I don't agree. When I was a kid in the late 70's and early 80's she was Madonna/Cher huge. She won award after award. She had her own variety shows. She stepped away to have a family in the mid 80's and never really came back to, or wanted, that level of fame but she's a icon. Grease, Xanadu and Physical were all huge. Xanadu the movie is a cult classic now and the soundtrack, which Magic is from,. is amazing.

@@90hatter90 She had huge country pop crossover songs, "Let Me Be There", If You Love Me (Let Me Know)", "Please Mister Please". These were all top 10 hits in both pop and country. @@Sandra-bn9ky but no one sees her as a country artist. I know she has done some but nothing to put her in a country category. That’s just me. She dabbled in a little this and that. I saw her more as a pop and easy type listening singer. Not country whatsoever.

@@90hatter90 ONJ dabbled in many genres, country, pop and folk. The only reason she is not recognized now for Country is because she gained many young fans when she performed in "Grease" and many people think that is where her career started. If you look at interviews with her from late 1970's and even early 1980's, her country/pop roots are brought up. It is only now that people "forgot" her country roots. Just try searching Olivia Newton John and country music and see what shows up.😀

Olivia Newton-John is one of many artists you guys are hearing in the incorrect order. For Rob to think she was just a pop diva completely bypasses the truth. Throughout the 70s; Olivia was a Country/Western artist, who even did this haunting backup for John Denver's Fly Away. It was hey casting in Grease; that got the attention that she was more than just a Country artist, and was cast in Xanadu, for which this song comes from. Although the movie flopped; the album was a huge success, due to the song from her, and ELO (who the second side of the LP was their music). You two missed find of great sounds by Olivia; that you two really need to go back to

In the 1970's ONJ was considered a country pop artist. Being one of the first female cross-over artists. She was considered both country and pop. "Have You Never Been Mellow" is not classified as a 'country' song. It is a pop song. It charted in country charts just because of ONJ's cross-over appeal. The thing with ONJ, you could never put her in just one genre because her music was so diversified.

Sheena teamed up with Prince and went much more sultry. 😄 Anyone here remember "Sugar Walls"? 😊🤭 *Sheena Easton* "9 to 5/Morning Train" "U Got the Look" (it's Prince's song featuring her) "The Lover In Me" "We've Got Tonight" (with Kenny Rogers) "For Your Eyes Only" (from the James Bond movie of the same name) "Follow My Rainbow" (featured in an episode of the '80s show "Miami Vice" with Sheena as a guest star. I'm really surprised that more reactors aren't doing her music, she was so big in the 70's and 80's, she has such an angelic voice. "Have You Never Been Mellow" and "If Not For You" are my two favorites but she has so many great songs, "Silvery Rain", "Let Me Be There", she started out as country. Her special TV concert in 1983 or 84 is worth watching right on KZbin.

To ad for all. She only started in country because it was the only place she could get signed as an artist coming from Australia.

Yes, "Have You Never Been Mellow?" was one of her early songs. It was pretty distinctive and seems like the kinda song you like. "I love you, I honestly love you" was a ground breaker for her. Probably her biggest hit and song she is best known for was lets get "Physical".

@@jeffreystone22 She was already signed with an international record label. She started in country because country radio stations picked up her songs and started playing them. From there, her music took off. Pop radio stations then picked them up as well and began her country pop roots, being one of the first true female cross-over artists. Her early hits charted on both country and pop. And her two number one songs, were technically not country, they were pop but crossed into country because of the cross-over appeal.

@@havensmm9308 in the 1980's they explained it differently as it was the only way she could get into the American market. My parents bought the 8- track tape and I remember it having an American music company name on it.

She made her mark on the music scene. John Denver seemed to like her early on. They became friends. They did a duet together. Check out"Fly Away" She's more of the background vocal on the song but a special background singer. Her and John Travolta have been friends for years as well. She started U.S. music career by rising on the Country music charts which caused controversy because she wasn''t an American artist. Anyway love her music and all the she has done,
