I was stationed at the old Duluth AFB back in the 1970's and fell in love with Duluth. The Canal Park area had not yet been built up; it was still mainly old warehouses but you could just feel the potential that it had for greatness. Now, to a great extent, that potential has been realized. Duluth is a wonderful, wonderful place to live.

I grew up just outside Duluth, and visiting there now, I realize how great the people are. They are so genuine, and I believe "Minnesota Nice" might have come from there. I will never forget the time a young lady stopped me as I was walking to my car to tell me I had dropped a quarter. The quarter didn't matter, but her kindness and time she took for me meant something. I think my favorite thing about Duluth though is the harbor and watching the big ships.

Duluth seems like a nice modest place. People are friendly and fun, down to earth, if there is wealth disparity, it's not the kind of place where you have slum streets and multi-million dollar palaces. Everyone is open-minded doing their own thing and liking Lake Superior. That's really nice.
@consciusenergeia99836 жыл бұрын
I've been in multi-million dollar palaces there.

I randomly came upon this town while exploring google maps. I had never heard of this place before but it seems like such a charming miniature city. It's funny because I grew up in a city of 300K people in California, but this place I guess is more compact near the lakeside, so it does have more of that city feeling than my hometown does, despite having less than a third the population. I would love to visit this place sometime. Seems like such a hidden gem.

I visited there once a few years back(during summer months) and absolutely fell in love with the place, although I don't know if I could handle the winter months, lol

ha ha The girl at the end is so funny. "I'm not a future predicter." Nice video. I really hope to see the high-speed train from the Twin Cities to Duluth become reality. That will be a great thing for Duluth.

Have never lived in Duluth, but I've visited once and Lake Superior is one of my favorite places on Earth. Thoroughly enjoyed this video. As for Wafflecrazy, I'm sure no one will object if you don't want to live there.

WOW, do these people live in the same Duluth??? Apartments are insanely expensive, school system sucks so bad people drive there kids up to a hour away for schooling. Crime is off the charts! No jobs. I was born and raised here and when my boys are done with school this year we are out of here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH I ALMOST FORGOT THE BEST THING ABOUT DULUTH,,, apparently we have the BEST welfare in the country. Just ask our mayor how he advertises it in Chicago and Detroit........ 60% of the people are awesome in Duluth the rest are just here for the benefits .

Bullshit, she's a racist and has no clue to knowing, or can prove, that the mayor is advertising in cities that have large black populations like Detroit and Chicago. Go be afraid somewhere else bitch!

It's a really nice city. I go up there about once or twice a year in the summer. The winters can be long and deadly but in the summer it's that perfect weather like in the morning it's in the 60s and the high is in the mid 70s the weather is perfect. And Duluth is famous for lots of attractions like canal park, the Aerial Lift Bridge, Enger tower, Gleenshen mansion there's a lot that I can't even count them all. And to me in 10-20 years I think Duluth AND Superior will be the new Twin Cities of Minnesota. So I would recommend going up there in the summer. Trust me your gonna love it!

I went to Duluth two times already, they were both so beautiful!!! We went on a tour ship, we crossed the lift bridge, I put my feet in the superior, we went to gooseberry falls, we went on a train, and- we basically went everywhere that was beautiful! Oh, and we went to glensheen mansion! Whenever we wake up, we hear the beautiful bell tower. I highly recommend people to go to Duluth, its so beautiful!
@ashleyprochnow77989 жыл бұрын
oh then we went to west Duluth and got gang raped went through a stroll downtown alone at night (because you totally can here without getting harassed or beaten) got made fun of for putting my feet in lake superior by the locals behind our backs because we look like morons learned the glensheen mansion is bullshit to get money from dumb ass tourists oh then we stayed for the winter because it's about 6-7 months long and stays below zero the whole fucking time we got to see the crime scenes of 4 different murders in the last 2 months in Duluth including a twenty year old and a 75 year old oh and we learned how their has been over 5 deaths from the lift bridge so far one of which was only about 3 years ago and their was so much blood it was ridiculous. oh god it's such a beautiful city.

That's it. I'm moving back. After I get my degree at University, I'm heading back north. I feel like my soul is bound to this city. How many high schools are there in Duluth? I moved away when I was in middle school. I don't remember. I'm planning on teaching, so I'm definitely curious.

Damn, so many people are hating on this city. It's time for you to leave that alley in downtown Duluth and actually see what Duluth looks like. Sure Duluth has crime and ugly, run down parts but doesn't every city have it's dark side? If you really hate Duluth then move somewhere else. 3 years ago, I moved to Duluth from Minneapolis for school and I thought I was torturing myself for moving here but It's actually a pretty decent city and I'm proud to live here.

Duluth, underneath it all, is a town for the "down & outs" of the world. And where is the light? Where can you find motivation to get off public housing programs, to not go get drunk or high, to not go gamble, to fill-out just one more job application? This town is pretty to look at with pretty nice people, but after so long you will begin to see the hopelessness this town has.
@LoriLeaPouttu12 жыл бұрын
Also, I really think Duluth is unique in that what other town or city has a ship harbor, beach, and ski hill in the same town? Not too many places. :)

@CelticVictory11 жыл бұрын
I'm fairly confident that two things would happen if Duluth ever had a high speed rail. Either Chicagoans would come up and do everything that you described above or that anyone who could afford it would flee Duluth. There's also the possiblity that both could occur.
