vancouver Island and loved going on the Black Ball Ferry to Victoria. We started watching Canadian TV during those years and nowadays still enjoy streaming shows produced in Canada. Gordon Lightfoot has been a favorite of mine for many, many years. Of course, he's only one of the many Canadian artists and authors I love, like Emily Carr and Robertson Davies, to name just two. Just this past week I took my 14 year old granddaughter on a trip to Toronto. We had a wonderful time visiting the museums there. We also took the train and bus to Niagara Falls and enjoyed sightseeing there too, including the old power station underground tunnel that's recently opened. I was so impressed with the wonderful public transportation and very helpful and friendly people everywhere. There are several Canadian KZbin channel creators I enjoy, like your wonderful channel.

Yes.. That's true, you guys eat Turkey dinner a month earlier than us. It's cool to hear that there is a lot of good ethnic food in your area. That's always a plus. Thank you for posting this video. We certainly do live in a unique and diverse country and I love to hear those who immigrate here, love this beautiful country as much as I do (4th generation Canadian). Gordon Lightfoot is definitely a Canadian icon. Love his music. A Canadian artist that I think gets overlooked is Gowan. A mainstream artist, but a classically trained pianist. If you haven't listened to Moonlight Desires, or Dancing on My Own Ground, you should give him a listen.

After 60+ years of cold and snow, we're ready to miss all of that fun stuff for at least 15 years. Christmas and New year's is beautiful with the snow but when it gets to my birthday in January, we're ready to go back to summer weather. Love our Outaouais region but time to check out the rest of the world in 2023! We will still be here from May to November.

We are coming to live permanently in May...can't wait!! Would probably also mention the fantastic local YMCAs ( calories out) and the craft beer culture ( calories in!). Now you need to come east to the Maritimes once COVID is over. The farther east you travel the nicer the the people ( I am a bit biased where I was born and live in New Brunswick). Atlantic Canada has everything. New Brunswick has beautiful rolling hills, and river valleys, vineyards,Salmon fishing, the bay of Fundy with its lobster, highest tides, Acadian fetes, beaches. Nova Scotia has rugged ocean vistas, scallops, British and French fortresses, Cape Breton trail, festivals, vineyards, and Oak island. Prince Edward Island is a beautiful place from tip to tip with it’s lighthouses, beaches, food festivals, lobster dinners, clamming, tuna fishing. Newfoundland has the nicest people, with kitchen parties and you can get get screeched in. The first Viking settlement in North America, fjords, whales and icebergs. You can hear the accents of our ancestors that came from England, France, Ireland, Scotland that first settled here. Plus you can learn from the indigenous nations that were here before we made a Mark on our land. We may be smaller in size, but you can experience so much , at a slower pace. I know I sound like a tour book, but I guess I love it here. I know you would too.

I was at the Quick Check (like 7-11) and I apologized to the clerk and she looked at me and laughed. “You aren’t from here, are you?” She asked. “Nope”, I said. “Guess 🤗”... she laughed again and asked... “Canada?” “Yup”, I said with an LOL. Being from Victoria, winter was a novelty for me since I'd never experienced real winter before lol. Almost don't feel like I qualify as a true Canadian being from out West lol. Oh my, the rain. I remember it well, even after 34 years in Canada. Every July 15, the news would say that it is St. Swithen's Day and legend has it that if it rains on that day, it would rain for 40 days and 40 nights. One year, I can remember walking around Glasgow as a 20 year old, wondering when the rain was going to stop. It did rain on St. Swithen's Day that year, and it did rain at some point for 40 days and 40 nights. Everything was going green and mossy lol. I sometimes miss the rain, but not that much of it!
